Much appreciated and in week 1 we have 15 people who took the time to play the quiz.
I was hoping for a good few more but 15 is not too bad.

Round 1 was as expected not too hard and most people got all questions correct.
A few stumbled across my question about the movie Rounders.
Got some very funny answers on that one. :)

No, just kidding I haven't watched a movie since Arlington Grove or whatever it was (the neighbourhood terrorist one) at the cinema. The character/actor could have been Lady Gaga with a beard for all I know...

Hi guys,I am very sorry to only post now.
We had a break in the house last Friday night and the whole aftermath is a big big mess.
Loads was stolen including our family car,so we now only have the smaller car left that I use for going to my work every day.
I was lucky I always bring my car keys upstairs with me for some odd reason so they never got my car.
But both mine and my wife's wallets were stolen including bankcards,creditcards and drivers licenses.
On top of that the 2007 Seat Cordoba and cash and jewelery,a laptop,1 mobile and our TV from the sitting room.
Overall a damage of over 18.000 Euro's.
Now the house insurance won't cover the theft of the car as it was obviously not on the house insurance and the car insurance only covers a small bit as we only had it insured for accidents and stuff.
Also loss of cash from the house will not be covered by our insurer so either way we will end up with a big loss here.

Besides of the financial shit I also feel aweful as we were upstairs and never heard a thing!!!!
Knowing my 2 girls were asleep next door room...
I wish I had cought them in the act,I would have demolished them!!

We have to get new bankcards,VISA cards and my wife's phone/sim needs to be replaced also.
And we both need to apply for a new drivers license,which it requires me to go to the Dutch embassy in Dublin.

If we are not getting a full refund for everything I might need to cancel my holidays to my family in The Netherlands as we would not be able to afford it anymore.

Everything is with the Gardai now but I won't expect they find whoever did this as there is a lot of break ins lately in this area.
Mostly just young criminal groups or alcohol/drug addicts.


I will try to get up to speed with the quiz again from coming Saturday and rest assured I have all your answers in my PM folder.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys.

I feel rotten and I am truly sorry about this.

I wish I would have woken up so I could have beaten the shit out of them.

But I'm rather glad you didn't hear them - could have turned sour, fast, and youve yunguns . it's only stuff in the end, but my heart goes out to you, and hope you get through.

Sorry to hear that mate. Sod the quiz, this is far more serious. It actually crossed my mind that it was odd for you to be away from the forum and had something happened? Commiserations, the goods will replaced but the sense of violation takes much longer to forget. I hope your good lady isn't too affected and things get back to normal as soon as possible. And I hope the little c***s who did it get their comeuppance one way or another.

Edit: wrote a pice from my phone on the road and retread it a bit distasteful.

Suggestion: in effort to support mark though his time - this fun event is on hold to be continued with full betat support when the time is right. In the interim, we propise that the prize pool is offered to the person who tried to make our interaction here all that more entertaining. I hope this decision is accepted by all - I see no reason not to.

Mark, real sorry to hear this! Just be thankful your family and your girls are safe! All rest can be replaced over time

But I defo want to go through with this as it gives me fun to do something nice for the forum.

I am off work this week and should have most things sorted by the end of this week.
New bankcards and stuff are already ordered.
Luckely they made no withdrawal attempts with the cards as they were all PIN protected so they only got the cash from our wallets and a little box with some funds that we always keep in the house for emergencies.

Terrible news indeed, i already was a bit worried as in my opinion a guy like you normally keeps to his word, so i was just hoping you weren't in an accident or something, but of course this is just as worse.
Glad noone got hurt and the damage cashwise is limited, but all your possessions must really be a miss.
Also the privacy that was invaded, makes you wonder if you should buy some advanced alarm or something.

Let's hope they catch those bastards, and when your lucky just before they fence your stuff..
No worries indeed on the quiz, it is good fun, and no pressure here whatsoever, since it's a voluntarily effort on your side, i just enjoy playing it, and the prospect of something fun to win is always just an extra..

So sorry to hear this. Yes your private life so much more important than this great quizz you are doing for us Mark. Make sure you do not rush back to run this quiz because you feel like that.

Most important is you get your life fully back on track! Saturday sounds to early to me. Really shocked and sad to hear what happened to you life is just not bloody fair!!!! :eek:
 
Sorry to hear it Mark, and I hope you get everything sorted. It's creepy to think that there are people downstairs rummaging through your house while you're upstairs sleeping though. I have a feeling you might all be a little jumpy now at night - every time you hear a noise you'll be racing down there (with a baseball bat!) and in the morning you'll be exhausted!
 
Oh Mark, this is just awful. Creepy too to be broken into when you are at home.

Did you know you can buy really cheap alarms that work on a magnetic contact? They can be bought for a buck here, and I use them on my windows, especially in the summer when I have them open, if the screen is popped out, the alarm will sound. Useful too if you have young children given to going out of the house without permission!

If you decide to go with monitored security, get a few quotes, and be ready for high pressure sales.

Keep your cell phone on your nightstand when you go to bed. You can put it on silent so you aren't disturbed.

Hope you get your car back. If you are lucky it's just been ditched somewhere and intact.

Don't worry about us, look after yourself and your family first.

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles Mat. I hope the thieves get what's coming to them. It's lucky you didn't hear them though God knows what could have happened in that case (to you not them). You never know the Gardai might catch them as the Gardai usually have a good idea of whose behind the crimes. Criminal law needs to get much tougher in Ireland and the Gardai need to do more to combat property crime and antisocial behaviour in general. That been said I have been broken into once and I know how it feels to have your home violated by scumbags. I wish you and your family the best.

Jasmine in Ireland stolen cars are rarely found intact. These miscreants would have probably taken it on a joyride and wrecked it or chopped it up for parts. Joyriding while not as widespread now as it was in the past still occurs. I'd like it if Mark got back his car in one piece though.
 
So sorry to hear about it, .....the cash and valuables getting robbed sure pinches but there's a lot more hassle with with all the cards and IDs and other important stuff which needs to be replaced.......hope you can get things sorted out and don't worry, the quiz is not running away.....
 
Just a word of warning Lotusch - I lost a wallet a couple of years back and cards were obviously cancelled. I was sent a sheet of transactions by the providers and asked to tick all the genuine transactions (they were all genuine as fortunately the cards weren't misused by then) which I did. Unfortunately they were a couple of small transactions that weren't yet showing for a casino a few days previous. So after the cards were cancelled and these transactions came through, the provider bounced them unbeknown to me. The casino never contacted me to inform me of this, they probably thought I was a chargebacker despite previous deposits being honoured there!
A while later I played there again, won an 810 pounds profit and they wouldn't pay me and was far in excess of the decined amounts. I actually had a thread on here about it as I was understandably well p!ssed-off. I had to accept it though.
In these situations you must be very careful as communication is sometimes lacking and misunderstandings occur.
MAKE SURE you remember any recent play before your horrid burglary or check your casino accounts so you can make sure the banks/providers honour the transactions when your cards are replaced. I know it's a time of stress but it would be sod's law if something you overlooked like I did came back to bite your a$$ later. :eek:
