What is your experince with the Gamble Button by some Slots.

Black or Red.
Have you a Strategy for this?

Sometimes i have luck and double the Win, but ever loose.

Hi Tiger,
thats not a question of strategy but of gambling mentality.
The odds are 50% -50%.
(if its not a very special english harbour syndrome).
If you feel like doubling- try your luck.
I personally never use it while playing slots.

Lost in translation!!

"ever" = never or always?
Note: Loose = slack, wobbly, unfastened (auf Deutsch = 'lose')
Lose = Misplace, drop (Auf Deutsch = Verlieren Sie)
This is a common error by English speakers too!
Lesson over! ;)

Anyway - I've never tried the double on slots, though I often do it on VP.
I might give it a try sometime; when you get one of those diabolically small feature wins you might just as well go double or nothing! :eek2:

I can't believe anyone would actually use this feature on the slots. Let me see if I have this right, I just spent God knows how many spins getting a win and now I think I will go over and "double it up" in a slot feature that I really doubt comes out 50/50 with regards to odds. Sounds like a losing proposition to me. I never use the gamble feature on the slots, it's difficult enough to win as it is.

I only double if I go bust but got a last win smaller than the required bet. You can be sure the odds are not better than 50%, but you can not be sure they are not worse. I believe Playtech and Microgaming has fair doubling, but I do definately not trust a lot of the smaller software providers, and this is not just because of English Harbour. Some slots in pubs or 'slot-casinos' are rigged (Denmark).I have seen how the doubling parameter on one of the slots could be configurated when I watched an operator and he talked openly about it.

After only winning 3 out of 25 doubling attemps in a session I stopped doubling totally. (This was actually at English Habour almost a year ago...) My finger do itch for the doubling button often though, but I at not touching it anymore! (And I am also not touching EH anymore...)

So bascially you get an even bet at best, but you take a risk of getting cheated. English Harbour did not help my confidence, especially since the bug was on the loose for weeks before it was found. Also I am disappointed by the weak reaction to this indicent from casino 'authorities' like it was no big deal.

I think it was in Bob Dancers VP book that it was refered to as 'the sucker bet'.

Given a fair doubling game and you double every time, mathematically it will just increase your variance but have same EV as the game you are playing.

But if you really love doubling (at 50/50 odds, not the high-low games) I would suggest you play Playtech VP where you can half-double. If you are doubling at a software provider which
count doubling as wagering, you should always go for 50% doubles (color) and not 25% doubles (suit) since this will give more wagering.

Explained:
1.You wager 1$ on suit:
you win and have 4$. Total wager is 1$. (25% chance fof this happening)
you lose and have 0$. Total wager is 1$.

2. You wager 1$ on color and repeat if you win:
You win both: You have 4$ and total wager is 3$. (25% chance fof this happening)
You win first, loose second: You have 0$ and total wager is 3$
You loose first: You have 0$ and 1$ wager

You and me both :)

Incidentally, in the slots released later this month by MG, there is one that doesn't have a gamble feature at all, according to the blurb anyway.

Great. I have accidentially gambled huge MG feature wins by mistake. When I get a huge feature win I often quit the game. When I later return to the game(even after restarting the client) it does still remember I just won and I still have the gambling button. But because I always start changing bet/lines I just spam click on the right area of the client (I know the layout by heart) I have at least 3 times pressed the doubling button by mistake, because the bet/#lines button have been replaced by gamble/collect buttons!

First time I did win 50$ at Roxy by mistake.. Great fun. When I later lost 40£ at 32Red I did not like it much anymore. When I later again lost 20£ at 32Red again I was furious!
Is it just me that is too clumsy/impatient, or have others tried this?

Unfortunately you can not take this gamble if you bankroll is smaller than the gamble bet size(if you have withdrawn or lost some at other games). I have tried (by mistake of course.. ;) ) but you get a message about not having enough credit for this bet. But this opens up for a 'feature'. If you win big at a slot, you can then quit the slot and save the gambling opportunity for later. Some desperate gambling addicts might like to have saved this 50% bet in case they will need money at some point later.

When playing VP, you're playing with a small house edge or sometimes even a player edge, so you really are increasing your variance (and risk of busting) for no gain in EV.

With slots, a "fair" gamble feature (with 0 house edge) would be a better bet than the underlying slot game.

With a negative expectation game like slots increasing the variance can be a good thing if you can manage to build up a big balance and then cash out.

I like to gamble on the suits (4X) a couple times on a game like Loaded. But I am not brave enough to gamble the really big feature wins!

I heard EH is coming up with a code adjustment that will allow this gamble.:D
