Doubt 14m will make a dent in their profits, what are their annual profits like?

It’ll be the threat of loss of license that hits more IMO. Pretty much the other way round to the Maltese casinos I think who I feel wouldn’t be too perturbed by losing their UK license but will feel the hit of any fine.

The thing that gets me is that we see case after case on here of low rolling people getting nothing but grief with SOW bollocks yet really it’s the obvious 6 figure cases that are rightly seeing the punishments dished out for and what are the focus of UKGC investigations. There’s a whole world of difference between Mr Bloggs who deposits £100 a week and the nefarious punter ploughing in thousands a week.

The whole thing is a mess and there has to be a meet in the middle balance that doesn’t involve innocent casual depositors having withdrawals held to ransom.

Never had an issue with Ladbrokes. Had some decent wins there. Been with them 10 years or so.

Despite my occasional issues (only one being what could be described as an ongoing niggly issue which took several emails to resolve) I do remember some good times and I was a very regular depositor back in the day.

They ran some awesome weekend promos on their MG download client and the shop was only a 5 minute drive away to collect on my lucky days.

This thread has jogged another memory, wife won 1K from a 50p stake on this 3 reel ATM styled slot with Stars on the reels and gold coins, unsure of the name, Money Spinner or something like that.

They weren't clueless when they handed me the cash over the counter without even asking to see ID :p

Yes I joined whilst the old MG client was still operational there. I remember they took a dip when they were Playtech focussed straight after the ditching of the MG client but soon improved again.

I really can’t grumble as the GVC group of casinos is where I hit my all time biggest withdrawal (only a couple of k but still my biggest win to date).

Ladbrokes is crafty fuck. rs; they never asked for a piece of paper until a few weeks back. I didn't give them anything, and they set an annual loss limit of 18k for me, meaning I'm free to deposit all this money right now in one go or stretch it through the year... Of course, they want it as soon as possible, lol.

I also like their (and not only) responsible gambling reminders, whose true intent is to encourage me to make a deposit. :D

If we're to go by some of the older figures stated in articles, Ladbrokes make around £1.5mil per day in profits, so this token fine dished out has inconvenienced them for approximately eleven days. Ooh, I'm shuddering!

All this further proves is that the UKGC don't care about player protection, and are more concerned with people's shocked reaction to what seems a large fine. When in reality it's about as impactful as fining Shell £50 million or Ezra Miller $60 for drunk & disorderly behaviour.

It's self-serving, it's cynical, not to mention good publicity for the UKGC, that they're truly not messing around anymore, that they won't stand for it.

And yet they must know that. To actually have an effect on the likes of Ladbrokes, you'd have to dole out a larger fine that that, surely. Because this penalty will be forgotten before the month is out, and will have achieved nothing, in relation to making the company sit up and actually take note.....
