Hi,

I noticed something that I think is quite upsetting for those playing Mega Moolah or The Dark Knight pooled jackpot and does so in for example SEK and NOK.

I’ve now learned that this jackpot is in local currencies. The math is still the same so you still have the same chance of winning BUT you just get one tenth of the value of the jackpot if you play for example in SEK as I did. This means that if you play in SEK and win you get approximately SEK 4.900.000 (=EUR 500.000). If you play it in EUR you get EUR 4.900.000 (=SEK 500.000). You still seed the jackpot just as much so why should you just get one tenth? How is it in GBP do you get £490.000 wich is 30% more than thoose playing in EUR.

Is it just me or doesn’t this sound strange?

The jackpots are shared between all Microgaming casinos and a percentage of each bets goes towards the jackpots. Hence there is a difference if you bet 1 Euro or 1 SEK as the value added to the jackpots is much higher with Euro. Means that if you bet in SEK the jackpot will be paid out in SEK. Best would be to play in GBP as then the it would have the highest monetary value. :) :)

So to take your example:

Jackpot at 4.900.000:

Bet in GBP = Win GBP 4.900.000
Bet in Euro = Win EURO 4.900.000
Bet in SEK = Win SEK 4.900.000
etc etc

I agree with you conclusion.

My issue however is that if I bet 10 SEK and you bet 1 EUR we contribute just as much to the pooled jackpot BUT if I hit the jackpot I get paid one tenth of what you get. The chance of us hitting the jackpot is also the same.

Apparently you have more chance of winning the lottery than this jackpot.

I'm sure I read that on CM a few years back.

It depends Matti. What are the possible bets on let's say the original MegaMoolah 25 line slot? In Euro/$ the slot has denominations of 0.01, 0.02 and 0.05 cents with max bet 6.25 Euro/$. Is that the same for you in SEK?

If yes, then you will contribute less to the jackpot and payout in SEK is OK.

If your denomination is different and your max bet is 60SEK than you are right. The jackpot should be 46.000.000SEK equivalent to 4.900.000 Euro

You're right with the denomination

So you mean that the "only" thing is that I can't win really big. I know EUR500.000 is a lot but EUR 4.900.000 is more :D

This might be the reason why most Scandinavians play Mega Fortune on NetEnt, and also are overrepresented in winning NetEnt jackpots, since that jackpot is the same in all currencies.

I didn't even know there was a difference, probably because I play in usd.

Why we play and win the Netents Jackpots is because that's what we have been offered more. Marketing are more focused on Scandinavia...but you should know that :)
MG isn't that big here yet, and the same way around. I think it will plan out though.

The chances are not same in Mega Moolah. In NetEnt progressives 10 SEK and 1 EURO give about the same chance, but in Mega Moolah 10 SEK gives about 10 times bigger chance to hit jackpot than 1 EUR, and to balance for this, the SEK jackpot is just 10% of EUR jackpot.

Well guess that way is most convenient for the operators.....imagine the nightmare at having to keep changing the jackpot value hourly based on the $$$ fluctuations!!

This is probably the most likely reason as to why it is like it is.

If you are going to play jackpot slots, play in pounds or Euros is my advice.

So, if the jackpot stands at, say, £4,000,000 and someone who's playing in SEK wins it. They'd get 4,000,000 SEK which has a value of £400,000?

Does the jackpot then drop by £400,000 to £3,600,00 or does it clear completely and get reseeded with the default value?
If so, then what happens to that £3,600,000?

It is probably most convenient for Microgaming. The operators can't do anything about this. It's out of their control.

When I play jackpot games I really don't care that much about probability. I know that the odds are not exactly on my side :p

What I want is that chance of hitting "the big one" and that oppurtunity is not given to me on Mega Moolah on most casinos I play. If I win the jackpot in SEK I can just afford two Ferraris. I want at least four :D

It just drops by the £400,000. It was won a few years ago by someone playing with Rand and just dropped by a few hundred thousand.

Netent pay the amount you see in the meter, the amount changes depending on the currency you are playing and you contribute the same percentage of your bet, in fact I think it is only Microgaming that do it this way which means the top bet on Mega Moolah is only 6.25 regardless of the currency used which is a daft way of doing it.

This is Hall of Gods in CNY which is currently at about 3.5 million GBP.

I did not even think about that, my guess it will go back in the pot,

But U.K is more to play, min 30p bet so its like 20c or .21 Euro, (depending on exchange rate) Now come to think about it no wonder people from U.K does not win it :)
