How honest are you?

When it comes to anything at a casino, it is absolutely the dealers job to do his or her job correctly. If they want to mess up in my favour, go right ahead, but I'm not going to correct them.

Not too long ago I went to a corner store to cash in $19 worth of lottery tickets. I just wanted more tickets. She somehow messed up while scanning them, called someone, took a $20 bill out of the drawer, gave me the $19 worth of scratch cards AND the $20 and said "That's yours". I looked at her like she was crazy and said "no, it's not". Before I could get another word out she said "Take it, go! RUN!"... So, I left... $19 in scratch tickets and $20richer. I tried to be honest but for some reason it didn't work. She was either too frustrated with her mistake to listen or she wanted to get fired. She's still working there though so that didn't happen. And I still go there to redeem my tickets in the hopes that she'll scan them wrong again

I was just thinking of the time when I filled up with $20 of gas for free. After I topped off my tank I went in to pay for it, the cashier said, "you alread did". A "no I didnt", "Yes you did" dialog went on for a bit, then she said ""look, my machine said you did, thats all that matters! She scowled at me, I scowled at her and everyone behind me groaned that kind of "get on with it" groan.
I had felt sorry of the poor sop that might have been paying for my gas without knowing about it but I qwelled that thought with the idea it may have just been a gift from above! The cashier had no interest in finding the error. I still tease her about it, occasionally asking if my gas is free today....:D

If it were at a store, I would correct the mistake because the cashier is going to be short at the end of the day.

But I would react differently in a casino. Probably because it does not affect anyone and I am going to give it back eventually anyways.

I would consider the free chips a sort of special comp rather than anything immoral. And like I said, they are going to get it (and more) back from me anyways, so what's the harm?

Unlike some people here, I don't have anything against casinos. They are perfectly fair and treat me well. But I would take the free chips and probably tip the dealer a little something extra.

What a great discussion!!. I have very similar views to vinylweatherman's. I have and would always hand in wallets I find but a mistake from a big company and its mine. Had a very juicy overpayment from 1 online pokeroom this year and they havnt even noticed it, well ive had no emails at all.. (I will ignore them anyway LOL)

So basically im honest with individuals but otherwise dodgy as you like.

The situation in british casinos is just ridiculous. 1)Most of the people look like criminals, depressed, rude etc. 2)Casinos don't appreciate your business. 3) Staff are rarely up to the snuff. Often times they are just bored dealing cards. It is a lot difference when you feel that they want you to win. 4) Bad BJ rules 5) too many supertitious people

These are the reasons I not longer visit casinos but rarely.

A new casino is opening in Leicester square. It's where the Equinox filthy club was almost next to Napoleon's casino. It's going to be a huge casino and it's worth checking it out. I will certainly check it out and let you know.

Where do you hang out kostas?

I love England. England is the greatest place on earth!!! Naughty boy...

Tut tut.

Where do you hang out kostas?

I hang out at Gala casino on baker street, Tottenham court road(got better) and Gala in picadilly. Also Grosvenor, Sportsman, Hard rock casino in leicester square and the Golden Nugget on shaftesbury avenue road. They are all just ridiculous for different reasons.

I once went to Gala on baker street and I was offered a proper meal (salmom etc.) complimentary. That because they saw the cash I laid on the table:D. Not many people were around so it was easier for the cameras to spot someone who lays some cash and offer him a free meal at their, have to admit, really good restaurant. On the other hand the kind of people that frequent the baker street club are just ridiculously superstitious. Some hot dealer though which helps balancing the situation....;). I know most london casinos inside out and can even recall and describe in detail where the toilets or cashiers are:D

Stop hanging around the toilets!! :eek2:

Hey kostas, I was in TCR Gala last week...all changed in there, loads of slots and less tables now!!! Hmmmm....

Let's meet up if you want.

I enjoyed the Gala casino in Soho (don't remember the street name) during my very first London trip ... of course, that might have been because I won 50 my first time there and broke even the second time! :D

I just remembered that I had a casino double up a payout to my NETeller account a few years back. I didn't say anything about, figuring that if they caught it, they would be contacting me.

Sure enough, they caught it ... and since they had a monthly bonus I wanted to take advantage of, I had to deposit the extra amount to bring my account with them out of the negative.

Yup the casino there got a lot better. More slots, better bar etc. I really liked it last time I went there though it appears there is no restaurant anymore which I dont like as I usually like to have a meal before I play. Never after as I usually have no money to pay for the food and I end up eating at near by Burger King:eek2:

Am free in the evenings most of the days. We can meet up certainly as I was thinking for some time to ask the londoners of this forum to have a meeting and all gamble and have fun like a family we are. Then we can come in here and share our experiences. It would be fun

Victoria is good and big but too many rude arabs who find polite to touch you when they talk to you plus many smokers. Grosvenor for some reason attracts big whales who have the cash and the credit to turn off your lights. Last time I saw a guy betting £25,000 a hand at Bacarrat:eek2: .
The service is good there with free soft drinks and sanwiches:thumbsup:. I always like to eat at the table because after 2-3 hours I get exhausted and I need gas.

Golden Nugget used to be my favority place to relax and eat ridiculously cheap. For a considerable amount of chicken wings and as much coke as i could handle I used to only play £1.50. Comes handy after a bad beating. Nowadays its more expensive and they changed the menu.

If they're going to design casinos so it takes me 20 minutes just to find the exit, with swirling music and 10,000 kilowatt beams of light shooting into my eyeballs at 4 a.m., then I figure I can look the other way on the RARE occasion when an error occurs in my favor.

 too funny. We got the same bling bling light show here at Crown & the doof doof too. I can handle it at night time, but not at 4am either, though it's much worse at 7am when your starting to sober up really makes you want to :puke:

Seriously? For three years we made that an affiliate hangout during ICE after I got my membership... but it used to be such a boring place.

Must check it out this year then. Actually, around ICE time... see if we can convince Meister and Jetset and Simmo! and Webzcas to come along for a bit of fun... if only we could get Gala to close for a private function...

I never feel sorry for Bookies, Casinos or Insurance Companies!
They always win; most gamblers only sometimes win.

My best experience of this at a B&M was when playing Roulette; I was using dark brown 50p chips and the dealer somehow managed to accidentally get a black 25 chip in the stack of 17 chips he was giving me.
Of course, I owned up. Not!
I took it as a fully cashable loyalty bonus - after all, we get nothing in comps from these places in England (at least, low rollers like me don't :p ), we even have to pay extortionate prices for the drinks!
They got it all back pretty quick anyway, so what's it matter.

For another punter to call out an error in your favour is pretty despicable behavior.

Geeze, not only are you Brits backwards on what side of the street you drive on, but your casino chips are backwards as well!

USA:
$25 chip = Green
$100 chip = Black :p

Yeap the establishment is a hell of a lot better today. Lovely bar, 20+ slots, less tables, more space etc. It would be great if we could close down the entire casino only for CM accredited members:D

If you want high level stuff for meetings head to the colony club, Ritz club, Les Ambasseuders, Crockfords, Aspinalls, Clermont. Some of them have a door restricted policy so you won't go in unless you know someone.

I was thinking more like a bit of fun :)

The Colony Club is a bit too stuffy for me, and the Ritz even more so. But I have been invited to both in the past.

One of the good things about the Gala on Tottenham Ct Rd *is* the fact that Burger King is nearby! Or a nice kebab across the street, or Mickey D's around the corner...

pay?

I have a read a few Brits stating that they have to pay for drinksin Casinos?
They must reserve this treatment for Southerners or something cos here in Manchester it is free drinks and snacks(mmmm cappuccino and cheese toasties) and no lazers!

Stuffy in what sense? If you want fun head to hard rock casino or to the upcoming one in leicester square.

Jacket and tie. Hard for me to relax and enjoy myself when the damn tie is choking me to death :D

That's not a problem. Why I don't like about this casinos is that everyone is "too serious" in there. Also everything is so quiet. Am a member at Palm beach in mayfair but I never go. Too snob places for me.

Prawn sandwiches by any chance? :D

gfk: do the casinos still have the 24hr membership approval? I'm in London for 3 days in Jan (ICE) and quite fancy the idea of giving one a whirl.

So which one is closest to the Venetian in aura? ;)

Where? I have never got free drinks or snacks in Manchester.
