Hey all, Peak Entertainment just emailed a promo including a link to a Blackjack variant I've never heard of ... hold 'em BJ. Hosted by Sunpoker it's like a poker and BJ hybrid .. interesting. Even let's you choose tournament play.
Anyone ever tried it?

Not seen it but Wagerworks do a Texas Hold'em shootout in the casino which may be of interest. You against the casino effectively.

Yeah - but watch that game - it's the most 'riggy' I've ever seen!
(I still think it's a slot in disguise!)

I've played RTG's hold'em (doesn't really have anything to do with blackjack) a few times, as it is sometimes a game not excluded by all of the crazy bonus rules that they have.

The main thing about the game is that it is fast, you can win or lose very, very quickly. But I've had, during short plays, pretty significant winning and losing streaks.

My biggest beef is that the minimum bet seems to be $5x2, which is pretty damn high.

Besides being expensive, I think it's pretty fun.

i have not tried sun poker's holdem black jack but what I would recommend you try are proper black jack tournaments.

In many ways these can be seen as a cross between BJ and a tournament of holdem. The tournament considerations greatly distort the strategy of the BJ game and create a very exciting game in which there is a lot of skill and strategy involved.

Sites you can try this on include

Global Player Casino and
Ultimate Bet

In ultimate bet there is a greater variety of options and if you are playing US time there is a decent chance you will get numbers for a game. They also have some good freerolls in it if you want to get to grips with what it is all about. UB's version is a little different from normal tournament blackjack and they call it "elimination Blackjack" what this means is that after set numbers of hands 1 player will be eliminated. This is different from normal tourney play where people normally are not eliminated before the end of a round.

Its all about numbers. Who ever has the most chips at the end of the game wins. This is true whether they have 100 chips or 100,000. Like tournament poker you do not play with real money you get x amount of chips for your buy in and play with that.

Whether or not the sun poker bj game is any good I would definately give tourney BJ a try. It is good fun, very exciting and has interesting strategies to consider.

Tournament Freeroll

Casinorip have a 1,000 BJ tournament freeroll on wednesday evening at 19:00 GMT

Golden Palace has one of these as well, and there is a new place called Bet21, I think.
