Mastercard withdrawal times

Hi all, annoyingly my bank first direct who Are part of hsbc recently changed my visa to a MasterCard debit card. Previously most casinos using visa direct would get the payments in my account pretty fast, it's now taking 3 working days. Has anyone else had this issue?
Grrr thats annoying. You should open a nationwide basic account and use it for gambling it’s visa direct too.

Just found out my bank are moving to Mastercard too...seems like the 2 day waits (longer at weekends and bank holidays) are going to return. Do Mastercard not have an equivalent to Visa Direct?

Also, it's strange all the UK banks seem to be migrating to Mastercard, must be a reason?

I have always had Mastercard and the couple days wait for money.

Not sure about foreign casinos but times have now changed with the bookies sites like William Hill and Paddy Power. Find that when i withdraw now it only takes a few hours same as it would with Visa Direct for funds to appear in bank now. Been like that for a few months.

Yeah not sure about most sites.

But for example say i would Withdraw from William Hill at 1 in afternoon on a Friday it used to be Early Tuesday morning i got funds. Now if i withdraw its in bank few hours later. And if i withdraw at like 11 at night money is always in bank when i get up in morning.

So if those few sites i use can do it so quick no reason others will not. Not actually sure if it is the bookies making it faster or just Mastercard speeding it up themselves.

Can not say about sites like VS etc. tho as i only use Neteller for foreign based casinos.

Got an email from RBS today saying my Visa card will be changed to Mastercard in December, wont affect me as I use a
dedicated account elsewhere for gambling but seems there is a trend towards this change

Yeah, would be interesting to know the reason as to why a lot of the banks are switching over to Mastercard. I doubt it'll be due to it being of any benefit to the customer

Well slight update here, I started using my starling account for gambling and that is a MasterCard too. Withdrawals come through instantly, just seems to be first direct that take longer for me. Having said all that I'm starting to forget what withdrawals are 😭

It may well be a perfectly reasonable thing to do, and perhaps a contractual or purely business-driven choice to adopt Mastercard in Visa's stead.

Given the current trend of 'ethical' banking and financial institutions wading into the political arena, it wouldn't surprise me either if Mastercard were chosen for their hot take on who they choose as viable customers, as they've already proven to block payments and donations not 'aligned' with their values.

Coupled with Natwest's emails - which are less informative and more hostile these days - companies are taking it upon themselves to purge undesirables.

A lot of these upcoming changes are of course sound in principle, but no clear definitions are ever given. So if decided that peer-to-peer payments received are fishy, you have the bank filtering your transactions, coupled with Mastercard, and before long find your subscription to the Daily Mail annulled, and your account closed!

I suspect this will trickle down to casino transactions also in time. Or maybe not? But one things for certain - if you thought SoWs were a bone of contention, then think again. Banks are delving into people's autonomy evermore, and I guess it's here to stay, and either a good or a bad thing.

Take your pick
