How easy is it to close an online account without doing SE?

Has anybody else had this experience? Ever wanted to simply close an online account WITHOUT having tot SE? Obviously doing an SE is much easier but in the complicated world of casino groups and who is related to who you don't want the red flag of an SE being a potential issue if playing elsewhere? I know it can be done but some casino's make it so much harder to just close an account than SE, which I find really strange. I am just curious, has anybody else had any similar experience of trying to just close an account at a casino?

I've closed loads and it's so easy
Just email support saying I am.off.yoyr casino sucks and within minutes you get an email.saying they have closed.your account lol I've never had any issues doing this when I am in the same group of casinos as your simply closing just that one I've closed loads of sister groups as they do simply suck and never had a problem

Try doing it at playojo or any of those brands, or tonybet who insist my account is closed, yet I can still login. Verajohn took 3 weeks of arguing.

PlayOjo is the one I have had the most trouble with actually! I am sure some sites make it easy to close accounts but I just seem to have been playing at problematic ones! LOL!

It should become a standard, we are working on it. So far we had 2 close statuses: banned and SE.

But SE contains a lot of negative implications, and should in fact only be used by- or to protect problem gamblers. Hence we are working on a lock account functionality.

There should be a close account facility. Under the GDPR you have the right to be forgotten. If an account is never closed then how can a customer get the records deleted?

If a record is totally defeated, wouldn’t it leave casinos open to bonus abuse?
Abuse by players repeatly opening accounts, taking welcome bonuses, closing accounts, being ‘forgotten’ :rinse and repeat.

After 5 years, upon request - as per law and/or terms of the casino.

Right or wrong, thats what the law says. In the case of a casino, regulations state they have to keep records for a certain length of time after account closure, which I believe is 6 years, so don't think it would end up being a bad problem. Problem is, if an account is closed for RG issues or blocked etc, then the account isn't actually closed, therefore the right to be forgotten never comes into play, which is against the GDPR.

People have a right to be forgotten. But it also says that it is not absolute. Many laws and reasons why it will not be applied. Would imagine there are many ways a casino will get around it.

Look at loan companies . I could get a loan off a few grand. Then put it in writing that i want to be forgot. Legally they would tell me to F off lol.

I can't think of any. In your case of a loan company, they account wouldn't be closed while there was an outstanding amount owing, therefore you wouldn't be able to do that in that situation.

The loan companies don’t work that way, believe me, I’ve been through the system in my very distant past...
In my experience, they keep the account open as long as possible, issuing default notices.... then the legal 6 years starts (at the point of account closure /sale of the debt).

I know that. That's why i said if people had the right to be forgotten and all data erased it would never apply to many things.

So the lesson here is don't take out loans people
i had a minicredit loan some 7, maybe 8 years ago, when i wasn't working, something like 150 quid. I stupidly trusted a close friend to pay me back half of it, since he asked if i could add a bit extra for him to borrow as well. He let me down and on the day, beig careless with money and relying on his 100 odd quid to make the payment in full couldn't cover the entire lot (i dunno, about 200 ish).
I still get the occasioanl threatening emails, apparently i owe approx £1,170 now ... lol

edit.
i should add, i attempted to setup a payment plan with a debt releif type company, to pay installments, but they refused to deal with 3rd parties.. so i just said well, you wont get shit then.

Contact a casino customer support and tell them that you wanna close your account right now as you don't wish to play there anymore for the reason that you found lots of negative feedback on the internet and lost a lot of money on their site.

Most of reputable casinos will will know that you telling a pure bullshit but will shut your account down straight away.
