hey people...as some of you know, I was supposed to be scheduled for a pretty heavy duty surgery - when I got the call to set the date it turned out I only had 6 days to prepare for it so I didn't have time to worry much. Well you know, I worried a BIT, that's the kinda girl I am.

Anyhow long story short, I went in Wednesday morning, they chopped me up and took out the icky bits and stapled me back together and fed me morphine for 3 days. Then the morphine went away and I realized how uncomfortable those hospital beds really are when you can only lie in one position and can't move without help - think of a lumpy concrete slab with broken nails embedded in it and that's pretty close. They fed me lots of yummy mushy food (cream of corn soup - cream of pea soup - cream of tomato soup - cream of nothing soup) and stabbed me over and over and over (and over) with needles (seriously you should see the bruises on my arms!) and yesterday they took my staples out (18!) and duct taped me together and sent me home (on schedule) with a lovely bag of parting gifts to recuperate for 6 weeks.

I'm still pretty uncomfortable and I have to be really careful for a bit - even sitting in front of the computer is a bit rough right now, but I just wanted to pop in and tell everyone I'm ok - some of you know what's been going on and those of you who are on Facebook know this stuff already. And I wanted to say thanks to everyone for their advice and support and prayers etc.

Take it easy, do what they say (not as I would do!!), and hopefully you will be up and around in no time:thumbsup:

Get well soon Chayton - I will be praying for a quick recovery. :)

I'm very glad to hear you came through this okay. As everyone else has said, take it easy, relax and take care you are doing what the doc says. Hope you have a speedy recovery and you have an enjoyable holiday! You are in my prayers.

Chayton Just take it easy and relax.
Slow and steady wins the race to good health.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
Get Well Soon.

Hi Cindy,

Sorry to hear you were sick - had no idea.

Hope that the pain goes away and you heal quickly :D

Glad to hear you are home
Take it easy and hope you have a speedy recovery! :)

Thanks everyone! :) Right now it's easy to take it easy - it hurts otherwise. I'll just have to wear a straight jacket to keep from doing anything I'm not allowed to when I start feeling a bit better. I'm not allowed to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup for at least 4 weeks. Not allowed to carry anything up or down the stairs. Not allowed to bend over and pick up anything on the floor. No vacuuming, no laundry, no mops or brooms allowed. No cooking. No dishes. Not allowed to sneeze or cough without 5 minutes of preparation beforehand. Seriously I can't even make a pot of coffee because I'm not allowed to lift the coffee pot full of water. Good grief. And with me being as anal as I am, just imagine when my mom goes home and if I spill something on the floor - I'll have to leave it sitting there ALL DAY til Ray comes home from work...? :eek2: I'll be a wreck! lol, but it beats going back to the hospital I guess.

Actually I'm going to get a calendar and mark off the days. At least I'm allowed to do THAT. And gamble - so come on casinos....Cindy needs some Christmas prezzies. ;)

That's the ticket!! Positive thinking! Screw the spills and/or other messes. I really sympathize with you, it is so hard for a "do-er" and not to be able to "do". :p Flip side? Take advantage over anyone in your family that wants to coddle you. It's probably a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy it to the fullest degree!!! ;)

Seriously, hope you recover quickly.
