I might end up visiting China this year. I am interested in stopping in Macau to try some casinos. Just how do they do their blackjack tables? Are all tables in Yuan or Dollars or anything else? Are there exchange counters in the casinos?

Do all baccarat and blackjack tables use the continuous shuffle machines? Do most tables use a card shoe? What is the common table limits there?

Havent been there for a couple of years myself but there are so many casinos table limits should not be a problem. They commonly accept Hong Kong Dollars and Macau patacas where the conversion rate is around 1USD = 8 HKD. Patacas around the same. Moe than half the tables are baccarat ones and they provide new decks of cards for continuous non-stop betting(well that's their term) BJ isnt that common and there are usually lower limits (around USD 250) whereas for baccarat it can be as high as USD 125000 per hand or as low as USD 25 per hand. PM me should you want to know more.

Thanks for the information, Chuchu. I guess I was asking if the tables' cards are hand-shuffled or not. Anyway, I will contact you when I actually get my visa. :D

The cards are hand-shuffled at a separate table and taken to the gaming table in a cloaked shoe. The objective is to have as many hands played as possible for the house edge to show its might.

I've always wanted to visit that part of the world

But before I hit Macau, I'm going to have to learn to play baccarat! :D

It sounds like its a whole production in that part of the world!

And, it seems, I have a favorable exchange rate!

That'll be a nice change from the online world for me. :p

People in my part of the world bet crazy on baccarat because the rules are simple and the house edge is low. I once saw a guy with a group of cronies betting $1 million HKD per hand and they bet $10k HKD each. They lost every hand while I was there. (I wanted to bet against them but feared there might be a backlash from them. I have heard players lose HKD100 M in a single marathon session. They get their thrills by peeking at the edge of the cards and shout. This function is available in the MG version of High Limit Baccarat. Doesnt change the outcome but adds to the thrills and excitement. I love paigow tiles more as my fingers get the sensation through feeling the tiles just like in mahjong. The more stupid you play the more likely you will win at baccarat as its pure luck unlike BJ where the counting of '5' cards is important.

I witness this at the Atlantic City casinos all the time. Over at the Tropicana Casino, they have a large Asian Room full of baccarat and high limit blackjack. The baccarat tables are always overcrowded with Asians at night and they all are VERY serious about their baccarat play. They would bend their cards to peek at it and I wondered what difference would that make? These cards could only be used once as the casino has to throw out (burn the bag) these cards because they are all bent. I asked one dealer about the bending of the cards and they said that it really doesn't change things. Well, I guess it is just a cultural thing that adds to the action of their baccarat play.
