I see Neteller have resumed normal service after an abnormally long period of unbroken slick operation:rolleyes:

I can reach the sign on page, enter my details, but it stalls when processing them, and aborts with "an unknown error has ocurred".

If Neteller doesn't even know what is wrong, no way am I making Neteller deposits today!!!

I don't have the patience to research transaction numbers, amounts, etc, and wade through levels of CS at both ends to retrieve any deposits that end up in a black hole.

I would like to know how you knew of this 4 year old thread in order to bump it. Surely that's a job and a half, and it's far easier to start a new thread.

If we could get to the bottom of this, we may be able to suggest ways Bryan can tweak the forum to prevent this from happening so often.

Anyway, Neteller was OK earlier, and I was able to discover it's my turn this morning to fall victim to the random locked account pending verification that others have mentioned over the weekend. The trigger in my case seems to have been the £3000 I received from casino rewards this morning as I was able to deposit throughout the weekend without triggering the lock.

The excuse was that I have exceeded my annual funding limit, which is BS because I would have done that the last time I funded my account. If they are counting withdrawals from merchants, then it's STILL BS because I have received less of these than before, so much so that I have lost my platinum status and now I'm back on Gold.

Now, having uploaded the document requested, I find from here that they have gone down again:(

Type "neteller down" into search on top right of screen and it comes up immediately.I assumed as neteller was "down again" it was the correct place to post.
I also fell foul of the "random locked account" problem after i made a deposit and tried to transfer to merchant.Sent docs and now its down.

Quicker to attach to the VIP email address and send.

My Skrill account was "randomly" locked last week too. Reassuring to see you folks having similar issues though.

I had problems with the log-in too but I'm now able again.

Not necessarily. The last spat I had with them was repeated non receipt of my emails during a previous account verification, and it was pretty random as they were getting some but not others. At least with the upload they can't claim they didn't get it because the upload process confirms successful receipt. The worst they can do now is reject the document for some spurious reasons, maybe it's blurred, too white, too black, etc:rolleyes:

I did also get an email, but this directed me to use the upload, and didn't provide for sending the documents back by email. It's possible they got into trouble for using insecure email for handling personal information as defined in the Data Protection Act, something I may have mentioned in passing during the previous spat where they kept "losing emails containing my personal data as covered by the DPA and the ICO:D".

However, there is a distinct smell about this whole affair. I was told I had exceeded my annual limits, but I have a VIP verified account which has spent 2 years at platinum. I was "exceeding the limits" even more during this time, but verification has ALWAYS been notified in advance, and time given to send the documents before the account was restricted. Now the restriction happens the instant the request is generated, yet exceeding a deposit allowance is easily foreseeable based on my regular activity, so they should have been able to give me enough time to send in the documents and have them verified before I hit the limit.

I rather suspect that they are lying, and this whole thing has arisen due to something very recent, like them discovering a recent hack on their database which like the last one they want to keep hidden from customers and merchants alike, but for which they also need to find out whether or not accounts have actually been hijacked, so they are having a reverification trigger go off on all accounts that hit a relatively small threshold, and using some BS reason to explain to customers why.

They ONLY want the proof of address, NOT another set of ID documents, and can't allow a second of grace between requesting this and disabling transactions on the account. Then after a weekend of all this, they mysteriously go down today:confused:

This means that the earlier theory that the UKGC had something to do with it can be dismissed as it's not simply UK players, but players from other countries, that have experienced this.

They wanted proof address AND id from me (verified in 2 1/2hrs)

Hopefully they are as fast with mine. The message did say that I would be sent confirmation when verification has been completed, but Neteller are not known for their speed in dealing with customers, and verification in casinos can take days rather than hours, even with CS responding within minutes to queries.

My usual way off uploading files wouldn't upload so I decided to try the different file formats in order to see if one took, I'm sure the first was PNG and it uploaded but would they be able to read it at there end? That's when I see the VIP email address under the upload section and decided to go with an email including a good telling off.

I don't know much about file types and having my Netteler account shut down over the weekend wasn't going to be a blessing in disguise? Then a backward and forward file exchange to one took, I was already pissed off for no warning like you and others.

I'm unable to login at all today. I just get a blank page with the message...

Service Unavailable

The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

I tried to log on just now and it didn't take it froze a little and then allowed me in on my second attempt.

I still have backup, my Cahoot debit card. However I am thinking I need to have more of a balance rather than having almost all of my gambling money in Neteller and just enough for a few days of the 20K Tournament in Cahoot.

A withdrawal from 32Red was processed and credited to my Neteller during the time it was restricted, so it is restricted rather than suspended. Had this bounced back to 32Red I would have told them to send it to the card instead.

The usefulness of Neteller is declining by the day, a bank would get into serious trouble if account holders were locked out en masse for a few days at random and couldn't pay bills or receive salaries. Nat West DID, and got a hefty fine for changing their systems and screwing up so as to leave customers without access to their money for a couple of days.

The main problem I have had with cards is the trigger happy banks constantly interrupting legitimate casino deposits of more than £100, so for low rollers this probably isn't a problem they have ever experienced. The Cahoot card is the ONLY card I now have that doesn't do this, so Neteller had better appreciate that this could be a viable alternative to their service now that we have UK regulation and licencing system that gives banks some idea of which casinos are OK and which might be "high risk".

Neteller was originally developed for the US market because of banks there constantly blocking deposits and withdrawals, so it's business model needs to adapt to the current marketplace or they will drive customers back to cards, and this seems to be what casinos would prefer happened in any case.

Anyone else having problems today? I've been trying to log in for the last 30 mins all i get is "service unavailable"? Becoming a bit of a joke:mad:

I quit using neteller years ago because of their constant problems and unscheduled downtime which lasts days.

I am worried they will end up making skrill the same rubbish :(

I think a lot of the issues stem from the stupid 'mobile' interface they have forced on us. I prefer the old layout...

Nate

Completely agree Nate it looks (and works on desktop anyway) like shit! There are some functions that you still can't perform from the "mobile" site and have to revert to the old one to do,that is if it lets you, a lot of the time when i hit "view the old site" i get directed to something random like "thank you for your payment". really wish they would get their act together:mad:
