I was just thinking about how different my life is now. I spend more time online, but little of it is gambling.

Then: Work to stay centered.
Now: Work to pay the bills.

Then: Take 'my' money and play online.
Now: My finances are comingled and my partner influences whether I feel good about gaming online.

Then: Make money online and spend it onland
Now: Deprive ourselves of little treats so we can go to reno and vegas (I was a few hundred shy of a good time our last trip)

Then: Spend some free time gambling
Now: Damn near live on this forum

Then: Thought I had it figured out
Now: i don't know

Maybe it's time to take a break and enjoy the springtime:thumbsup:

lol, gives me a chuckle lojo....

I miss how easy it was.... instant gambling through NETeller. Don't we all I suppose.

I'm cashing out now. Its a slow process so far. Too close to the deadline for the regulations, and I don't want any money out there till I see how small this 'eye of the needle' gets.

I find myself battling the enemy in the Sky's playing Falcon 4 in an F-16 jet. Or crossing a city invaded by aliens and corrupt soldiers playing Half-Life 2. Well I might as well play video games, what the heck! Playing Blackjack for fun money is no fun at all.

Going to use my money to take a few Scuba diving trips. That will take my mind off gambling. The first Blue shark (better yet, Great white or Tiger (very rare)) that makes a close pass and I'll get more adrenaline than a months worth of gambling!

Got to wait and see what happens now, after the new regulations are put in place. Maybe I'll try something later in the summer, if its even possible then. Good ole Gonzales sure knew where to turn the screws on us. (my thumbs!)

Ya... the time I once spent gambling and doing contests on EZBoards is now spent in here harassing CM members. :D I post too much, too often (and I'm sorry) but while I can live peaceably without gaming online, I find it difficult to accept quietly the entire small minded, hypocritical process that has made it nearly impossible for me to gamble online.

i feel bad for people like my mom and grandma. my mom is older and really doesnt like hoppin in the car and driving to atlantic city like she used to. my grandma is pushing 90 and it's the same thing. i had accounts set up for both of them and gambling online was a great pasttime for them. old granny still plays for free. i bring her up some cash now and again and tell her it's from the casino. she doesnt know the difference. lol. myself? i just go down to a.c. more often and i'll be hittin vegas a few more times yearly. i love to play but i wont be playing online until this all blows over.

Well, when I first discovered the exciting world of bonus-hustling, shortly pre-UIGEA, it began to have a "time time to make the donuts" feel. Kind of a lot of work registering accounts at a million places, installing software, figuring out T&Cs, keeping track of deposits and withdrawals. Lucrative, but a lot of work.

Now, the number of casinos I can bonus play at has shrunk to... like 4. So I play a few times a month. It takes up a lot less of my time, which is nice.

And if I need to get my gamble on, there's plenty of opportunity in Indian country. Card counting is a lot tougher than bonus-hustling, though.

I myself never really played a lot at land based casinos even though there are a few near me here in Missouri. I could never play at a land based casino like I play online.

My progressive craps betting would get me killed in a land based casino not because it is magic and I make millions but craps players would freak on me for changing and messing with their action even though we know one player rarely affects another but craps players are weird lol

Oh and my slot play, I do the "hit and run" on MG slots, I start low, build up, hit a feature then move to another slot. I would be running all over the place at a land based casino, here online it is a click of the button.

I am pretty new to the online gambling scene, I only started playing online last July so I don't think I will miss it much although I do like to play and I spend a lot of time in here posting also since this forum really helped me out when I was new to the whole world of online gambling.

thanks lojo

for starting this thread. Not being able to gamble where/when I want has sure left me with a lot more time on my hands. I don't know if I really miss the on-line casinos or just spent too many years playing them and got accustomed to a routine. The one, and only, casino I still play at (MG) has begun to aggravate me with their cheap comps and bonuses so I rarely deposit/play there anymore either.

I have been spending a lot more time on Ebay adding to my collections and I may even start doing some antique shows again. Fountain pens in Chicago, marbles in Ohio, WVa. and Vegas, etc. I am even contemplating selling a little on Ebay. BTW- Does anyone think there is any truth to the rumor that my state, NY, is going to go after sellers for uncollected state sales tax? Supposedly they are going to start by going after those with Ebay stores first. Personally, I wouldn't put anything past these money grubbers.

I know I am spending less time on the computer as of late .
I have also been hitting more bookstores and reading TONS . I do miss it though . Been over a month and counting since I deposited anywhere besides my membership with POGO .
My house is also cleaner . I do still spend most of my online time visiting the forums but that's because I like the crowd . :)

I don't know how to use the 'multi-quote' yet, but a simple 'thanks' doesn't seem enough so I'll reply to each. Thanks for sharing.

I've worried/wondered about the 270 day thing too, but mostly worried about getting my funds caught up in the 'changing environment'. GAWD I miss the neteller days too :)

I tried to load up old games I used to play, but have been too lazy to get a usb joystick for Descent, and a lot of the others don't turn me on anymore. (never got used to the game controller thingys)

Ice is just coming off our local lakes. Great idea. I used to love to snorkel, I've never dived, nor swam in the salt waters. I'll have to try that. But I don't want any adrenaline underwater:eek2: I could do it in a cage I guess.

Gonzo and his ilk have changed my lifestyle, and that is not okay.

Thanks.

Mousey, if you think you sound like a broken record, you're wrong! Every post I read is well thought out and properly placed. When my mind wanders post to post, there you are with reason and insight. Thank you! You are one of my anchors here. I am not so good at not playing, but at least I'm being frugal and semi-careful:)

That is freakin sweet, huh? I tried to get my Grandma to go to a casino again, but she is well over 90 and she thought it would be too much of a burden on me (I knew it would be on her).
I've never been to Atlantic City. After losing once in Vegas I thought I'd try Reno to build up to Vegas to finance ac and then over seas. Hasn't worked out that way... yet? lol

Funny how online used to be something I could pop into with no fear, no guilt. It's a struggle now. My priorities are changing every day. Family is always number one. But now I have conflicts, it shouldn't be that way. Maybe I will quit online... Maybe I am obsessed rather than passionate... NAH!!

Thanks

Glory days, huh? I kind of did it my own way, not knowing there were 'ways' to use bonuses :) Amazing isn't it? Getting in on a good thing. Who knows where it's going, I don't. The bonus thing could be over, i dunno.

No one can count the numbers in play, but here is the roulette when I walked up to it: 17-17-something else i walked away-17 it's on casino camera. three out of four seventeens. No kidding. I digress. Shoulda been there :)

I'm too lazy to play poker, let alone count cards, but i totally respect the ability.

Ahhhh that fresh spring air!

I only started online a year or so ago too. I probably never would have found the forum if I didn't freak out when neteller quit me. But i do see some people here that I ran across while looking for a safe place to play.

I have never thrown the dice in a casino onland or even hung out at the table. Everytime I was going to, it got weird, like you say. But they won't 'kill ya'. Bet from the darkside for hecksache, it's just a game:D

I always wanted to play on a riverboat (are casinos onland now in MO?)

Two ways to do the hit and run if you have time. Find all the machines of same theme in the place and work them, or just move from mode to mode (consoles, sitdowns, levitators, etc.) It's all the same really (or as close as I have found)

Now hold onto at least 500 of that locked up money and low roll, or slow roll, even if its max per line and 3 or 5 lines.. you'll love it (or hate it if you see a line hit that you didn't play, but steadfast make it!)

I'm drunk and tired Rettahs, and my workshift just changed to mornings, so please never mind any idiocy:) Thanks for replying here. I'm looking at everything before I make my decision. I know my lifestyle has changed, and I don't like it, but say la vee, huh:D

I know what you mean about time on your hands. I've had to go back to work fulltime to fill up my days. At least it's a situation where I set my own hours so I still have some independance.

Ebay could be fun. I wish I would have got in early, it seems harder and harder to find the sweet deals. Craigslist has been good for finding stuff cheap (shhhh) I never got around to the actual buying or selling but spent about a week priciong Hoosier cabinets. They're too cool. Bought a few turn of the century 'revenues' (really just stamps) from central america, haiti, etc.

It would be great fun to get an RV and travel with goods, huh?

I wouldn't doubt they'll try to get the taxes, or try the federal sales tax thing again. argggh

Have fun:thumbsup:

I should read more, I really used to enjoy it. I got pretty deep into the 'classics' for a while; Stienbeck, Cormack MacCarthy, Maughum, and favorite book of all time is 'Light in August' by Faulkner. Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy author is AA Attanasio. Also Orson Scott Card when he's on.

There is a great crowd here. I don't get out much otherwise though, but see quite of few CM people on other forums when I do look.

I am going to spend less time here now I think. The ice is coming off the lakes and it's time to fish and paddle a canoe, and soon hunt for the wiley Morel mushrooms, go camping in the platlands (still down to 15* here last night. Might get back into music and my art... ahhh the world is my oyster.. and only 3 months til Vegas :D

Have fun:thumbsup:

Lojo, you are a legend! I cant believe all your posts and thanks! :notworthy This is a lovely thread, and I feel for all of you. The situation state side must be really difficult and I hope things a resolved as soon as pos, however you all sound like you are using your time productively;

lojo, camping and canoeing sounds idyllic! Hope you have fun in Vegas!

Random, the shark diving sounds amazing I love scuba diving, but not sure about the sharks!

Lojo ... to use 'multi-quote' just click the multi-quote button in each post that you want to include in your 'Post Reply'. It will turn red when you click it, and clicking it again will turn it off and thus exclude it from your post. When you click 'Post Reply' you will see them all sequentially in the 'Reply to Post edit window'. Then all you have to do is edit in your reply between the appropriate post. Such as in this case, I clicked your multi-quote button on the post above, and purplenaomi's multi-quote button post below, and then finally I clicked 'Post Reply'. But the way you did it just fine anyway, its just for convenience. :)

Yes the world under the Sea is whole different world, I love it too. As for the Sharks ... Well ... they can be amazing to watch and a bit scary too. But the more dangerous ones like the Tiger and the Great White are best watched from a cage !! lol ! Sharks aren't generally interested in a Scuba Diver and tend to swim away as soon as they see you. Scuba gear and all the bubbles does not look like food to them. If you stretch out your arms and make yourself longer they are even less likely to make a close pass; they just want to see what you are, like many fish. One thing though, you don't want to be carrying speared fish on your belt and be in Shark territory. Although they want the fish they might bite your leg trying to get them. Cut them loose and swim away. I'll see mostly Sand, Leopard, Bull, and much more rarely a Blue or White tip around here in the Channel Islands. I haven't run across a Great White yet. I definitely would not want to be at the surface if I did. I'd go down, Great whites are mostly interested in surface activity in hunting for food, and unless you go to their territory (South Africa, Australia, off the coast of Baja a ways) your very unlikely to ever see one. ;)
