I take no credit for the idea, but I'm going to pick it up and run with it. The point he makes in the post is:

I am fan of late night TV and every night I see numerous adverts for online casinos - some of which bore the tits off me and I tend to find reading the small print more interesting than the ad itself. Why can't these big boys of the business name and shame the crap operators? Duracell rubbish the opposition, Fairy washing up liquid trash the competition, etc. Come on 32 Red/Betfair/Slot Boss/Paddy Power/etc, publicly say you will pay the progressive jackpot in one hit (unlike Brand X casino who kept half the winnings for themselves), state how you are properly licensed and regulated with certified games, how safe you are, etc. Shock and scare your audience as to what can and has happened and guide them to a safe place to play!

I disagree with naming BetFair by the way, but otherwise what a great idea it is! It's so unbearably mundane to see a big name casino run an advertisement saying "join now and get £5 COMPLETELY FREE!" like I'm going to call in sick to take advantage of that incredible offer

Why don't the big boys just tell potential customers what makes them stand out? Everyone knows you can win millions on certain progressive games, but not everyone is aware that some casinos will shaft you if you ever do win such a jackpot. So why not specifically state "and don't forget, if you win the big one with us, we will pay you IN FULL right away. Something not all casinos can guarantee" (that last line alone will turn some heads).
Instead of rhyming off the same old swathe of games that everyone has seen, why not say "here at [trustworthy casino], when you win we don't hold on to your winnings for days like so many others..."

One of the problems nowadays is that potential players are completely oblivious to the amount of utter shit out there waiting for them to step in, so why don't the good guys keep players informed? Is it a secret? Are you not allowed to be honest?
If you ever watch TV you'll notice that practically all casino advertisements sound and look exactly the same, as if they are the same company. So newcomers could be forgiven for thinking they are all equal when those of us in the know, and who have been fortunate enough to find Casinomeister, know that nothing could be further from the truth.

"Sign up today for 50 free spins on Starburst!" would not be an unheard of offer from what is an enormous company, when what they should really be saying is "Absolutely no payout limits and no waiting when you play and win with us, so sign up today!"
In fact that seems to be the common theme with any casino advertisement; no deposit required, free spins for signing up, play us with pennies. Why not act like a serious establishment where players can actually play for and win some serious money?

God it makes me so angry thinking about it. What a golden opportunity to sell something spectacular but you'd rather we all faff around with a handful of free spins on a bloody awful slot

I remember talking to Head of iGame a while back and complained to him about all idiotic frazes and words they were putting in their emails. I thought it was really low marketing. In my eyes it is.

But for them it was different. They have tools and ways to count specific words that are drawing in most customers. Like affiliates use keywords then so are the marketing people in casinos and those who are creating those ads.

They don't care for the smart customers who can see through things. They want the stupid ones who are coming there in the thought they have a great offer.
It's a sad world full of stupid people and those who take advantage of them to make money ;)

Great post there and I totally agree.
It's one of the only industries where shafting the customer is almost common practice.
There are some great casinos out there, but as you said a lot of players won't know about casinomeister and how to find a decent place to play.
The regulations and rules need totally changing and made more honest and clear to players.
But I can't see that happening as the terms are really if where honest only there to help shaft a player and protect many a poor casino, the players rights are virtually nil.

Couldn't agree more, Valhalla.

If I was new to online casinos and as a mature adult with disposable income, I don't want to be messed around with 50 x 10p spins on a low paying slot with any winnings having to be wagered at least 35 times over. I would feel so much better at being assured of a guaranteed and timely payout with an appropriately licensed operator. Perhaps an 18 year old lad with no intention of making a deposit could be suckered in to a 'pocket money promotion'.

Sell the dream that if you win, you WILL get paid in full and on time. Shame the rogues by saying that your dream win could turn into a nightmare at Brand X Casino due to slow payouts (if you are lucky that they do actually pay!) over many months/years. Stir the minds of your players with correct information, they will make an educated decision in picking the right place to play at!

Yeah, looking at today's adverts one would think they all belong to the same company, with the mandatory "£10 free when you join" tactic.

I agree that the wording is misleading and suggestive, especially when saying things like 'absolutely free' or 'deposit £10, get £60' which would make it appear as though you can just use these sites for free money laundering with no strings attached

Of course no company is going to use airtime to entice new players by stating jackpots are unwinnable with bonus funds, or 'Join today and get a £10 bonus to use on selected games with wagering requirement of 45x the bonus and maximum cashout of £20' as a tagline, but I agree that to the uninitiated these offers seem like they're giving away money.

Worst are the rubbish bingo ads featuring shrieking women huddled together on a sofa having the time of their lives playing penny games and winning hundreds.

But on the whole, TV ads need a revamp as they come across as way too simplistic, which given the current state of ever-confusing terms & conditions, max bet and game restrictions not to mention payout issues, should be scrutinized. Where's Anne Robinson
