If that guy has 9 lives, he just used 8 of them right there.. Either the assasin forgot to put of the safety, or the weapon jam. Either way, that guy was VERY lucky.

Considering the gun jammed at the crucial moment, and the beating the gunman got was pathetic, how do we know it wasn't a set up? Assassination attempts can generate sympathy and votes for a struggling politician.
