Here's the story...I use an HP Mini with Verizon Broadband built in. We travel all over the country and I've used it from Sequim, Washington to the Florida Keys, Mexican Border to Calais,Maine. I now have a casino telling me that there is a person who has used my computer to play at their casino.

I know for a fact this is impossible because I have this thing with me 24/7 and I have no idea who this person is. Of course, they locked my account.

Now, wasn't there a thread on here somewhere about a similar situation?

I know very little about computers other than to turn it on and off and navigate around the web a bit:D...so can someone refresh my mind here about how this could have happened?

Thanks!

I had the same thing happen to me not too long ago with my Verizon MiFi setup. I think I posted about it here. It was Club World I think, it was one that I had had an account with forever.

I was told that I had used a coupon but I didn't. CS told me that someone with my IP address had used it. Anyway, they didn't seem too concerned when I paniced. Told me it happened quite a bit because the IP address are not 'static'.

My thread about it is somewhere here. :D

Thanks guys...I thought there was another thread I just couldn't remember whose:thumbsup: I told the rep and they are checking in to it!

So are they claiming a second account was created? Or was there play on your existing account? Or did you play and they are saying it was not you?

If the casino suspected someone hacked your account, I could see locking it both for your protection and theirs. Just the way a credit card company might suspend your card if suddenly you are making huge online purchases (and I'm not talking gambling) of electronics when you've never did so before, or jewelry. If this is the case, it should be simple to sort after the customer contacts them.

But when are casinos clue in we live in a mobile society? That people enjoy their online hobbies and habits, and we take netbooks and laptops with us?

Let us know how it resolves.

I'll be interested to see what they say. The rep did say it was a different username and after I told him about Verizon and the fact we do travel he did say that this other user is in a different state.

I'll post the outcome!

How do they know it wasn't you in a different state? since you move around so much? I hope it isn't like cell phone numbers where so many can have the same number but different provider and what a mess that could be right? good luck with it. :)

i've got a verizon mobile for my laptop... don't have any casinos installed on it yet... but I'd be interested to hear how this ends up... Keep us posted.

I haven't heard anything yet but I thought I would give them a few days to sort it out. :) (I'm trying to be nice and patient..which is really abnormal for me:lolup:)
