It's been a strange trip and back

Hi all!

Sorry for the absence of the past couple of weeks! I had been back out in the desert, with a side trip to Vegas for the G2E, and then to Utah to watch the solar eclipse - back to the desert, and then back to the UK for my b-day weekend.

And now I am back.

That type of eclipse -- not total coverage -- is apparently called Annular:



Not that I remembered that, had to look it up.

Makes me think that the Turkish flag actually depicts an eclipse and not a typical crescent phase of the Moon.

I'm pretty sure that's the flag for the little-known Grumpy Walrus opposition party and not officially recognized.

To be fair its pretty hard for a opposition party to be recognized in Turkey.

My set up - Nikon D5200 on a Polarie tracking mount. ND filter 100,000.

The hardest part was getting the focus right. Very tricky.

Why are the group at the front dressed as Chinese rice farmers? But yeah, my last eclipse was August 1999 a total one, with watery cloud so not great. Plus you cannot ever get enough beaver, they've been reintroduced to the forests near me too.

I got to see a total eclipse once and it was a lifetime highlight.
