Hi - as a relative newcomer to the online casino world - playing roulette I have noticed there have been some very long continuous sequences - for example a long run of "red" the few times I have noticed this the "run" is usually broken after 8 or 9 of the same whether it be colour or odd/even numbers - but yesterday on a well known Casino site - I witnessed a staggering 16 consecutive reds - is this something that happens regularly or can be looked at as something that is very rare? - any advice on these things would be appreciated

Roulette can be a bitch, but is a fun game when your on a streak, the longest run on one colour i have seen personally was a streak of 23 consecutive reds where i was solely betting 17 black :(

The longest recorded streak, iirc, was somewhere in a Land-based in the USA where there was an incredible run of 36 reds in a row...
I'll try to dig up the article...

Edit:
The longest recorded streak of one color in roulette in American casino history happened in 1943 when the color red won 32 consecutive times -

I was 4 off

Being a croupier for two years and also playing online roulette for the last three years, i must say that sequences like that occur all the time.

Sometimes there are long sequences of the same colour while other times the colour changes on every spin.

I guess that is what makes roulette so unpredictable while at the same time so popular and exciting!

Don't play too much roulette but I noticed that there are very long running sequences for either 'banker' or 'player' in Baccarat which is essentially the same thing. 15-20 straight bankers or players is very common. In fact, it could easily occur in a single shoe of cards.

^ This. I love roulette but have slowed down playing. Along with long running color hits, I've also seen numbers repeat an insane amount of times. Then of course when you pick that number it changes  ......... no I don't think it's rigged :p

Definitely can be a rewarding but highly frustrating game. Best to hit fast, hard, and run for the hills....imho

Thanks Guys - Very useful info posted - I particularly like the "hit em hard and run for the hills" opinion :)
Is there a specific place I can officially "thank" people as I want to show my appreciation of these answers.

I think after 2 more posts you will see the "thanks" button appear under every post:)
Could be ten posts total as well, then you have a mere 7 to go!

Interesting thread! I've been playing roulette for like 10 years now and have experienced the craziest sequences. Although I must confess I slowed down my play the last few years.

The ball ending on black or red 10+ times in a row is a common thing which happens every once in a while. Something Martingale players think it will never happen, well that's why their strategy is obviously doomed to fail.

I'm interested to know though, what's the longest sequence you guys experienced while playing roulette as far the ball landing on a particular in row. Me personally I never saw it happen more than four times in a row.

I still can remember which numbers they were as well lol 1) 18-18-18-18 2) 17-17-17-17 3) 26-26-26-26

When this occured...I was playing any of these numbers:rolleyes: I usually up my bets when i hit a number, but it hardly ever repeats in one sequence then.

If my cowboy math is not wrong:

red numbers = 18
total numbers = 37 (European Roulette)
same color in a row = 16
then: (18/37)^16 = 0.000984%

red numbers = 18
total numbers = 38 (American Roulette)
same color in a row = 16
then: (18/38)^16 = 0.000642%

But as Roulette don't have memory, the chances of getting red or black on any given spin are 18/37 (48.65%) for European Roulette and 18/38 (47.37%) for American Roulette.

I once witnessed the following sequence.

3-25-11-29-1-0-24-3-8-30

1 in 620000000000000 chance of seeing that again. Just completely unreal.

16 consecutive reds - is this something that happens regularly

21 consecutive reds is just as common, now all one needs is a 1p min to £21K max table limit.

1p :) 2p  4p :lick: 8p  16p :D 32p  64p ;) £1.28 <3 £2.56 :what: £5.12  £10.24  £20.48 £40.96 £81.92 £163.84 £327.69 £655.38 £1310.76 £2621.52 £5243.04 £10,486.08 £21K

Phew! One got ones one penny in the end.
