Call me a cynic, but maybe they didn't leave the old game running because they wanted to reuse all of the same footage and animations instead of culling new clips from the films?

Tell you the truth:
I generally do not read slots game rules, I enjoy the excitments from unknown.

I just had a brief look on rules of the gollum feature, it says this feature will appear on both free spin and normal spin.

I have seen the feature at normal game, the gollum appeared on the right coner and displayed a card with x2 x3 or even x5 on it.

Sorry if I have overlooked the rule, did any game rules say that the feature mentioned above would not apply to the free spin?

I just closed my Ladbrokes account [mainly] because of this game. MG has went down the pan lately and I can't be bothered with them

I have not tried it out, and I don't think I ever will. I don't know what the RTP is, but since it is a progressive I reckon it to be much lower then the old LOTR game. Why didn't they just make two versions of it? Beats me..

I am going to say, I do not mind this new version at all. I loved the graphics and the random gollum features (apart from the small x0.5 - x5 random wins) and I did have a few nice hits. Made a $130 deposit and started at $1.20 a spin. Had gollum pop up and multiply $45 - $90 by x3 a few times. No Jackpot bonus wheel as yet though, and it may end up eating my balance as I up my bet but I will keep going with it for a while.

To add my 2cents...

I have given it a very good whirl. I've played in excess of 1000+ spins in a single sitting (without leaving the game) multiple times at max bet ($6 - Can't go higher??).

The best hit I got was around 200x bet (Rare!!) in normal play, and 100x bet (Even more rare!!) in the free spins. The free spins are duds (10 - 20x bet) 90% of the time. I've also activated the FS 3-4 times in 50 spins, but alas, they pay so pathetically, its not even worth playing for. There are NO retriggers if you get another 3 rings in the FS.

I'm assuming that this game is very high variance or just plain crappy. Golum features are highly annoying and stop the autoplay as someone mentioned. Just imagine playing $6 a spin and winning 0.40c only for Golum to pop up with a x5 and stop the auto play feature (I've had this tons of times). Why the need to add this feature actually??? They could have incorporated whatever RTP this feature brings into the base game. The best random win I received is 1500 coins($30 on a $6 bet).

Another thing is that the game keeps putting the cinematic feature on after you exit and re-enter it. Although the feature is disabled, you must un-tick, re-tick and apply the settings again

The Random Jackpot Wheel activated for me at least once per session. I cannot understand why MG took a perfectly good game and ruined it. Whoever the developer of this game is, I hope he / she reads this and understands that they messed up!

There are going to be big hits on this game in the winners section, but I can assure you, it will suck as much as it can

Well I think a fair solution would be if they brought the other game back but with a different theme/graphics/backgrounds if they are not allowed to use LOTR stuff in another slot. This is a hate/love game for me.

I think MG is also over using the 'Big Win' pop up. I simply hate it when you get 10x your bet and the game wants you to believe you just hit it BIG... Its annoying. Small wins are now Big Wins and Big Wins don't exist like in the old game.

This is either a sign that the game has huge hit potential (Santas Wild Ride has a max bet of $7.50 at some casinos as an example) or the bet has been reduced in order to minimise the random jackpot wheel feature. Just wanted to let folks know that Playtech has the new version with the jackpots as well. I actually made a deposit to my Games Account at Bet365 hoping to play the old version. Played agonizingly slow in flash, with no option to turn off the cinematic spins.

Had a nice win on this last week (posted in the screenshots) 2600 for a 1.50 bet but due to stacked wilds= very rare in this version of LOTr but I often got 500 to 1000 plus wins from stacked wilds in the old LOTR= the feature is just boring and wild rarely appear in it.

Yep that Gollum is very annoying in the way it stops the auto spins as is having to reset the switch off cinematic spins every time you start up.

The other advantage for the casinos is that as a progressive it contributes a much lower percentage (same as for VP) tp your ;oyalty points.

Not as volatile as the old version but much less exciting and certainly seems to pay less in the big hits. Would play but its definitely not in the regular list like the old LOTR
