About Us

It is now the subject of a number of documentaries here in the UK, and they are NOT going to be subject to any "felony" restrictions the US government tries on. Reporters are happy to film in IRAN, where they risk torture & even death, so I doubt the US laws are going to scare them off.
Both BP and the US government are implicated for trying to "play down" the event, which is probably the biggest oil leak the WORLD has ever seen, not just the worst in the US (which is what they keep quoting). There is also no end in sight, current technology has been found to be unable to deal with this, and something else has to be developed to deal with such deep water well ruptures.
Taking into account the full cost of stopping this, and cleaning up the mess, the so called "expensive option" of things like solar & wind power will probably turn out to be the CHEAP option.
I have followed developments in solar panels, and it seems there have been advances in technology, BUT it has been up to private companies to develop them, and these have been SMALL companies, lacking the funds to throw into such projects unless there is a PROVABLE short term benifit in the way of sales.
Solar film, and solar roof tiles both look promising, but are still under development, leaving us with heavy & expensive solar panels - making the start up costs for a small home solar powerstation prohibitive, despite the latest government subsidy. My roof doesn't face south, so I don't think current technology will be efficient enough, but a cheaper and more efficient system might work, one that does not need to point directly at the sun to produce meaningful amounts of power.
I have wondered for years why "wind power" has not come into play. Almost everywhere in this world there are areas that have enough constant wind to run one hell of a wind farm.
Clean and efficient, the only reason it hasn't been done is a power play from the oil and gas industries. Absolutely unbelievable.
Maybe after this major fiasco, the powers that be will decide to start working on wind power.
Oh yeah, maybe the people that scream about it "not being in my backyard", will change their tune. One would hope.
This has been one of the biggest problems in the UK. We have plenty of places where a wind farm would work, but by their very nature they can be seen from miles away, and have to be sited on or near "wild" places. There are many objections from ENVIRONMENTALISTS as well, because they think that wildlife will be endangered by the presence of wind turbines.
while the pictures are very upsetting and a sad reflection on what humanity is doing to our planet, I for one have been very annoyed about the US attitude to oil leak.Obama turned it into an anti - british campaign instead of throwing all the resouces the USA have into helping find a solution.
If America did not consume 25% of the worlds oil there probably would never
have been a well there in the first place.
The hypocrisy of the USA is unbelievable when you compare this disaster with
the Bhopal gas leak which killed thousands in India at the time and is still doing so.The compensation paid was peanuts and I believe the head of Union Carbide skipped the country to avoid prosecution.
At least BP have accepted responsibility and agreed to pay full compensation and are working flat out to find a solution.
I truly believe that viable alternative enery sources are feasable, have probably been developed but are not being utilized for commercial reasons.
When you consider the energy produced by the sun,a system running at 1% efficiency would produce enough power for the planet many times over.
Glad you appriciate that my comments were not directed at the US citizens
in general, just at the corporations and politicians. I am in no way a socialist or communist but realize more and more that the common man (or woman )
has no control over the workings of their countries but are the first to suffer
when things go wrong.
Sounds like they have managed to cap the well now so that is some good news
