Oh goody! My online casino account got robbed... 😎

I was just watching MOTD, and enjoying Arsenal getting beaten by Brighton, when I had two emails in the space of 3 minutes to say a total of £1375 had been withdrawn from my online casino account, to a Revolut card that isn't mine. I wasn't logged in at the time. I don't even have a Revolut account.

The online casino in question have suggested I file a police report and notify my bank (Natwest) in order to get my money back.

How the fuck is it my bank's fault when the card used to steal my money isn't theirs? My account has been hacked and my money removed to a card that wasn't registered to the site. It's the equivalent of someone having their car nicked and being told to go back to the car show-room and asking for another one.

I've frozen my bank card just to be safe.

My online casino account has now been deactivated.

What's my next move, folks?

I'll just assume this is some crypto joint? If it's UK regulated then surely that wouldn't fly...

Of course more case specific information is needed. I think the folks here will have some useful info: i'm too much out of the loop these days to say something sensible other than don't play at crypto joints: if it was a UK safe joint then i'll just assume you'll get it sorted. Might be smart to disable any Casino accou8nt you still have money in, or if you use same/similar passwords at other sites, block./change those too..

Pain in the ass but better safe than sorry. Hope it gets solved for you!

I'm guessing this is VS given that Lemon has said they only play there these days? Could be wrong, but I suspect not.

Hasn't this happened before to someone on here?

Whatever casino this is, this is massively concerning. Casinos seriously need to bring in 2 Factor Authentication. Practically everywhere else involving money in any way does these days, even if it's just subscription costs. Even without 2FA, there's no way this should have been allowed.

Hang on a second, how has the casino allowed a new withdrawal method to be added to your account without verifying that the withdrawal method belongs to you? Surely the name on the card it was withdrawn to is going to be different to yours so they won't be able to have done the withdrawal at the bank level? Seems like the casino has had a massive failing. Hope you manage to get it resolved.

Following this post with interest as had funds removed from my VS account balance recently, due to unrecognised battles, and am going through processes with VS about that.

Been wondering the same kind of things. Casino security seems quite weak in the industry when it comes to things like 2FA. Not just VS, but many others.

Yes with all the use of AI to help hackers, casinos really need to up their game on security and not allowing anyone to withdraw to a new method without some sort of verification is a must, for AML purposes as a bare minimum!

I hope it wasnt VS, as that would worry me as its one of only a couple im playing at.

Getting worried seeing VS brought up by multiple people.

I don't keep a lot in the balance but I'd still be annoyed if I lost what I kept on there.

Maybe time to withdraw the majority and keep the balance under a tenner.

Please tell us this was a crypto casino and not a UKGC licensed site. And if it was crypto, did you have 2FA enabled (most crypto sites do, and require it for both logging in and withdrawing funds)?

If this was a licensed site then it further blurs the risks between licensed and offshore sites...

Thatsa awull but theres been password leaks with some casinos I recently was informed my email and password was in a "leak" for videoslots so i changed it asap, I

That's interesting. Do you know what service told you your password was found in a leak?
My Iphone informed me when I logged in to videoslots

That's interesting thanks. I use Google password manager but it said my VS password was fine.

Of course I have changed it now.

That iPhone message means the password was found in a breach. If the password is used elsewhere it could have been another website that had the breach.

@Lemon can you not tell us where?
I'd rather not share that sensitive information on an online forum as I'm a very private person 😎

It's certainly not a crypto casino or any of that bollocks; I wouldn't dream of throwing my money into the wind at one of those places.

But you can rest assured that the online casino in question are dealing with the issue, and very well so far I might add. It's the sort of customer service that you'd come to expect from a trusted and reputable casino, and is what sets this particular online casino apart from the likes of shitbag outfits that sound like Hilliam Will.

All this talk of changing passwords is most definitely good advice though. We must all be careful in these times and think to change our passwords regularly at the online casinos we use. Just a couple of minutes of your time could save you a lot of stress.

Have a great evening folks! 😀

That's all well and good, but in my opinion, it makes it even worse!

If the casino you are referring to is UK facing, it should not be possible to withdraw to an unknown/unverified card, as we operate the closed loop system.

Therefore, for somebody to just log in to your account and withdraw is a bit nuts to me.

This sounds exactly like what happened at VideoSlots previously, for their sake, I hope not because they cleared havent learnt their lesson if so.

I have to agree that it is concerning at the idea that a completely different payment method was able to be added and funds withdrawn to it without any additional checks having to be made first.

This is just me throwing out a random thought, and not necessarily to do with this exact issue (although I'd still bet the casino in question is VS!).

But has anyone noticed when playing Battles in VS on a busy night, that very occasionally when coming out of one battle and going into another, that the balance it shows in the battles section isn't your own balance? Similar to when it looks like you can join a new battle, and then it tells you that you need to wait to complete your existing one.

I'm not describing it well, but it looks like, very temporarily, that you are seeing another players profile instead of your own.

If, for example, this was to carry on for more than a few seconds, and into the Home page of VS and not within the Battles section, you'd be seeing another players balance.

Is it conceivable that you could then try to withdraw this balance?

I might be talking utter BS, but just putting it out there. But you 100% can briefly see a different account balance during the Battles when the server is v busy. I know because my balance is generally zero, or very close to it!

Very concerning if true.

You almost made me spit out my drink on the last sentence too, because oh boy can I relate...

Really sorry this has happened to you Lemon, would you be able to confirm yes or no whether the casino is a UKGC licensed casino?

Also regarding passwords. Goes without saying, or should do, that use unique hardened passwords, that a dictionary brute force attack would fail.

When employing a 2FA, use something like Google Authenticate, rather than your phone.

Yes I know exactly what you mean. And sometimes joining a battle will say "this is not your tournament entry".

Also the "last played" slots section on homepage randomly changes to slots that you have NOT played.

I am dealing with VS right now where I have battles and rebuys taken from my balance but these are battles I did NOT buy. Am awaiting to hear from them at the moment.

I originally thought my account was hacked but now I am thinking it could be a bug.

It's UKGC 👍

Wfhy are you not willing to share the name of the casino in question? Do you feel that it might jeopardise the outcome of your dispute?

I like to think that a post like this should be helpful to the CM membership so they can ensure their accounts are secure if they play at the same place.

It's been pointed out that Lemon said he'd not play anywhere but Video Slots. When he's posted screenshots from Video Slots he frequently had balances over a thousand. I'm putting 2 and 2 together and coming up 4 right now.

Ok gotcha. I guess I missed the subtlety with this one, though now that you point it out it smacks me in the face 🤣. Forgive me, it's Monday...

It's still concerning that their initial response was "go and sort it out with your bank". And allowing a withdrawal to a different deposit method.

With their shitty RTP videoslots can do one.

Once the go to outfit and I mean why would you have needed to go elsewhere with that huge selection and top RTP.

Now just a 2 Bob outfit and this isn’t the first instance that this has happened there either.
I guess that if you only want to play at locally licensed casinos there isn't really much choice for top RTP other than Slotstemple. I get not wanting to go crypto though. I would never play crypto myself if I wasn't a min stakes/low deposit gambler.

Well the least they can do it sort it.

I think we're all more interested to know how they allowed it to happen in the first place since I guess quite a lot of us have accounts there.

When I saw the title I thought you were going to tell us you'd played Bonanza for an hour.

Seriously though, this stinks to high heaven and with any decent security protocols in place I cannot see how it could happen at a proper UK-facing site, assuming it is. Hope they refund you, there's little enough trust in online gambling without this shite occurring.

Okay, it was Videoslots. Happy now? 🤣

Fucking embarrassing seeing as I always sing their praises on here but there you go. They're dealing with it and I'm sure it will all be sorted in the end 😀

Have a great afternoon 😎

Thanks for telling us @Lemon I am also big VideoSlots fan and long time customer. But it really helps knowing about issues and how well they get resolved. Please keep us informed how it goes.

Some times we can doubt ourselves, but knowing that there really can be system/process errors is important.

I hope you get the correct and proper outcome.

Thanks for confirming Lemon.

I know their RTPs aren't amazing, but there's a huge enough selection of games on there to stick with the classics that are still half decent. And hell, my biggest wins have been on 94% anyway!

That's why I talked about that odd profile bug above - I'm suspecting the bug might have got a bit bigger than just a brief second (although I fully admit I could be 100% wrong!).

But yes, at least their customer service are generally very good (although their first response regarding banks was pretty awful). Fingers crossed that everyone with a VS issue gets a positive result very soon.

I 100% thought this thread was going to be about Gamdom.

Videoslots might be the best place for this to happen, I feel like they will take care of you.

Id be very careful and scan your entire computer, ask your other casinos if there were attempted login, bank etc.

If there were no other attempts anywhere else, it could very well be an inside job by a rogue employee.

💯
Don't want to be too negative, but they clearly haven't learnt from this happening previously.

New cards should be verified before a withdrawal is processed to it.
