Netspend had me at minus 172 dollars saying pending So I waited and waited and is still there...I was wondering how long has it ever taken you for them to release this amount It has been there since my last deposit to a casino on December 6th

Secondly, I dont know if I made a mistake but wanted some action and deposited 300 bucks so I could have some monies to play with Now I am positive but they still havent credited my "pending" bs as yet Isn't it impossible to be negative in a netspend account? Even if there was a "double" billing wouldn't it be denied if there was insufficient funds?
Thanks for any feedback

That's always been my assumption also. That's why it's called a prepaid card right. LOL Call the customer service no. 866-3877363 (check back of your card it might be different than mine) somethings certainly screwed up if moneys been sitting there since the 6th. good luck

For those interested here is a reply I received from netspend today XMAS of all days

Dear Horace,

Thank you for contacting NetSpend customer care.

We understand that you would like to know when the pending transaction for $172.00 will be released to your account.

Pending transactions are purchases that have not yet been processed or posted. These transactions will remain pending until the merchant collects what is owed.

If the merchant does not collect, our system will automatically put the funds back into your available balance. The timeframe for this automatic process depends on the dollar amount and type of merchant.

$99.99 or less Returned after seven days
$100.00 or more Returned after 30 days
Car rentals and hotel stays for any amount Returned after 90 days

We would like to inform you that your account is eligible for Direct Deposit. If you are receiving social security checks, IRS checks or pay checks, they can be easily deposited into your account absolutely for free.

If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us via email or call customer service at 1-86-NetSpend (1-866-387-7363). Answers to frequently asked questions and self-help options can be found online at

FWIW, the 90 days for hotels is BS. The last time I used my card for a hotel deposit in Vegas, it was released within 24hrs of checking out.

The same goes for car rentals. < 24 hours after returning the car.

Personally, I think the 90 day thing is BS altogether. IIRC, both of the deposits for my car and the hotel security were > $100.

Well the 90 day hold is assuming that you aren't going to finish the authrization by telling them to keep the charge on the debit card. Some people do in the end pay cash instead of using there debit card for rentals or hotel stays. So then that 90 day period would be put into effect. Kind of silly to use a debit card and then pay cash, but I'm sure some people have.

With the car rental, I did have the charges put on my debit card, and they refunded the difference...

As far as the hotel went, the room was comped and I didn't have any charges, so the pending charge was dropped altogether..

I think the double dip is total BS and hogwash... It's a prepaid. How does taking out twice the amount spent somehow make the card/monies valid? If it's there, it's there. If it's not, taking it out the second time isn't going to put it there???

I agree its total BS but what is alternative....I guess to deposit less than 100 bucks
Well on Dec 6th I made 2 deposits of $100 each I had the funds so it was paid , I played and lost Now my NETSPEND a/c was still positive..
A few days later I was negatve.....Now why do I have to be penalized because the "merchant" still has not sent i n the paper work?
I know i am being repetitive , but I am now ranting It makes no frigging sense to me and I have no choice in this freesest of all coutries in the universe lol

FYI you can call netspend and tell them, I mean insist to speak to a supervisor, and the supervisor can release those funds back to your card immediately, unfortunately I have had this problem several times. It is absolutlely rediculous the wait time for pending transactions over 100. i hope this helps. Happy New Year:D
