Be warned:

Thank you for your email.

I apologize that we did not notify our customers ahead of time. As part
of NETeller's New Year's refresh, we've generated new secure IDs for our
customers to enhance our security. Your account information has been
resent. Therefore please login with your new secure ID at your most
convenient time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Kind regards,

Very Odd

That's odd, I am still logging on with my original ID. I have also spoken to them recently as they sent a request for documents that looked very like a Phishing attempt. I sent the documents last Thursday, after going through a couple of agents till they could find someone who knew what was going on.

They spoke of new regulations from the UK FSA as being behind this. At no time were changes to secure ID's mentioned, and neither was it on the website, either in the VIP Lounge area, nor the news section.

Since sending my documents last Thursday, I have heard nothing back. While they assured me they were NOT a casino, they sure are behaving like one, asking for documents out of the blue, not properly explaining why, and then going all quiet once I have sent them. Neteller DID, however, process my recent withdrawal, and my account still seems to be working fine.

If they are playing the casino "document game", I will contact them again and they will say "what documents", followed by, "we can't read them", and "can you get a certified copy".

Maybe they are rolling out these secure ID's bit by bit, but without any prior announcement, it's going to look like a Phishing attempt to get hold of the details.
Does their Email contain a link, inviting you to click through to swap your old details for the new ones they send you?

Nothing has changed with my login details either. Just to be on the safe side I emailed them to send my account info and nothing changed so far.

i got an e-mail today about that also simmo
just changed the secure id
It looks like a phishing scam to me

If you clicked a link in the e-mail I would check with Neteller direct pronto!

General warning;
If anyone ever gets a mail from any sort of banking institution never, and I mean NEVER click on a link in an e-mail no matter how genuine it looks - always go direct to the site via the companies main URL.

Also to be really on the cautious side, type the main URL into the browser address bar. Do not use your bookmarks/favorites as on rare occasions trojans have redirected financial or similiar type sites to almost identical phishing sites.

I have checked with Neteller direct and it is NOT a scam. It would seem that if you do not change your password on a regular basis, Neteller change the SecureID part which is a Neteller assigned password.

Now all you need to do is notify everywhere you have your Neteller account registered  of the new SecureID as any payments due to you will be rejected. I wonder how many casinos will use this as a way of delaying payments.:)

I knew it wasnt a scam because it was me who contacted them when I couldn't log in :D KK is right to be cautious though.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Where did you get that info?
I've been using Neteller since 2002 and my secure ID has never changed - it's always been the same; and I've only ever changed my password once...
(About time I did change it again though!)

Why? The casinos don't use your secureID, they should not even know your secureID.

That should be the case, however, Neteller told one player "we are not a secure company" in a response about a complaint. IF it turns out we DO need to tell all the casinos the new secure ID, this will be very revealing.

The ONLY thing that the casinos need to be notified of is a change to the Email address registered to the Neteller account, this would indeed cause problems if there was a mismatch. The secure ID is the ONLY field in the banking page the casino staff do not know, the other two pieces of information required to make a deposit are stored by the casino, the Email address & the Neteller account number you used to make the deposit.

The password is not needed to make a deposit at a casino, and thus is probably more sensitive even than the password, especially since it is not something the user can change themselves should they be worried.

It is possible the rules regarding this change are buried somewhere in the terms and conditions on the updated website.

I think Neteller didn't do a great job here.. I to was really surprised that I couldn't login this morning. Was even a bit worried about somebody hacking my account and changing my password or something.

However the password recovery still gave the same pw. So I contacted live support.. (also the first time I used live support as a Neteller vip) and was directly told that my securty number was changed by them to make sure my neteller was safe..

I also asked why they didn't email me before they did, but according to them this was done, but the biggest part of the mailing was returned.. SPAM :p

That was the reason given to me by someone at Neteller. The SecureID is effectively a Neteller assigned password, then you have your own password which the casinos don't know. Can't actually recall if they require the SecureID when you set up your payment method, I thought they did, apologies if I am wrong.

I thought they were fairly secure (in response to a comment above) as I once logged into my neteller account from work and found myself locked out as my works internet is sent through Denmark or something. Netellers system flagged I was logging in from a different country and the system locked the account.

I have just logged into my Neteller, all is fine, no new SecureID or locked account.

I found the terms and conditions, and they are dated 1st June 2005 as last time updated, so no clues there.

I found the evil term Prime casino used to take back that player's winnings, and it is still there, but is contradicted by a term further down that makes ALL transactions irreversible.
The key to preventing any other casino from taking back a payment is to use it, or withdraw it straight away. So, if a rogue pays you, and you want to be safe, get the money out or into a reputable casino.

The other contradiction is that they quote their FSA registration as being held by Neteller UK, and not Neteller itself, which is run under the laws of the Isle of Man. Their support have repeatedly told me that Neteller UK has been dissolved, and our membership has reverted back to Neteller, as was the case before June 2005 when they first came under FSA regulation.

All mention of the first 1000 being protected has also disappeared, to be replaced by the general term that all balances are held in a pooled account on which Neteller receives the interest, presumably as payment for rendering the service to players.

They also advise members to print off their transactions records, yet provide no means for members to accomplish this other than by taking simple screenshots of each of what could be thousands of pages of data.
I had been expecting something useful such as this coming out of this "upgrade", yet all that has happened are some colour changes.

Don't forget... They've changed their first page aswell...

Lol, but perhaps they are doing these changes in fases..

I thought perhaps they've done the VIP Neteller accounts first? Or perhaps this is a regualar safety change they only do for VIP accounts? I'm not a VIP that long, so I have no clue if this is normal.. Or actually if this VIP programm even excited before..

Perhaps it's interesting to see what account levels have had changed secutrity numbers

I agree with above, however RTG Casino store your prefered payment method and this includes your security id. If you make another deposit with an RTG casino where you have made a Neteller depo before, You'll only need to fill in the amount you want and click deposit. So for those casinos you might need to update your information.

However, the security ID is indeed only required to make a deposit. At most casino's you'll need to fill out this number every time you deposit. And for a cashout the casino only need an neteller email or your neteller account id.
