CM Announcement Goodbye Casinomeister from Dunover!

Well, after a wonderfully entertaining 14 years as a member of this forum and five years or so as staff and admin, today 11 February 2025 is my final day of service.

Along with @conker I am now no longer part of the structurally optimised and disciplined cost base. It's time to lay down the ban-hammer, turn off my shill detector and pass on other duties like the moderating and comps into the capable hands of @Webzcas and @Nate.

I have some great memories to take away, the meet-ups and meals in London, Amsterdam and Berlin where I was privileged to meet the other CM staff, Bryan and numerous forum members as well as many reps, some of which are still present here.

This period has exposed the dark side of the industry regarding addiction, scams and fraud, the hysterically funny side (remember 'potty in shoes' anyone?) and from a far more pleasant perspective the mutual help, fun and friendly discussion from which ultimately we all learn.

I will be retaining my forum membership, but as you can see I am represented in green status, a 'paleomeister'. The intention is to lurk from now-on dropping in with the occasional post, probably in the Bonanza thread.

Thank-you for your contributions to CM over my time as a forum regular and I wish you all good luck and health in the future.

Yes, no need for an additional post, but I too am stepping aside from moderation duties alongside @dunover . I am not going anywhere and will still be a member of the great forum, just not managing comps and carrying out any moderation tasks. I wish the team that remains all the best and I look forward to enjoying less responsibility in the CM community.

The forum was never the same once you became a mod. Everyone could count on you for some real sarcasm that sometimes bordered the lines. Then you became mod and had to actually act professional and responsible.

I welcome the change and hope you can somehow shake the chains of having to act responsible.

Well, what an absolute bummer. Moderating a forum this size is not an easy task - and to remove two of the most knowledgeable and qualified folks from the moderation staff is gobsmacking stupid.

Really disappointed in the direction this site has taken since my departure. And what a sad day for the forum to see Conker and Dunover getting the pink slip, but then - maybe the unfiltered Conker and Dunover is what the forum needs.

But really don't get how Max, Gourdfollower and Nate and DAVE will fare. Maybe there is room for a part-timer retiree to come in on Saturday afternoons. I ain't cheap though.

Really shocked to see this - I haven't always agreed with everything that Dunover/Conker have posted in the past, but I think thats whats part of a great forum like this - the ability to sensibly disagree (and on most occasions, agree) about topics from diferent perspectives. Always found both @dunover and @conker fair with their approaches and enjoyed reading their posts.

Shame its come to this - im one of those people who really doesn't like change. Everything should stay the same for consistancy (unless its something I don't care about, then people can do what they want)

I really hope this isn't the beginning of the end and the forum ends up being like askgamblers - effectivley a site that reviews are removed to favour certain casinos and a sub-par support service for members who require help.

I feel quite sad about this.

I’ve only been on the forum for a year just less, I’ve always considered you polite, fair but also strict when required. A perfect mix of all.

I enjoy this forum and that’s thanks to the great mods and admins that keep it running. I’m especially focused on your point about a safe space where members can ask for help and also the casino reps that float around is super helpful.

I still find it mind boggling how you’ve only had 11 media posts in 15 years mind you

Speaking for myself, I have very much enjoyed my time as a moderator here. Much of the work involved goes unseen and sadly that gets missed when reviewing contracts and what-not.

All that extra work now falls on the shoulders of the remaining team, who were already up against it before losing two of us.

The community here is very much a lifeline for many and certainly the last hope for desperate players that have got themselves in a mess with their gambling. But a great forum needs a team behind it, to keep everything balanced, fair, and in good shape.

I hope the members that are here week in week out, support the admins the best they can and keep Casinomeister ticking along as we would all be worse off if it was no longer available, or morphed into something different.

Quite a shocker, i definitely didn't see that coming, especially seeing you both increase activity with those fun comps of late - i was just under the impression that would be the 'new', more interactive way the forum would go? I must've read over what @maxd stated above, and didn't really think anything was amiss: having been mildly active over the past years, mostly due to health issues, still came by to have a read, catch up or do some inquiry, or make a funpost - i really didn't notice any deterioration of the forum itself.

Of course i'm old, lazy and way less sharp than i used to be, so there's that. For now i still feel all is well, i've had the pleasure of meeting both @conker and @dunover , and they're both gold!

Let's see where this leads forum-wise, but surely hoping to have you guys stick around as members for a long while - also hope this won;t indeed mean that poor @Webzcas and @maxd won't be overloaded, as i'm sure both fine gents leaving, did help out in various other parts!

Hope to meet up with a lot of you's again - if there's any chance of some sort of 'reunion' in London or Amsterdam - let me know!
