Always strikes me as cynical when actual software developers and companies hop onboard the 'gamble safely!' train, unlike dedicated charities or organizations set up specifically for that.

Given that software houses' main objective is to make games that appeal to as many people as possible, make them spend as much time & money as possible, and essentially make them hooked on that particular title at any one time!

What next? Maybe have shark conventions, dispelling the negative stereotypes around the Jaws films 🤔

Was thinking very much the same.

It's a bit like big pharma lobbying.

I think a more responsible move would be to stop making the same game in a different paying version to rip players off with. That would show more care than a few spare quid thrown at a new charity we already have scores of. Tax break maybe?

Bit like the responsible gaming tools the casinos advertize providing coz they care so much (about being fined)

Yes, it's all an illusion of care neatly crafted by the UKGC.

However, the tools I do think are useful, which makes me now think, if MG can be of some use in the form of a charity, maybe that will help someone too :)

Agree with Goatie though that it is a conflict of interest and unimpressive, especially as (if memory serves me correctly) the big names have been wrangled into promoting safer gambling by the UKGC with their contributions. And also from a developer who hides RTP info at the bottom of a help file linked to the game.

Some tools are useful providing the changes are not used to hassle the player,Meccas thinking is that any loss limit change
downwards means the player cannot afford to gamble, any increase has to be investigated to assure affordability and a time
out means the player spends too much time gambling.I endured it for 2 years with them before I pissed them off.

If they have issues finding a good charity case they can always PM me for my details.
A worthy cause? :D

Usually operators need to provide the tools, but aren't obliged to promote any specific campaigns.

Yes, I agree that tools should be a personal choice and not forced upon anyone,

As we have touched on before, nothing stops you from wasting all your money on scratchcards, alcohol or the hundreds of other things of an addictive nature.

I appreciate SGW is more of a marketing gimmick than anything substantial, but it's curious that many of the casinos aren't even keeping up the facade this year - a few have put up the banners and articles as expected, one casino emailed me despite having a closed account for a couple of years, a couple haven't mentioned it at all, and one decided Monday was the perfect time to test out a new feature and replace full-width promotional banners with quarter-size ones, I wonder why... 🤣
