Unfortunately, that still qualifies as spam. It was a very strange choice for a first post.

Accordingly, the OP has been banned - if she made this post in error, please feel free to contact a mod and explain yourself, failing which her email will be posted in accordance with the terms and conditions she agreed to when signing up as a member of Casinomeister.

I happen to know the OP and can vouch for her that she is NO SHILL!

I was shocked to see her banned like this. She is a long time casino forum owner, member, and a good friend.

I truly think this was a BIG misunderstanding.

I didn't get a chance to see the unedited post. Was there an affiliate code involved? Or was the ND coupon exclusive to the OP's affiliate account?

Hi Winbig,

I didn't get a chance to see the unedited post either. Though I did speak to her on the telephone right before my post and she told me that there was NO affiliate tag involved. She said that she posted the same post that she left at my forum, and a few other forums like The Winning Streak.

Back in the day, before I had a forum, before she had a forum, that's what we used to do. If we found a new free chip offer for a new casino, or even an existing casino, we'd post it to share it with everyone else. As a matter of fact, we encourage that at our forum. That way our members can find the most up to date new offers when they visit us. Well, that's all she was doing. Sharing a new offer she found, with no mention of her forum, or an affiliate link here.

She also told me that she did try and google up on this casino to see irf there was anything bad about it. But she didn't find anything. That doesn't mean this is a good casino.... but that she didn't see anything bad there.

I hate shills and spam more than anyone. Trust me on that one. But Wickedmsmary is not a shill or spammer.

I have to say that I was really shocked to see her get banned here so quickly. I could understand if she had posted her link back to her forum, or a an affiliate tag. Or if she just opened an account and her ip address was something like Costa Rica, or South Africa, or Israel, etc. But I'm SURE that wasn't the case. How can it be when I know for fact she lives on the East Coast.

I'm sure someone jumped the gun with this ban, and it was a misunderstanding. I felt really bad for her when I found out she got banned because she posted a free chip offer she found. I know that if it had been me that got banned that quickly, for posting something as innocently as she did, I would be quite upset.

I could understand if someone came behind her and said this casino is linked to such and such rogue casino. Or posted any kind of feedback about the casino, be it negative or positive. But I don't understand why she was banned for posting what she did.

Sigh...

not to mention that her join date was 4 years ago, not 4 hours ago...

Daera -

Despite the fact that she signed up long ago, she has never made a post her until today - and the post contained absolutely nothing unique, such as a "hello" or any personal experience.

As a member here, she should also have known the rules - having been signed up for 4 years, there really isn't much excuse for what she did. And as a casino forum owner, she should also understand fully well why the post she made would've been considered spammy here at Casinomeister.

The presence of lack of an affiliate link means nothing - for all we know the OP could've been an employee of the casino.

As I stated immediately after banning her, if she feels she was hard done by, contact one of the mods to explain herself. But the manner of her post left me no choice.

I hope this makes everything clear - the door was and is open for her ban to be reversed if she makes the effort.

Hi Spearmaster,

She told me that she did write a nice email explaining. I'm not sure where she sent it to, as I didn't ask. I will though.

I've also been a member here for many years, and I never knew that posting a post such as she did was a reason to be banned. So I guess I'm just as guilty of not knowing the rules. I guess I better go study up on Meister Forum Rules right now. Because this is a surprise to me.

I don't mean to disrespect you in any way. I just figured this was a misunderstanding and was posting to make sure you knew this is someone I know, and is not a casino shill. Now you know.

I did read the original post. There was no affiliate link. So either you bought a program to post on forums and didn't read all the instructions, or it is just a player sharing something.

Or maybe an employee posing as a poster. Or a former member now employed.

I do feel the folks here at CM are fair. If she gives an honest response, she'll be back in.

Daera, that you speak well of wickedmsmary says something to me too.

I'm not opposed to reps coming to the forum to share a good promotion. But represent yourself as such if that is the case.

Thank you Jasminebed.

I also think the folks at Casinomeisters are fair. I've had respect for Casinomeister (Bryan) and his site/forum ever since I first found this site. It's an awesome place! I guess that's why it's most upsetting to be banned from a forum/site you like so much. Otherwise.. we could just move on and not care.

I'm sure it will be sorted out. Thanks again Jasminebed. :)

Hiya Spear! You know I hardly ever stick up for anyone here :D so I am surprised to be adding my two cents to this thread. I don't know the OP but do know she has a Yuku board she owns/operates. So I went to her board and checked out the casino she is promoting, frankly expecting to find an RTG rogue

Well shut my mouth! The casino sure looked legit so I decided to give it a try. It was fun (I had forgotten that RTGs did retriggers) so I am led to believe the OP meant no harm nor disrespect to this forum nor its rules. I think she just got caught up in the moment of sharing this new place with her forum friends.

OK, stick a fork in me ........... I'm done.

Why no warning shot first, considering that she has been a member of the forum here for four years, whatever happened to the "benefit of doubt" scenario ?? Everyone has bad days my friend. The reference to reading the "Forum Rules" has increased dramatically here over the past year. Is there a set protocol for an active member to get banned upon first mistake or is this "Rule" written somewhere? I am not being sarcastic either...I would really like to know.

I agree, but still I think it would have been respectful to have simply asked her in this thread "what if any motives she had by posting as she did"...before totally banning her. Just my opinion...but maybe, just maybe every now and then hold reserve to the "Iron Fist" approach in all due respect...:)

As I stated immediately after banning her, if she feels she was hard done by, contact one of the mods to explain herself. But the manner of her post left me no choice.

I respectively disagree, as I explained above.

As you know, first-time posters who promote a casino do not get warned, they get banned. This applies to any poster, regardless of when they signed up.

It's either that or I let you and the rest of the community wade through all the crap that others will post once they realize we won't ban them immediately. Take your pick.

The OP has been unbanned because of Daera's kind assistance.

However, the policy of banning spammers is unlikely to change now or in the future, in the best interests of everyone here.

edit -> By the way, in case anyone was wondering, I did look at the date the poster signed up. I did look at the number of posts she had previously made (none). And I determined that the nature of the post did not in any way resemble the post one would expect of a new member.

I like www.crapmeister.com better....they treat me like crap, and keep me coming back for more!!

edit: awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, what happened to the index.html??????
Crapmeister is back up and running full steam!! The server was recently moved and the index file got trashed.

As for the OP, she apologized to me last night, and apology accepted. In the future, please do not post promotional material without explicit permission.

What would have been cool is a discussion about the casino in question. What is uncool is when it's strictly a spammy post without any content but ad material.

Agreed there wasn't an aff link - but it was a direct link to her portal thus exploiting this board. Not cool - but forgiven.

As a forum moderator myself, I have to agree with Spearmaster here.

The opening post is in 'textbook' spammer or shill style - there's not even an attempt to make it look like the poster is an actual player.
If it was an established member - no problem. But as a first or second post - alarm bells!

Spammers & shills are a real pain in the ass for forum mods (most of whom are unpaid), so it's not surprising many places have a 'zero tolerance' policy.

I don't think there was a link to her forum in her post. But, I could be mistaken.

He may have meant a link in her sig Daera? I remember Mary from my EZBoard days, many moons ago. And no, I wouldn't say she was a spammer.

But I understand why she was banned. First and only post being a promo for an RTG casino. And "if" she did have a sig link...I get it.

Just speaking for myself, I'd prefer not to see this particular forum (Online Casinos I mean) become a place where promos for casinos get posted. I'd much rather see just discussions of casinos take place. I like the idea that there is a separate forum for Casinomeister Exclusive Promotions. And I would rather not see CM become like so many other forums out there...which are more geared to people just hanging out and looking for bonus codes, freebies, etc. Nothing wrong with that....so don't anyone jump on me. I've just always thought of CM as geared a little more towards an information/discussion site...that's all.

EDIT: Duh, no posting without coffee, lol. I wanted to add that part of the reason I don't want to see a bunch of promos posted in here is that with these new casinos....we have absolutely no clue what they're all about. Are they reputable? Are they rogue? Do you want to give your details to a rogue establishment? I saw the promo that Mary posted on another forum....and I personally haven't signed up for it. I know nothing about them. Yes, it's free money and low risk (so it seems), but I think people are too quick to jump on things because they're free. Free does not always equate with good. I wish some sites would do a little more due diligence before allowing some freebies to be posted.....especially from new and unknown casinos.

K, I'm really done now, I promise.

There used to be a section where I allowed promos to be posted, but it was abused by so many that I shut it down permanently (posting for known rogues, etc.). The special promo section is reserved for casinos managers who have their casinos listed on the site. That's as far as it will go.

As for critiquing casinos, if it can be done objectively, I have no problem with it. But as soon as it gets commercial - ferget it.

I agree with the above - on reading the post that triggered this storm in a teacup my first thought was that this was a spammer, based on the manner in which it was presented.

I'm glad for all concerned that the matter has been sorted out amicably, but I have to say that imo Spear did the right thing here in his effort to keep this valued site spam-free.

Edited to add that I'm with Pinababy in wishing to see "Online Casinos" kept as clean as possible for discussion and debate.
