Question Notarised document

Hi. I've been requested to supply notarised copies of ID and proof of address after requesting a withdrawal. I sent my passport and proof of address to the casino and they were approved but a day later I received and email requesting a notarised document. I haven't come across this before with any other casino or seen it mentioned on the forums. I've done some research to find a local company but they charge £180 an hour and say it can take up to an hour to complete, has anybody got advice on where to get it done at a cheaper price or maybe past experience? I live in Cardiff, Wales.

You may want to look through the I-gaming reps list. Maybe they have a rep on this forum you can contact.

It has happened several times in the past that we have seen cases regarding smaller Playtech based casino that have asked for notarized documents. Do a search for "Notarized" and some relevant threads will probably pop up (I think it is spelled with a "z")

Thanks Rainmaker. I've contacted the rep on here and they said to comply with the request. I will search for the two types of spelling of the word.

I don't see that it would take that long. Show your ID, they look at the doc's and notarize. This can be done in less than 3 or four mins.. IMO.

Here in the US I just go to the bank, they know me though, they stamp and sign the doc's and it's free.

If you have a bank account, go to your bank.
 
Very expensive in the UK.
There are some very interesting online alternatives.
Looks like you scan your documents, connect via webcam to a notary and they then notarise the docs for you.

Whatever will they think of next? Hoverboards I hope!

Thanks Andy - I've found a company that does it online and is valid in the US, not sure about the UK. Will contact the rep to see if it's valid.
 
I think there are some alternatives that could be explored with the casino.

Here in Canada you can get a certified true copy for far less than the cost of notarizing one. There is also an affidavit that can be sworn, many public officials can take your oath, and main branches of banks will usually have one that will do it for customers for free.

See if perhaps the casino would be satisfied with a Skype conversation with you showing your documents on camera in real time.

If you win is in the 10s of thousands though, I'd just go get the notarized copy. Before you plunk down your money though, make sure the notary you choose is acceptable to them, or ask them to choose one near you. I think I've read a thread where a casino was not happy with the notary someone chose.

Here is the list of the notaries public in England and Wales: Old / Expired Link, you should be able to find someone who will do it for less. It should definitely not take an hour.
 
I vewry often have Power of Attorneys notorised and it costs me £5 per item.

They have a stamp

I certify that this is a true copy of the original which I have seen.

Are you certain you are talking about notarisation, not simply certification by a solicitor or similar?

Thanks for this, I can see a few in the Cardiff area. I've also found an online company from the America that uses a webcam to notarise documents but it's only valid in America, I've contacted the casino rep on here to ask if they will accept it. I've also contacted by Bank and they stopped doing this a couple of years ago.
 
I'm surprised you're being asked at all, as being a UK citizen this is rare, and if it was a UK casino too then I am very surprised.
Of course if the win is big then this is often a tactic used to get you to reverse it - we've all seen the film 'Casino' lol..

When I was asked for notorized docs from William Hill, I used this at all was fine and that was for a £11k withdrawal

Do the casinos know what they are talking about? Some casinos, when asked what notarisation entails, have detailed the latter, which is much cheaper. These "certified copies" can be done for £5 each, and all it involves is the solicitor (or a clerk) using the office photocopier to produce copies and annotating said copies with the firm's seal.

I suspect the full works requires the swearing of oaths etc, and this is where the quote for £180 came from.
 
Shouldn't be that expensive. Usually Banks can help you out with notarising as well. If you're a customer, some banks do not charge for it, otherwise it's usually just some small fee (like €5).

I've had a quote for £60 and should be getting it done tomorrow. I've yet to have a reply from the rep on here regarding the online webcam website, I'll just go ahead with a local solicitor.

Better than £180, but still significant. It is probably lack of competition in your area that makes the fee so high. The solicitor will probably have a junior or clerk do it, but put their name to it, so £60 for a couple of minutes spent signing off the work and adding the seal. It is probably proper notarisation rather than a cheaper certified copy, but the latter may have been enough. The real problem is that you can only use these documents for 3 months, so if in month 4 you get another request for notarised documents, the ones you have had done now will be no good (too old), and you will have to spend another £60.

You really need to get to the root of the problem that is causing you to be asked to take this "very rare" step (according to reps), and correct it. Most likely, it is a data error in some third party dataset that causes your account to be flagged as suspect.
 
Quick update: Getting the document lasted no longer than 10 minutes and the cost was reduced to £50. I sent the documents the next day (Friday 01/02) but yet to receive a reply and I've also chased them through email. The rep on this forum has yet to reply to a PM I sent on the 25/01.

Thanks Max. I have a feeling that it might come to that, I have all the information ready. Will give them a few more days to respond before it comes to that.

I would like to say that I am currently in the same situation as Tanga, this casino is also asking me for notarized documents and also accusing me of being an advantage player. I only ever play with my own money (not bonuses) so I don't understand..... They owe me £7k!!!! I fear the worst!

If this is purely because they deem you an advantage player, this is simply a stalling tactic, and an abuse of the KYC procedures.

If you don't take any bonuses, it is hard to see how you can have an edge over the casino. An unprofitable player maybe, but not an advantage player.
 
Rival casino, are they no longer on here? I haven't played in a year and downloaded a rival the other day and haven't played yet. I went and looked at their T&C and it asked for notarized documents upon withdrawal. I guess I'll remove them now...lol.

There is only one Rival Casino that's accredited and that's Slots Capital. You will be fine with them. Link Outdated / Removed

Our problems are with a different site, they have a Rep here but does not reply. (To me anyway)

Got paid by the casino today, almost two weeks since submitting the document. From now on I think I'll stick with the accredited Casinos, never been requested to provide documents at 32Red, Redbet or jackpotparty.

You may as well divulge the offending casino to save other players the same grief, you have your money.

Good news!!! Glad you got sorted out, gives me a little hope for getting paid myself!
 
It was Tropica Casino. I thought they were one of the better Rival Casino's with an active rep on this forum, but I'm not sure if Ill continue using them yet. The email support I received was terrible, didn't answer my questions and were rude in how they replied. I've sent two PM to rep on here and haven't received a reply. I have some comp points left with them so I might play them out ans see how it goes.

I'm not saying Tropica is a bad casino because I did get paid and they have the 'Share the excitement' feature than no other Rival Casino has. I've searched this forum for negative comments but couldn't find any until this thread.
 
Little advice for casino owners and reps:

If you don't want me to spend my money in your casino, just ask for notarized docs (or any other similar bullshit). I'll glady leave and never go back, no question asked! What a quick, painless and polite way to tell your customers to f*** off. 10/10.:thumbsup:

Cost me £50 and an afternoon off work to get the document done and not even an explanation why, I did ask them but never got a reply.

If it cost you £50 I dread to think what I am going to get charged over here. What did you send them? Just the normal documents? I asked what they wanted but got no response..

Got a quote today for this, £75 per Document!!! Am going to have to send all the normal docs to them I suppose but thats going to be £225! :eek:

I can't see it in the terms myself but I am going to jump through the hoops to try and get my withdrawals processed. I rang my companies lawyer for the quote, it is dear but seems normal over here. Want to make sure the seals are correct and cannot be argued with.
 
I would personally get them certified first and try that. That will be £5 a copy. So £15.

I would bet that 95% wont know the diff between certified and notorised and you will get away with it. They can only ask you to do it again and its cost you an extra £15 to try and save £225.

So your basically getting 15/1 they accept them. Id take them odds.
 
Didn't get the time during the week to get the docs sorted (Got a business to run), just logged into my gmail account to find they have been requesting the docs again on Monday, Tuesday and then Voided my withdrawals and suspended my account on the Wednesday. I was still trying to find out what docs they wanted as its so expensive. Not sure what's happing now :( I sent them a mail. They where not too happy about this thread it would seem.
