Just wondered what people are doing to comply with the GDPR, it seems a bit of a minefield at the moment.

It looks like pretty much everyone is going to have to comply, from large businesses down to forums like this one

I have a forum, and the only data I collect is IP address, email address and date of birth, but from reading, just an ip address is enough to be affected by it. Nightmare for me as the forum automatically logs the IP and no way of switching it off.

I'm going to have to change the privacy policy, and email the full database telling then if they want to remain a member they have to login, accept new T&C's, and if not they will have the account deleted. Then work out some way of doing that

What makes it worse is, I use VBulletin 4, and they have said they won't update anything so no easy option, I'm actually thinking of switching to a different forum its going to cause that much work. @Casinomeister do you know if theres anything in xenforo that makes it easy?

An IP is personal data, hence you must have a good reasons to collect this personal date or anonymize it. Also you need to be able to remove it on request. In my policies I've written that i respect privacy, so anybody that want to see, modify or delete details, should identify themselves. I do not know how many people do want to do that.

I would advice any affiliate to - even if it's late yet - have a good look at GDPR. It's more work than I was thinking (hoping) before and chances to get in trouble are little, but once in trouble, you'd be happy if you were able to turn back time and spend some afternoons on it.

Upon checking the old emails I had a 'popular online retailer' request I re-subscribe, which in turn led me to order some collectible FF 30th anniversary Chateau des Bois at £45 a pop.

The good thing about GDPR is that many of the spam lists your email address has been put on, have to delete your data.

I gotta see if it will stop spammers. Got some brands and programs mailing, while I never ever signed up and clearly they're having the address from some database they've bought or stolen.

Essentially this means that if you have NOT confirmed or opted in to casino mailing/texts etc. before this date in recent settings e-mails you shouldn't receive them at all - theoretically. You'll still be spammed to stupidity though but with punitive fines I think the casinos will be very quick to shut the spammers' accounts if you report this shit. So I suggest everybody keeps the e-mails and reports them here to reps.
