Turn around...
Here we go again, I think the bill will pass again easily. Will Christie sign it this time? I think so, especially due to the DOJ opinion that came out around this time last year which should help in his decision.

A bill that could make New Jersey the first state in the country to offer online casino gambling has been placed on the state Assembly’s voting agenda for Monday — and supporters hope to have the measure placed on Governor Christie’s desk by the end of next week.

Breaking: Bill passes 48-24-4

The state Assembly vote wasn’t quite as lopsided as last time, but the 2 to 1 margin in favor of a revised online gaming bill bodes well for backers as it heads to the state Senate on Thursday.

N.J. Senate passes online gambling bill 33/3

The state Senate on Thursday passed a bill that would let New Jersey residents to play online versions of casino games anywhere in the state. The 33-3 vote gives Governor Christie 45 days to decide whether he wants to veto the proposal, as he did nearly two years ago.

For some reason I think this bill will be signed today, no particular reason other than the date 17th..

Let's see what happens, if wrong I'm a complete idiot with predictions. :D

Christies 45 days are up, correct?

Are my calculations off?

The bill passed the N.J. Senate on Dec. 20th, 2012 and Christie has 45 days to sign the bill, veto, or do nothing and it becomes law.

Dec. 21-31 = 11 days
Jan. 1 - 31 = 31 days
Feb 1 - 3 = 3 days

Today's the 46th day so it should be law but I've seen nothing on the internet news wires. Wonder what I'm missing here?

It is strange. Initial reports indicated the deadline was the 4 February, but most reports are now saying the deadline is February 7. :what:

I've seen the 3rd, 4th and also 7th like you. But it's a fact it was passed through the Senate on Dec. 20th which makes the 45 day deadline over. I've emailed Mr. Lesniak for his response on this.

Here's a quote from CardPlayer: "Gov. Christie has until Feb. 3 to sign or veto the bill."

I'm like you whats going on here!

Christie is going to go through with this because his investment in reinvigorating Atlantic City has been a disaster. Build it and they will come but only if you have good transportation and infrastructure which are two things Christie does not want to invest in. Putting money into high end casinos and thinking Atlantic City could thrive by only catering to people driving there in their expensive sports cars and limos was a big mistake. It is the seniors and working people with their crumpled dollars who really put money into Atlantic City and they forgot that. Surrounding states like PA didn't and they took away a lot of gamblers from AC. Now some of the casinos are on the verge of bankruptcy and had to get beaten into looking outside the box and into the future.

Let me just say this is good news. I have done very little online playing because I am tired of the runaround when it comes to cashing out. CW can stop sending me codes because they just go in the shredder.

I would have been happier with a sign-in rightaway, but this course Christie has taken appears to offer legislators another crack at meeting his requirements, and even the main mover on the bill, Ray Lesniak, has said he is "ecouraged" and will push the amendments through fast enough to get the governor's signature this year.

Here's what he told Blommberg:

“The conditions are minor changes,” Lesniak said in an interview with Bloomberg business news.

“This is going to be wildly successful, and it’s going to bring in millions of dollars of additional revenues for the casinos and the state.”

Lesniak said he expects the changes to be approved by the Assembly this month and by the Senate in March, and the first online bets to be taken by September.

Shares of Caesars Entertainment Corp, the largest operator in Atlantic City with four casinos there, rose 14.1 percent to $9.69 Thursday as of 2:16 p.m. in New York.

I think this is great news, the changes are simple and online gaming is coming to N.J. soon! :)

Additional - Deleware Lottery will be launching online games this year too.
