Hi, what a good forum and plenty of excellent support :)

I have been with GamStop since 2018 and registered all my correct info, every casino I logged into was closed down, this was excellent as it stopped me from playing and depositing money which eventually turned out to always be a loss. I would lose everything so needed to do something about my addiction, as my life was becoming hell.

I have a secondary email that I use as a none spam account but noticed I was getting emails from Unibet from an account I opened in 2015. I was able to log in and deposit, Gamstop also relies on me not to seek to gamble I understand that but when the temptation is there I found it very hard to stop :( and did it in secret to my family. I must note my bank card, address and info are all the same, I did not seek to open an account it was already open.

Now my worst night in 10 years finally happened last night, I got paid and started to play Bonanza on 40p a spin, I only deposited £75 this turned out to be £1500 6 hours later and it was all gone.

Now I am not looking to play the blame card and believe gambling is down to myself control not to deposit/gamble but I feel Unibet had a duty of care to flag my account at some point in the past year when I have been withdrawing and depositing money after all I was signed up to GamStop and feel I should have not been allowed to deposit and use there site.

I have spoken with UniBet and have CC an email to GamStop to send them my details for an investigation.

I understand if I would have won I would have kept the money, so I had no intention to freeload. I simply have noted a few websites where people have had success on claiming back a deposit?

Just looking for support/help :)

First thing I would do is speak to your family and tell them exactly what has happened post here too of course just ensure you are talking and getting it all out as its easy to hide try and forget about it ignore it and implode.

I would also speak to your bank and see if they can put any restrictions in place so its physically impossible for you to deposit even if they set you up with a type of 2FA that goes maybe to your partners phone so each online transaction you make she has to give you the code.

These are the first steps I would advise you to take before you go after in my opinion wrongly trying to reclaim funds that arent yours and you know it.

Unibet are registered with gamstop it’s pretty robust how they let you sign up?

Hi thanks for taking the time to reply. I have been in touch with gamcare and have sought counseling as I have never deposited my full wage, I usually have been able to 'keep control' if that's ever a word and only deposited £100 at a maximum each month throughout the past 14 months I have been able to use Unibet. But a few family issues lead to my downfall last night, which resulted in me losing my whole wage :( I have been up all night in a dark place coming to terms I have lost my rent/food/bills and living money. It's my fault I understand this. I have also taken measures blocking all gambling transactions with my bank.

I didn't sign up this is the issue here, I was already a member since 2015 this casino didn't close my account like the others and I was allowed to deposit/withdraw money.

Here we go again? I don't understand what you are getting at? I have acknowledged my downfall and have taken appropriate measures where I can, I am not begging of wanting charity from people like yourself thank you. I am looking for answers as to why a UKGC company Unibet can allow a user to gamble when they are signed up and have Gamstop all over their webpage? I am only looking for answers, yes its all my fault I get that. But isn't this the point of this section of the forum? To ask questions.

Well in mate and good on you for doing that at the bank and coming to terms with it I can't imagine what its like so wont try but taking positive steps is a good thing and always talk like I say on a forum to a mate or family member sitting in them dark places alone you don't see things straight but just off loading when you think you've failed can help as people highlight things positively that you don't originally see yourself this in itself talking about it is extremely positive good luck with it.

If this is the case under ALL the same details and no collusion then you should fight it as you have been failed by the service in my opinion. But I stress I can not see them getting this wrong i'm not questioning you in any way but i would check that there are no anomalies in any of the original sign up details.

I can confirm Unibet are robust, a little too robust IMO. My 6 month Gamstop (I wanted a break from slots) ended back in November and after I'd had it lifted I tried to sign up...account immediately suspended as soon as I created it pending investigation. They said they'd get back to me about why this was the case but never did (though I knew Gamstop was the issue).

I guess they just don't want ex Gamstoppers on their books. Fair enough, played elsewhere. Shame really as I had Unibet recommended to me as a good place to play.

That's brilliant advice thank you :) Its always easy to hide and keep things quiet. I had a brilliant talk with Gamcare and it helped me post on here and try to understand and talk about my problem with gambling. I just need to take the next step and explain to my partner the place I am in and what mess this has caused.

Its is 100% the same details bar the email address, I have not moved address and use a card in my name. I have twice spoken with live chat to self exclude and request my signup details, on both occasions I needed to provide security questions. These are the exact match on Gamstop. Name, DOB, Address etc..

Hi fothsn,

You may not be aware so I thought best to explain that Unibet is part of the Kindred Group, who also own 32Red. Just in case you wondered why I was getting involved with a brand that wasn’t in my name. :)

First of all I would like to reiterate what Mr_Slot said. Kindred pride themselves on providing the best RG experience for our players and have won several awards for doing just that. I’m so sorry that you are in the situation you are in, and if this is indeed a failing on our side I am sure you will be reimbursed as per regulations.

That said, I notice that you mentioned a new email address being used and my initial thought (not in the office at the moment) is that this issue could have been caused by the GamStop matching criteria not being satisfied which would be out of our control.

You mention you have raised this with the Unibet responsible gaming team and perhaps we need to wait their response. They will also be able to put a ban on your account which will apply across all brands - I presume that will have been done already?

Please do not hesitate to PM if I can be of any assistance in the process, best of luck with your situation.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for taking the time to reply I had no idea 32Red was part of Unibet and thank you for the explanation.

Just for clarification, all my other accounts associated with my other email were closed as I guess my name and other details matched up with there system. Does the system need to be 100% I gather people can have a various email address/telephone numbers but personal details don't change? DOB/Name/Address etc.. Do Unibet need to have all matching?

I manually self excluded myself for 5 years after loosing all my money, I then spoke with the live chat system to ask them about why I was allowed to deposit been listed with Gamstop they have asked me to email them and copy in Gamstop to start an investigation.

Also, I am certain I was self-excluded with 32Red as well. Is there a way I can check?

I must also add I have searched my email for 32Red and I have an account under the same email as the one registered on Gamstop.

Not saying its the case here, but its funny how stuff that people can change often ( email, Phone #) is weighted so much at gamestop but dob and adress is " ignored".

Seems very convinient.

Agreed however it is soon recognised if you try and open a 2nd account for a welcome bonus there would be an error saying user with this name dob and postcode already in our system and not allow it

Ive seen many cases here, where the only difference was email and possibly Phone.
I think there is a limit on how many with same name and dob, that live in same street and post ode.

Thanks for all the replies :)

I just have to see what the Unibet investigation says but I had an account from 32Red and this was self excluded in 2018 for 5 years as confirmed by live chat. If they are part of Unibet something has gone wrong as this account should have been shut as well? The details are the exact same bar the email address used when opening the both accounts in 2015.

Also, a to note I 'tried' to open a Unibet account in 2017 with my primary address as the one registered with Gamstop but this was closed due to a duplicate account, all this happened before the Gamstop exclusion.

I am just confused. Let's see what happens. Hope it all makes sense.

There was a cut-off date in 2018 when it became mandatory for casino operators to cross-check for self-exclusions when a casino was acquired by a different company. Prior to that there was no need and most didn't merge databases of SE-ed players.

You should seek more professional help obviously on this occasion gamstop ‘hasn’t worked’! Instead of trying to blame the ‘system’ go to a registered gambling addiction charity and keep trying until you overcome it being on a casino forum won’t help either don’t look for answers on here PROFESSIONAL HELP look for!!!

I am not blaming anybody but myself I acknowledge that? All this blahhhh I'm blame the casino to get my money back poor me I want my deposits back is not going to entertain me. This just shows how little-minded people are. I AM TRYING to make sense as to why my Unibet account was not closed.

Gambling is an addiction and its very hard to stop. This is why Gamstop is there? To help and block people from using UK casinos who are signed up with Gamstop. I walk past betting shops daily and don't enter them. When you are sat at home on your PC and the urge to deposit/gamble is huge, I am seeking help.

Just to clarify I have not opened any casino accounts since 2017. My Gamstop exclusions has been set since 2018. Please don't accuse me of being 'wierd' and making accounts, this is not the case and trying to get past the system.

This is a forum? Is freedom of speech ok here? This is about making sense of the situation and to see if Unibet have failed a player 'me' from gambling under a Gamstop & 32Red exclusion.

Feel free to mock 'I'm begging for my money back' I am a better person than that.

being totally honest with you mate no one has said most of what you said, like you’ve said it’s a forum freedom of speech blahhhh read my posts seek more help!! With most things theirs failures yes gamstop maybe has failed you! Don’t fail yourself seek help seek more help don’t Stop asking for help

I know mate, its 100% down to me, I am only blaming myself, a few now have noted why I've opened an account to gamble. These accounts were all closed after the Gamstop exclusion it was only Unibet stayed open.

Maybe I should not have posted on here and kept quiet while Unibet does an investigation. But is it not best to talk and speak out? If you look at the gambling commission. gov site in June 2019 Unibet was fined a vast amount of money for failing:

The investigation also found a failure to comply with:

  • Social responsibility code 3.4.1(1)(c)
  • Social responsibility code 3.4.1(e)(i) & (ii)
  • Ordinary code provision 2.1.1

I think my opening post of 'get my deposit' back has triggered people. These companies make billions from feeding off people's addiction.

I feel my story needs to be heard, if not to teach others the result of problem gambling and Gamstop does not seem 100% bullet proof.

Good luck..but unfortunately kindred group have a history of this thing.

Sorry for not updating. I've tried to stay away from Gambling related forums/websites even if they provide good.

My claim was rejected due to my unibet account sign up details were different to the GameStop details. This unibet account was opened in 2015 with 32 red, the exact same details were used but the 32 red account was closed shorty after setting up GameStop automatically but unibet wasn't. I was able to deposit/withdrawal using my credit card details which were registered to GameStop.

I registered with AskGamblers and made a claim with them again this was rejected.

I have since taken away from all of this, it is a very flawed system and is not perfect.

I have seeked help from a GameCare councillor this has been brilliant.

i had a similar experience with unibet and 32red. seems they make up rules as they go. did you question there 'award winning early detection scheme?'. I have asked them to explain what that actually means...no response however.

Happy to hear you trying to work with your problem, hope you doing well! Yes, it's far from perfect, if you just have enough details not matching, you're not recognized, also it includes some details which people do change and also some have habit to spell their name bit differently etc... It is unfortunately bit too easy to get around. Credit card details they don't collect though so that can't stop it. Would be cool if banks would offer option like some netwallets that gambling transactions wouldn't be allowed (which of course can also be circumvented easily).

Your last sentence is best what you can do, keep fighting against problem until you get over it and like you did already, get some support, it's not silver bullet either but many do get some help from these resources and when you fight against addiction, it's just smart way to try all support available, never know before trying what helps for who. Staying away from forums is good idea as well if you feel it can trigger you to gamble again.

All the best!
