somewhere... over the rainbow!
Hi All,
This is an issue that has been going on for over 3 weeks and I am going to go Insane! At first it is going to sound stupid and I myself was saying "there is no way.. this is not possible" but.. IT IS!

I have been online playing at one or another casino. (our faves of course! ) and whether in real money mode, fun, or tourney's I had noticed that I would be playing along fine.. (usually slowly building) and then a long period of not getting anything.. not one pair, or wild... and the balance was down.. down..down..
This is usually when everyone says.. yup.. just a dry spell, spot of bad luck.. or "real bad run of bad luck"... But no.. It is my connection!

I have been hooked up at my mothers for the past 3 weeks! (and since May we have stayed here on and off but are settling here more permanently since the boys got out of school 3 weeks ago!)
So Whether this is her modem or her router I am not sure.
But I had to prove to myself that yes.. I was playing as if connected but I was NOT CONNECTED!!
To prove this to myself I had to open up my home page, then open the casino I wanted to play at. When the balance would start to go down like that again, I would minimize the casino and maximize the home page then I would attempt to go to any other page.. and EVERY SINGLE TIME I get a page that says "SERVER NOT FOUND" .. I have to unplug the router and plug it back in.. wait until it reconnects and then once my homepage is back up.. I am back in the game  . My biggest issue is that only one of the casino's I am playing at is NOT catching these "disconnects" AT ALL.
I am not getting the never ending spinning reels or a "connection lost" message like I do elsewhere. It just keeps on playing like I am there. and according to them it doesn't show any disconnects on their end:confused:

I am to a point where why would I deposit real money again until I find out how to fix this? I had my balance there up to $180.00 a week and a half ago, It was toward the end of that balance that I put two and two together and realized I was not getting error messages from that one casino! (others I do).

(I moved out of my apartment May 5th, I have not had ONE withdrawal from there since! only deposits! the other casino's where I DO get a message I have managed to stay on top of the issue and I can reconnect before losing it all!!)
This is one of my favorite places to play. (but not when I can't be sure if I am there.. or not there ..uggghh!)
I even tried my wireless router, and had the same issue.
I am calling her cable company tomorrow. But does anyone have any idea exactly what is wrong here?
(I have hesitated for a week about this thread.. but I am ready to rip my hair out at this point!)
I appreciate it guys!

This sounds rather odd, however I have had something similar, where websites refuse to display with "server not found" or "cannot display page" errors, indicating a lost connection, yet casinos remain connected.

Casino software connects in a different way to web pages, there is no need to use DNS lookup servers to find the connection IP address, the casino software knows it, and can make a direct connection.

"fun" mode with some software can play on the local PC, and will not notice a lost connection. Real mode, however, should NEVER do this, and wharever it may look like, the casino must somehow be connecting to it's server in order for it to know about your losing streak.

To find out if you have REALLY lost the connection, try unplugging the cable from the back of the PC to the router, and seeing if the casino that seems not to notice the disconnects notices this physical disconnect. If you have a wireless connection, this test will not be possible, but you could unplug the router from the cable, thus cutting the main internet connection.

One other strange possibility is that your PC has tapped into a neighbours wireless network, and thus will run even if your own internet connection has been cut (this is a known risk with Wi-Fi, and I have had this happen to me the other way around - someone got into MY network!).

Thanks Vm! This is the big thing.. everytime I am going down, down... I do exactly that! BUT... first I check via Firefox or IE and click on a webpage.. that is when I get the "server error" "can not connect"..
BUT no.. the casino is NOT showing this disconnect and gives me no error messages (I do get error and disconnect messages at the other casino's).. instead I have to unplug the back of the router plug it back in and wait a minute.. I am then reconnected all the way around. problem is... it is not until the balance is continuing downward that I check and I am doing this all day long! :mad

again thanks:notworthy

First check all your connections (I know that sounds simple, but you would be surprized how many times a problem like this is just a lose connection).

Sometimes the cables will degrade or get pin holes in them or animals will chew them (my dog USED to like chewing on cables - until he chewed a hot one... lol you should have seen it...), so you might want to check and/or replace your cables.

If those two steps don't do it.

Upgrade your router firmware (usually you can get this from your ISP or the company that makes the router) - After the upgrade, do a factory reset of the Router and reconfigure it.

If that don't work you may want to think about getting a new/different router.

get rid of firefox IMO. I had it for the longest time and had nothing but problems over and over! Ppl swear by it and I tried to use and really want to use it but its just not up to par in my book

Thanks babs, but unfortunately it happens with IE also.
It's just a matter of constantly checking to see if my connection is still there until the good ol' cable company can make it out here.(slow as slow can be.)

Are you speaking of like when you playing at 3 dice and you think your connected in real and all of a sudden your not but the casino is still up? That happens to me, infact it happened last night BUT...my money doesnt change it just doesnt do anything and all of a sudden it has the word "connecting" going across the screen when I thought I was connected lol

With me my money goes down, in both real and tourney! But I am getting absolutely no messages!
No "connection error" and no "connecting".. (and yes it is 3 dice) .
I do get connection error messages anywhere else I play which is what had me so baffled.
I am now very, very careful to check every few minutes and make sure I am still connected.
I used to get that "connecting" in the middle of gameplay all the time babs.
Sometimes it would take quite a bit before reconnecting. But at least I knew I was not connected and during that time I was not losing money!

(Our cable company can't get here until next week! Ya gotta love that fast service they provide!)

I had a similar issue with 3dice when they added the new games redog and industrial. I kept going in yet wasnt connected and sat there even chat seemed to have a prob. I deleted casino then went into cookies deleted that also from firefox and ie and then rebooted puter and downloaded again and it seemed to work for me. Im wondering at times if when casinos add games and that some of
our files that get shared get moved around that blocks a lot of online actions.

Thanks Lauram.
Today will be the perfect day for me to do that!

I will also defrag and clean it up, I wanted to run another virus scan anyway to be sure this computer is still clean after the "angel" issue.

I'll let you guys know if that resolves the problem (it would be nice to cancel the visit from cable!:D)

Good luck with it m my other prob didnt clear up there are still 2 casinos i cant download again. Their techs also tried to help me and said there is a handful of us out there with the same prob. This lies in the casino download and owners computers and i cant blame them as they state they cant fix the prob for a few players and take the risk of thousands of players not getting back into their casinos to play. One i could never get back into is riverbell and thats one of my bellrock casinos yet i have no probs with jackpotcity.

It happens with me on Inetbet too, just to make that clear. I thought once i got rid of firefox it wouldnt happen anymore. I need to clean up mine as well

The RTG reels just spin and spin and it says connecting all of a sudden. Infact today while playing goldbeard. Something is going on
