...by accident. I was poking around the Neteller site. I clicked a link that said, "click here to apply for the Neteller ATM card." I thought it would just link me to the application for the card. It turns out if you click the link, you've applied for the card. Oh well. I was considering it anyway.

So be warned. If you don't want the card, Don't click this link.

Lol.

Have you seen all the charges they apply though weedlayer? Seems like everytime you open your wallet and touch it they charge you...ok, an exageration but worth looking at the fee schedule.

Cheers

Simmo!

As long as you don't use the card, there is no fee associated. So I just cut off mine and sent it to the garbage several months ago.

Are you sure? I understand that there are charges for dormancy. Good grief, the charges were so outrageous I cancelled mine within a month.

That's how I got mine - by accident! :p

Have used it, but I find it very frustrating that you can't access your account details online and the charges suck!. Neteller have a LONG way to go - but why are they so slow??

Yes, I called them to confirm this. As long as you DON'T transfer money into your ATM, there is no charge. I didn't cancel mine and I didn't get any charge since I never transfer any money into my ATM account. That's all I know.

Happy Holiday~

Kasino King, I don't understand what you mean by "can't access your account details online". Please explain a bit further. Thx.

For me, I don't mind the charges for use of the Card. A couple bucks to withdraw to the Card, then $1.50 or so to pull it out of an ATM machine. What am I missing? $3.50 to pull out $500 immediately, without running it through your bank account. What's wrong with that?

happy user

I have had my card for a year and it is the fastest way of getting my winnings into my hands. It has the added advantage that once I have have put money on the card I cannot "recycle" it into any casino account. It will be extra handy tomorrow as I'm off to France to do some xmas shopping and have 400 Euros that I can draw out and invest in fine wine :). You can check the balance from your Neteller account page.

If you're an international member of neteller then the funds in the neteller debit card are held in Canadian Dollars. So when you want to transfer funds to the neteller debit card from your neteller account, they are converted fromm say US dollars to canadian dollars. When you withdraw through an ATM, they are converted from canadian dollars back to the currency of your country.

Therefore you are being charged twice for the currency conversion which did not happen before April 2004 (approx). Recently i withdrew $1000 from my neteller account but after all the fees and currency conversion charges, i got only $925 of that. Lets just say i wasn't impressed...

Hi Paul,
Sorry for delay - Im on holiday in Czech Republic at the mo.
What I meant is you can not see online how much you have in your Neteller Debit Card account. At least, you could not last time I checked in May.
Do you know a way to check your account online? I would love to know how - if it is possible!
Happy holidays!

cant? sure you can.

Clicking on the view debitcard balance on the right part of the screen works.

Yeah, you can check your balance all right but they charge you CAD2 for each balance enquiry so you have less to withdraw right after this transaction and then since your balance is inadequate to cover your withdrawal they charge you for trying to withdraw more than your balance. The circus goes on and on and I actually lost 12% on trying to get money from the neteller card. I have since destroyed it.

Neteller Card

Chuchu59,

When you review your account online and look at the card balance there is no charge. If you would attempt to get a balance inquiry from an ATM machine you would get charged.
I have used the debit card for some time and have no problems and the fees are reasonable. I suppose if you do $5 or $20 withdrawals the account each transactions fees would be unbearable.

I have yet to have them charge me the monthly fee when I have no transactions, in those few months that I didn't do a withdrawal or transfer

Buck

Neteller Memberwire is another option for transferring direct from your Neteller account to a bank account.

Cheques to UK members are now drawn in pounds sterling, saving you the 7 / 10 former commission charge on the dollar cheques, and the exchange rate Neteller uses, though in keeping with all their other charges the worst going, is only a few pence off the basic rate. Why a non-US customer would use anything other than either that or the wire method now on offer to international customers is a mystery to me. To pay a $75 charge on a $1000 withdrawal is completely bananas.

Thanks, buck. The withdrawals i made were usually around the USD100 to 150 mark. However, as I had to receive them in Hong Kong dollars,I could only know how much I could withdraw thru the ATM and that caused the problems. Other than the double-layer conversion fee,the other fees were illustrated at the site. It's just that their charges do seem very high, even compared to credit card advances which amounts to a flat 3% in Hong Kong. Of course,if you dont repay within a specified time, they slap you with 24%-30% interest p.a.

If you receive a lot of cheques in US$ or euros, you should open a Citibank account. You can have , US$ and euro current accounts, you can pay in cheques free, you only pay 0.9% for currency conversion if you transfer money between accounts in different currencies. (Other banks also charge for currency conversion, but it is usually hidden in the exchange rate.) There are no other charges for standard banking services as long as you maintain an average balance of 2000 in your accounts altogether each month. There are only a few branches in the UK, but you can just mail cheques and make transactions by phone or by internet. You can also get a debit card which you can link to any of your accounts, so if you are travelling to the US, you can link it to your US$ account and withdraw cash from ATMs or pay in shops without foreign exchange charges.

As a Canadian, I opened A Neteler long before Paypal was no longer usable for casino transfers. I Opened a USD Based account, the only choice at the time.

It remains the same to me. If I need, lets say $500 I withdraw $502 - $2 being the cheque fee. Neteller being in Calgary I get the cheque in 5 business days. I pay the exchange once, when I deposit it or cash it.

As the debit card goes, I did order one, but never used it. I paid for the first month, then theres no fee for dormancy. Lucky that I inquired before I ever used it though, because, as in some thing use it, or you lose it... They cancelled my card for not using it for 6 months consecutive.

Regards,

Thatch

Hi Kasino King,

Another poster answered this, I see. Actually, it was a long time before I ever figured it out myself. There's that small link on your account page.

Other posters are mentioning fees for checking your account at an ATM. I dunno, maybe my ATMs here are different because I've never noticed a fee. In fact, whenever I start to withdraw money, I always "check balance of checking account" before I do anything else, just to make sure it's there.

Have a good holiday, Kasino King.

I was travelling to the US and used my neteller debit card to get some cash. Since they double charge for the currency conversion, its not a pleasant experience.

Neteller ATM FX

Exchange rates are usually high with any ATM or debit card. Not really a Neteller issue. If you expect to get a FX rate close to the interbank rate this is not the method.
Neteller does allow a few options on currency and I have mutiple currencies accounts with casinos that I use the same neteller account with.

Sorry but i disagree. My bank's debit card charges me 2.75% for currency exchange, nowhere near neteller's 7%+. The problem is that they choose to hold the funds on the neteller debit card in Canadian dollars for international customers even though my neteller account is in US dollars. Therefore i'm being charged twice in currency exchange fees, from US dollars to canadian dollars and then from canadian dollars into whatever currency i wish to withdraw to via ATM.

I finally got the Neteller debit card in my mail today. I was somewhat alarmed when I saw on the outside of the envelope, in very large letters, "Your Neteller Debit Card is Here!" Even more alarming is the fact that the PIN number is shipped inside the same envelope. This all seems like just asking for someone to steal your card.

I eventually realized that before anyone could access your account, you have to transfer money onto the card by logging in to Neteller's website, but this still seems like sloppy security to me.
