"Sirens is the last call to change things before the end. It's about accepting that even after trying your best, things can still go to hell. If that happens, at least you can fall with pride. The song demonstrates the complex and delicate balance between light and darkness."
Heavy Consequence wrote recently that metal remains a timeless and international language, informed by the past but not beholden to it — a delicate balance of nostalgia and progress.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Obituary doesn't listen to these platitudes though. Good old school death/trash metal from Florida. Fun and happy as one would expect. Feels like summer man
Babymetal is a unique band to me. I know that the award-winning and well respected forum member Goatwack has a theory about why I like them, but he's mostly incorrect in his reasoning. Music has meaning, and often it's related to something important or emotional in real life, at least to me.
I discovered them at a time when there was a lot going on in my life. Their music was just the right thing at the right time. It's also refreshing to find a new band that's still on the rise. I believe peak Babymetal is yet to come.
Needless to say, I'm stoked to have a chance to see them live in May this year. Like Ghost, Babymetal is a form of musical theatre, an experience best enjoyed live.
This is Light and Darkness from the upcoming album The Other One. Filmed at their two concerts in January 2023 at Makuhari Messe. Even though this is pretty much a pop song, I still like it (probably for the above mentioned reasons).
The second single from their forthcoming album 'Crime Scene' which is released on 17th March is out today, A Cold Spring Day in 22 by German Prog band RPWL:
I will be seeing them a month today in Chepstow. Kicking off a week where I will be seeing them three times in under a week
