MALTA HQ

Malta is where the largest European license MGA has its headquarters.
It's also completely legal to run gambling companies here, and is an attractive place for people to move down and work, with its long summers and EU membership.

Why is everywhere seem to have HQ in Malta
Not all are, but predominantly those that target European countries are.
It's the only .com Regulator that is inside the EU. (As IoM, Alderney, Gibraltar may be geographically in Europe, but they do not qualify as EU nations in their own right).

Does it have super low tax on high earning or something ?
Yep

Since Malta has allowed online gambling for so long, with beneficial tax rates, the companies have gathered there. This means also the staff has moved down there, so it makes sense to establish there as you can get hold of staff there.

Jumping in on this (since I'm also Maltese myself) :)

The reasons most gaming companies moved to Malta was due to a number of reasons -

First of all, who doesn't love a sunny island with beaches all around?
Secondly, I believe initially it used to be one of the best places to find people for operational roles as we were used to handling this kind of service before (just not for casinos).
Third, Property prices back at the start was quite low compared to the European average.
Bringing me to point number 4, since Malta had quite low national wages, when Gaming Companies came in, they could make a killing off paying a bit more to their staff, which meant staff would move here cause they could afford the rent comfortably and still live quite a decent life. (Sadly this is changing now thanks to everyone thinking that we all earn millions every month and change our Lambo's every time a speckle of dust lands on our wheels). :D
Number 5 - And this is the one that I'm not sure on how it works but I'll try - Apparently we have good tax rates because non Maltese companies can get tax rebates that lower the tax bracket to just 5%? Don't quote me on this, finance isn't my strong suit. :what::what:

You should try Ireland,

We have beaches too and the wages here ain't bad either.:D
Also we harbor companies like Apple who own the people of this country a few billion in taxes but they do not have to pay them as the government has them on a "special" tariff just to keep them here.

Have you seen the difference in Minimum Wage :)?

Speaking personally here and not as LV BET, it's a god send that we got iGaming companies here in Malta because they forced our minimum wages to rise. They're still nowhere close to Ireland, and you guys even have the good beer :(

Malta has attractive tax conditions for operators :-)
That as well as being a sunny beautiful little island in great growth that attracts people from all over the world, makes it a great place.

Malta has since joining the EU, been the HUB in iGaming which has been one of their main focuses as well. This plays a factor as well. Commitment.

Kasper,

Then again... rent/house prices are quite steep!
And if there's a single sign of snow, all of the shops run out of bread and Lidl start panicking.

Ireland is simply beautiful. I said at the time to my travel companion: "the sky is bluer than blue and the grass is greener than green" :D

Did a bicycle tour from Dublin down south on the coast and back via the countryside. Unforgettable experience for both of us.

But there is something that is very different to a sunny island in the Mediterranean. In Ireland you never know if the weather will stay dry in the next 30 minutes. It changes often so quick and when you are on a bicycle with no shelter in sight it means you are every day literally drenched at some point. :D :D Still loved the tour.

€1,300 is pretty good for Dublin IMO.
If they were to look at commuter towns/counties like Meath, Kildare, Wicklow etc, rental prices tend to drop dramatically.
As a rule of thumb, if it's in Dublin, expect to pay through the nose for it!
Some rental sites have single bedrooms being rented for upwards of €700 per month.

one of my bucket list is to visit Ireland with my wife and son, as you sad "the sky is bluer than blue and the grass is greener than green" i also think the same!!!

What? You dont? Whats next you gonna tell me there isnt a huge fire bell that goes of inside the offices when someone gets an bonanza bonus? :D

Due to budget cuts, we've now replaced that with the casino manager crying and moping. But don't worry, we're covered with LV BET Branded Tissues. (They're even better than 2 ply!)

Ya'll can come here - some places you can still buy 100 acres for under 100K and players enjoy nice tax-free wins. Gods know we have enough room; roughly the population of California and you can see the size of the country.

Of course, expect the power to go out every storm and you might want a sled dog or 12 to make it into the office :P

How much would the lawnmower cost though?

Dion is silly. We have snowmobiles now.

PEI and New Brunswick have beaches, low cost of living and business incentives. They are home to a few call centres, so you will be able to find qualified support staff, as unemployment is also high. Of you get homesick Connor, you will find no shortage of places to enjoy Irish music, and maritime music with its strong Irish roots.

I love St Paddy's. Tis a wonderful thing we all get one day to be Irish.

I have three YouTube playlists. Two of them are Irish. The other is Christmas.

Honestly, I make Irish soda bread frequently if I am out of bread.

The
I make the brown one. If you are not UK or Ireland, oatmeal means more like Oat flour. Just pulverize some rolled oats in a blender or food processor ntil they look like brown flour.

I do mine on a sheet pan, and have never used buttermilk, just soured milk.

My friend and I have just booked a long weekend in Malta from 30/3 - 4/2 Any recommendations from those that live there on what to do in our couple of days? :D

Definitely visit the following places if you have time -

Rabat / Mdina - If you like GoT and want to see the original King's Landing Entrance of Season 1
The various Neolithic Temples around the island / The Half Saflieni Hypogeum if you have chance but you need to book ASAP through Heritage Malta
Our Capital City Valletta of course :D - The Town built by the knights of St John. (Deffo the co-cathedral there)
Gozo & Comino - Our sister islands, Gozo -Citadella (a walled city) / Comino for a view of the only barely touched island of the Maltese Archipelago.

And well if you're a casino lover (shocker!), you might want to spend your pocket money at Portomaso Casino :)

While I don't live in Malta, I've been tourist a couple of times.

Drink Cisk. Have a Kinnie. It is an orange pop that is nothing like Fanta. People either love it or hate it. Have rabbit, it is the national dish, and make sure to get a gelato.

Grab a snack from a Pastizzi. Anything is good in puff pastry or filo, but ricotta cheese and a mushy pea one are traditional.

Have dinner or lunch seaside at least once. Angelo's in Buggiba is reasonably priced, and a lot of the boat tours leave from right near there.

Definitely take a cruise. Depending how hearty you are, you may or may not want to swim, but the Blue Lagoon is the nicest water I have ever been in, and will be warmer than most beaches.

The co-catheral is awesome. If you like history, there are some war museums. Malta was pivotal during WWII, and the Dome at Mosta might be worth a Visit.

Bus service is good, and a cheap way to see a bunch of the island. Taxis are expensive.

Pizza is good, go to a one with a traditional oven, not a chain.

Tirileg lived there for a while a few years ago, she'd be a good one to ask.

If by any chance you are staying in San Pawl, drop by Jester's Pub and tell them Linda from Canada sent you. pm me if you are, I'm on Facebook with some of the staff.

I'm assuming you booked a package, so have your accommodation sorted. Hope you didn't buy full board.

I'm only a little jealous. Honestly. Probably won't be your last.

Oh, and if any casino wants to sponsor a trip to Malta, you can have my deposits while it runs. I'm sure I could swing transatlantic fare by summer.

When was your last time here Jasmine? It’s too early in the year to swim :eek2:

Also Pastizzi is actually a thing you buy from Pastizzerias :p They’re good if you’re planning to explain to your doctor why your Cholesterol levels spiked.

Regarding buses, well, let’s just say they can be better.

If you need any hints or suggestions while in Malta, just send me a PM and I’ll send you my number so you can WhatsApp me if you have any issues

June 2017. Stayed for three weeks. That was my second visit, first was 10 days back in 2011 or 2012. As for swimming, keep in mind CC07 is from Scotland. In my teens and 20s I was into Lake Ontario to swim by the time it got up to 12 or so, and in up to my thighs just as soon as the ice was clear from the shore. After my first visit to the Caribbean, I became spoiled, and don't even enjoy much at 20 anymore. I'll go in if the day is warm enough, but not for long at a stretch.
