Nice documentary about Vegas - Louis Theroux

Watched it and really enjoyed this documentary.
Had seen a few before from this guy but never the Vegas one.
Fun to watch and also a bit shocking seeing what some guys lose on the tables.

I really feel tiny with my average €2.00 bets on slots or my €10.00 chips when playing blackjack in a land based casino.. ^^

Yeah, this came out a couple of years ago and was on BBC1 - saw it then. I knew as soon as I saw your post by the 'Billabong' t-shirt the guy has on.

Welcome to Vegas baby.

I was in Vegas twice in my life and really really enjoyed my stay there but it is all so overwhelming,the whole city and it's atmosphere.
Both times I lost although I had a few nice wins on the slots.
But just to be there and experience Vegas was awesome.

Defo would like to go again whenever I have a chance but I am glad I am not living there,would not be good for me.

Awesome documentary! I've seen lots of documentaries from Louis Theroux and this was one I remember very well

I loved that bit when those two guys play blackjack and are accompanied by Louis who's also playing. After winning a few hands, Louis asks if he should stop since he has a profit lol

The guy with that black/white blouse looks at him like he's crazy, and tells him NO NO NO you should continue, you're winning! Haha well that's gambling

I watched this documentary quite a few years ago and I did again when I saw the link, I am still not convinced the two low-rollers were real players but instead actors.

The latter part where the high-roller was still smiling made me smile myself, he was smiling like someone who needed the toilet badly but was being polite as to not draw himself (reflective noun use) to the obvious fact he wanted to be sick.

I love Louis Theroux.

I very much doubt that the low rollers were actors. There's plenty of people like that in Vegas. It's just a matter of finding them and persuading them to be in a documentary. While documentaries are, by definition, supposed to be factual - you just know that the producers are looking for a particular type to feature in their show.

I could read the tells perfectly off the guy players [how they really felt at times in their play]

so it proves once again we all put our pants on the same way one leg at a time ,... I got to say that I was surprised that the slot playing woman being in the category to loose 4 million$$ and being a daily hi roller didn't have her house belongings put away
my guess is she was living there for a while , and im shure the casino could have taken care of that for her [if she asked them]

Separately, I'm glad people put BBC documentaries on Youtube because otherwise, I think all UK TV productions are blocked by some kind of trade dispute...? At any rate, you can't get their productions here in the US directly from the source.

There is now a BBC iPlayer app which people outside of the UK can subscribe to and get a lot of BBC content. It's not available in the USA, though. But it is available in Australia and chunks of continental Europe.

One of the few documentalists that actually convey a message in a non pressing way, no bs, and sometimes really eye opening. Really love his work so far.

As to the subject matter, however, it's interesting to me that Theroux chooses to title his work, "Utterly Addicted to Gambling" - without having known that, it's interesting to think about how he seems hellbent on finding gambling addicts in Vegas - in fact, he asks the individuals who are the subject of his film if they consider themselves addicts - no one affirms that status. So he asks them again. And again. Each time, in a different way. And when it's clear he isn't going to get an affirmation, he asks these people's loved ones. And THEY disaffirm his question. LOL

Give it up, Louis. You're terrific, you're lovely, but Oprah Winfrey you're not.

People like to gamble. Some people like to gamble a LOT. And while some of those people are addicted, some are NOT addicted, sorry.

I don't think that's the real title documentary, just a title someone added on YouTube. I believe this gambling docu was called Gambling In Las Vegas or something similar.
