New games at intercasino and malware warning.

When you start up Intercasino it will start downloading all the new games at intercasino. There are several new very interesting slots and 10/50/100 hand VP (still the same VP variants and paytables).

However, the reason for my post is that right after the installation, Firefox had an extension ready for install. Since Firefox is kind enough to ask if I want all sorts of crap installed (compared to IE that just does it) I of course denied. I had to manually delete it from the extension folder or firefox would keep asking if I wanted to install this unknown crap every time I opened the browser.

The folder name was: (XXX is my username on XP, yours will be different)
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/XXX/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/crl1q8eb.default/extensions/wagerlogic.xpi

Actually the file is named wagerlogic.xpi which is a kind of giveaway that it was the intercasino upgrade that tried to install it.

It is probably not harmfull in any way, but I did not install it to test it and I do not intend to do it. Can anyone contribute with some information about this or similar experience?

I believe it is obvious that I do not approve of this way of forcing browser extensions on the players. I am still not sure I actually understood all this correct since I would not expect this from Intercasino.

Very interesting. Maybe I will try playing for free (Can't play for real :( ) and see if it does the same thing. I'll give it a run and see what I can come up with..

be back.

Yep - I am checking it out to see exactly what information they are transferring back and forth. Hope I have something by tomorrow.

I had to play real-mode to get those new games, though. Good thing my account isn't locked.

Hi Zoozie,

I really like reading your posts. You're always spot-on with your math and you give good reviews on the artistic stuff too.

I think most of the VP paytables are the same, but I know for sure that the Joker Poker table has been increased in our favour. I'm not sure how much in percentage terms, but it has been upped.

Sounds like they are trying to add a button to Firefox that them and other casinos are doing for IE already....of course without asking, too.

I tried it and it just puts a button on the toolbar that launches the casino application. Harmless really, but nice of Firefox to ask permission first. That's why I use Firefox instead of IE whenever possible.

Yes - that is correct. I took apart the code to see if anything else were going on under the hood and couldn't find anything bad about it. I think it is, of course, bad form for them to insert a BHO at all.... But at least it isn't spying on us.

They are starting to spam the computers. They installed a quick launch in THREE place on my computer

1) The start menu
2) The Bar on my IE explorer
3) On my quick launch bar

Is there a way for us to get rid of this piece of crappy code? Anyone found a solution? It keeps creating shortcut in the quick launch bar even after I delete it.

You mean when you start the casino, it will recreate the shortcuts, or it does it automatically after you delete it?

If it does it when you restart the casino, then the code is in the casino.exe itself and there's nothing you can do.

If it recreates them when the casino isn't running, then they have a background process running that is doing the dirty work. If that's the case then just find the culprit by going through the process list.

It recreates the shortcuts everytime the software is started. I don't personally want them on any of these places and I hate the fact that Intercasino seems fit to place these on my puter without consent.

Please fix it Intercasino.

is it because you don't want your wife/anyone to see it on your system? i also don't like little icons everywhere, just wondering if you feel your privacy is violated by the icon-spawning.

i feel the same about when boss/cryptos snailmail a PIN code, or also random mailers that you didn't ask for. if someone saw that in the mail and they disapproved of you gambling, could be fireworks!

Hi umberto and forum members,

The InterCasino buttons are from InterCasino. They are there for easier access to our sites and software but are not Malware or Spyware applications. I will let you know the full process of how to hide / delete them from your destop and will post this on this thread very soon (hopefully by tomorrow or Saturday).

Apologies to all members who are finding it an inconvenience, and to those that have sent us positive feedback, I'm glad that you find this tool a more convenient way to access InterCasino.

Regards
Ryan

This is very disappointing coming from a shop like Intercasino.

The latest software is aggravating - I tried deleting the XPI extension from the Intercasino folder so it wouldn't try to install itself every time I launched Firefox, but the next time I started the casino, it automatically redownloaded the XPI.

IMO, there's no excuse for this roguish behavior. You're pushing something that users don't want.

Hi Ryan,

Your explanation would be OK if the software was asking the user if he wants or not this extra "features".
As it doesn't, it is not meant to help the user but rather the casino.

I would prefer that you ask me before installing (and I would choose NO) and not that you give me a solution to delete or hide them after being installed.
I love you games and I'm impatient to see the new ones them but I won't do that before I'm sure that this upgrade won't affect my browser.

I use opera and never get offered any of this crap, buttons and the like..... I just thought i'd check Ie and wadda ya know, 32red (poker), doyles room, ladbrokes, UB and Mansion have all installed button without my knowledge......

No biggie really but it would have been nice to be asked.

I can appreciate the dillema faced by vendors when trying to balance the whole ease of use of a particular program, making it easily accessible at the same time as keeping security tight and not invading our privacy.

I can't see the accessibility improvement by adding all these buttons and toolbars. I guess players who wanted to play at intercasino had no difficulties to locate the relevant shortcuts on their system in the past.

The behaviour of this "feature" is intrusive and annoying (=malware), especially with firefox and the quick launch bar. The sole purpose of the feature is to support "impulsive buying".

I really would like to see one of the positive responses to the new buttons. "HI, was just dropping by to say thanks for the buttons that are automatically placed all over my computer. I was having a hard time finding the start icon after i downloaded, BUT NO MORE! :)"?

The ratio has to be 100 against to .01 for the buttons.......

I doubt you'll find those responses ;)

I also believe it's only there to encourage compulsive gamblers to play more. Every single casino I've played at (which is alot) installs a button on the IE toolbar ONLY after you've agreed to it during the install; and if you delete it after that, you won't see it again. I think it's outrageous for the button to be reinstalled everytime you start the casino.

Just heard rumors that with the next intercasino upgrade the button has to be pushed every 108 minutes. ;)

I'd push an Intercasino button every 108 minutes if I was stranded on an island with Evangeline Lilly:thumbsup:

Seriously, though. If you right-click on the icon in the IE browser and click 'customize' you can get rid of it in a matter of seconds.

*bump*

Please provide us with instructions on how to *deactivate* the automatic reinstallation of unwanted Intercasino icons and IE/Firefox add-ons, Mr. Hartley.

That old chestnut about companies receiving loads "positive feedback". Do they really think we are all that stupid and gullible.

And we are forever getting told that our PCs are under attack from every angle and we need to install antivirus, firewalls, antispyware, antiphishing, site advisers etc etc, so it is very irresponsible for one of the biggest online casinos to install software without being upfront about it and gaining the users explicit consent, however innocent that software may or may not be.

Dear members,

I have spoken with our software team and we will certainly look into rectifying this for the next sounds of games. Once again, apologies for the inconveneince this has caused you guys, but we do receive positive feedback from our players. I cannot post these as they were sent as private emails to me and therefore I hope you will take these on good faith.

In terms of removing the icon from IE, please do the following:

1) Right click the icon and click on "customize" at the bottom of the menu.
2) You with then be presented with a pop up window where on the right hand column you will see the InterCasino icon
3) Click this InterCasino icon and then click on the "Remove" tab that is in the middle, below the "Add" tab - this will remove the icon from the IE menu at the top
4) Click ok and this should get rid of the icon completely.

I hope this helps you.

Regards
Ryan

Playing devils advocate here....

Now how about instructions for removing the button from Firefox?

And also,

Why not release an update immediately for this? For those that *don't* want it, they have to go and remove the button *each and every time* they run the casino...not like it's a one-time fix.

When are the games going to be fixed in the play mode? I love the new ones, but I get to spin about 5 times and get booted out on every one of them that have some kind of Rapid Fire pay on the screen including the super hero ones..

Truly frustrating (and I know, I know, I can ONLY play it in fun mode) but I am practicing until , knowing we will be let back in soon! :D

There is a fix for this. It's in Control Panel/Add Or Remove Programs ;)

I have to add my voice of dissent to this idea Ryan. Poor show, but get rid quick and fair enough. Until then, I'm not playing :p

No way. Come on Ryan. You run a great casino but absolutely no way is anyone going to write in and say "ooh what a great idea" to this icon. If they did, they are simply after a bonus or a job! LOL. Reminds me of the "upgrade" to the Bonus poker paytables ;)

Cheers

Buttons.

I see no reason why an extra button makes it easier to play. I install my casinos in a dedicated folder, and gather all the shortcuts into a desktop folder.
A quick launch button actually eats a part of the computer's resources, and software providers need to recognise that they are not the only ones who may want to offer quick launch buttons.
Strangely, my Intercasino boots more SLOWLY than before this latest "upgrade", it also exhibited, for the first time, an error that froze the software in mid-game (only happened once though).

To get rid of the buttons permanently, the following will work, for those interested.

1) Delete all instances of the button (quick launch, toolbars, menu)
2) Uninstall Intercasino.

It is not just XP, I have this on my 98 system too!

There may be a better way round it, but if fewer players enter the casino as a result I am sure Cryptologic will find a solution more quickly!

Best solution yet, and very true!

Dear Members,

Apologies for the late reply and thanks vinylweatherman for a solution. You will be pleased to know that we have taken your comments and concerns on board. A software update has been released to production as of this morning.

So basically once a player has opened the casino application long enough for the download to complete, closing and re-opening the casino will ensure that the Firefox installation request is presented only once.

Refusing or accepting the installation will mean that the system will not ask the player again unless the player uninstalls and re-installs the casino. Each uninstall/re-install will result in one further request from Firefox.

I hope this helps you guys. I hear you and I will definitely do my utmost to make sure that future software releases at least ask you and ask you once only so if you decline, it will not show up again.

Once again, many thanks for all your comments. They are very much appreciated.

Ryan

No I'm not looking for a bonus or stroking Ryan's, whatever...

Althuogh I have an account at Inter I've not used it for ages, I'm too much of a MG slots junkie :D

My point to posting, considering the responses from other managers over the past week or two in relationship to other software issues, Ryan again has shown he's professional, listens to popular demand and eventually provides the required result.

In my book that's got to account for something.

Cheers

Very nice. Glad to see a casino that actually listens to player requests!

Not tried the fix, but assuming it works as we hoped

I agree that it's good to see casinos paying attention to the players. A number don't bother yet it only helps to enhance reputations when they are seen to be reactive. There are a few that "run the gauntlet" here and they have to be fairly hard-nosed to accept some sometimes harshly put criticism, but kudos to those who do

Thanks Ryan! It's always refreshing to see interactions between players and casinos. I believe this is a crucial relationship, and it's good to see this in motion.

Then you need to check out the new Zombie slots at Intercasino - the sound bites, the hyper-gore images - what a knockout!! I was totally blown away.

We're getting there, but the quicklaunch and start menu icons still reappear every time you launch or quit (!) the casino, which is the most annoying "feature" of all to me.

I used the patented Vinylweatherman Fix v1.0 and completely uninstalled the casino. :D

Upgrade

I noticed Intercasino attempted to upgrade today.

I have run a test, but it failed. On launch, Intercasino immediately recreated the icons in the quick launch and start bars. A browser icon was not recreated though. The creation of the icons happens as soon as the casino launches, before it even puts up the login screen.

Another test also failed. It is possible to upgrade Crypto casinos while they are offline. The programme menus under the start menu has an Intercasino entry, with the sub entry "upgrade intercasino $$$" I tried this, but it gave "error 3" unable to initiate upgrade process.

It would seem that uninstalling the casino may be the only way to get the upgrade to work properly, but this takes longer (not as long as MGS casinos though:D )

InterCasino is one of my all time favorites!

I agree as well, that is the kind of interaction needed between casinos and players. I wish all casinos could do like this.

I have been gambling online at many different casinos since 1999 now and InterCasino is one of those very few I played at from start and I still do regularily.

Making, then fixing a customer service issue is usually better than not making a mistake at all.

Mostly, I'm a poker/video poker player and the 50/100 hand games they released are really nice. Joker Poker has a great paytable (if only they'd give us full-pay Jacks or Better to go with it:D )

I normally don't play slots very much, but I'm blown away by the quality of some of these games. Artistically, the Frightmare games are phenomenal, although I only played a few spins of each due to my ex-dealer's 'I hate slots' mantra:cool:.

The big hook for me is Cubis. I'm absolutely amazed that I couldn't stop playing it.
