As a youngster since around the age of 5 it has always been my dream for Wolves to win the FA Cup. Those dreams have never really come close to fruition nearly 50 years on. Beaten semi finalists on a few occasions and that’s about it. I grew up in a small rural village and my friends all supported Man Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool so I was used to not having much to cheer about and got a lot of ribbing. After all these years my passion for Wolves has never waned and there has been some dreadfully low moments. However things come to those who wait and tonight made all those years worth the wait. Wolves actually beat Man Utd fair and square. That was as good as a cup final for me. Whether Wolves make the final remains to be seen. A bit of luck in the draw may help. Everyone will hope to avoid Man City but if you want to say you are worthy winners you have to beat the best. One thing is for sure these days Wolves can give any team a game. I was going to say it makes me proud to be a Wolves fan but I have always been proud of them. The old gold and black. You beauties.

I remember liking Wolves in the Premiership because they were rubbish but had a cool orange kit & logo, as well as ol' Mick McCarthy trying his best to keep them afloat

I suppose I always had a soft spot for them, never in my wildest dreams could I foresee their meteoric rise in the last couple of years, after seasons of Championship struggles and more recently 'the Zenga days' :eek2: I thought they were done and dusted, like Leeds :D

So beats me what happened in the intervening 2-3 years. Wolves must have had some serious ownership changes and recruitment drives, because next thing I hear they're storming through the Playoffs with attacking swagger and great technical players!

Then signing Moutinho, Traore, Jimenez & co in the Summer made me almost choke on my pretzels, I know my Football Manager and that is some seriously impressive wizardry shit going on there for real :eek2:

I'd love them to win the F.A Cup, they're more than capable of beating anyone on their day, and they almost deserve it for the season they've had

Yeah it is nice to have a team that can compete rather than just turn up and hope for a desperate draw. It can’t be ignored that a cash injection certainly helps but Nuno is a cool and calculated man. He has spent wisely and doesn’t panic buy. He has a system and only recruits players that are fully committed to carrying it out and understanding their role. I just hope he is at Molineux for years to come. @adamtheaddict I seriously hope Liverpool can win the title it’s been a long time for a side with their history to have not won it. I really think it’s a nail biter and could go down to the wire. If it does your last game is at home to Wolves. My Dad is a Liverpool fan so I hope we don’t extinguish the bonfire. That is one game I won’t mind them losing.

Just watched the highlights now on BBC player, seeing the Man U keeper from afar at first I did think to myself "Man, de Gea's a bit ponderous there" before realizing it was Sergio Romero who was playing.

He's been on the Quarter Pounders I see, I think he's still trying to save the shot

Wolves looked tonight as capable as any of the top 6 teams above them. Some very good players there. The ManUre goalkeeper also kept another 2 or 3 great efforts out, 4-1 wouldn't have been an injustice. Let's hope they don't get Man City in the semi.

cheers snork, very gracious of you! my uncle is a hardcore wolves fan as it goes.
shame are also relying on City dropping points, but bigger miracles have happened i guess. take this thread for instance, i mention LFC once and there's been 4 replies and not even one has the word 'slip' in them.

anyway, where was i.. ah yeah, must get back to my technical problems with DOA.

outside.
now.
you'll know when im close, I'll be the guy running around london screaming for a goat.
Hey man, fret not, I follow the majestic Toon Army who's speciality is generally "We're winning! Oh no they've equalized. Shit we're losing now. Phew, we equalized" & our best player is a 29-year old Venezuelan West Brom reject (who we'll likely not even keep after)

I do want Liverpool to lift the title this year, I still remember when they dominated English football and I used to watch Rush/ Aldridge play on t'telly. Hell, while I'm here I'll say I even remember THAT game against Arsenal for the title. Back when real men played it out in a winner-takes-all match and not this poncey 'goal difference' shite :D

Yeah they were the days. Even as a Wolves fan the Merseyside derby was a mustn’t miss along with Man Utd v Liverpool and a whole host of others. Nowadays I think live football is saturated. As in if I miss the game at dinner time there’s another at tea time. Miss those and there is another on tomorrow etc, etc and maybe it’s just me but how many truly great games do you see today?

As a United fan, I have to concede that Wolves were by far the better team. And they were deserving winners.

So as a neutral, what would I want to see?
Well first things first, Brighton getting past Millwall to complete the SF lineup.
Because that semi final lineup would almost be like a step back in time to the early 80s.
City lost the '81 final (the first FA Cup final I watched), Brighton the '83 final and Watford the '85 final. While Wolves won the '80 League Cup.

My preference would be a Watford v Wolves final, because that would easily be the closest matchup on paper.
Whatever happens, I hope at the very least, that one of them makes the final.

Very true, it's over-saturated with no sign of slowing down. It's even infected Internationals with the 'Nations League', which is basically a Mickey Mouse cup with bells on to drum up more revenue.

I remember getting Sky 10 years ago now, and the Sports package. It was at the time David Haye fought Valuev The Giant, my first-ever PPV purchase (sob)

I thought I was in Sporting Eden. Look! Cesc Fabregas in HD!!

Of course that got boring as the games were generally shite back then too, and I soon ditched the package, despite their constant badgering and pleading since

There's only three games that stuck out in that time where we went 'Wow', namely Chelsea vs Barcelona where Ronaldinho mocked Chelsea's backline, the Final of Finals between Liverpool & Milan that time (06?) and the Italy/ Germany SF at the Vuvuzela World Cup in 2010. Other than that, the only time the season(s) get remotely interesting is relegation scrappage :p

While we are on football I will share this memory of my childhood and just how much football meant to me. It was in the early 70’s when I was about 7 or 8. In those days you had Match of the day and now and again the midweek match (or something like that). I was allowed to watch Mod sometimes but not the midweek match. My Dad was not a man to disobey and when he said bed you disappeared quickly. Occasionally if you lay on the floor as quiet as a mouse he may feeling tired from work miss the time a little and you may get a 15 minute stay of execution. This very night was 1 of those (I think it was Liverpool v Anderlecht). European football (I had only ever dreamt of watching it) and I had managed to go unnoticed as the programme started. Which unfortunately alerted my Dad to the fact I should of been in bed. I pleaded with him but eventually he said “if you don’t get up the wooden you’ll get a good thrashing”. This was the signal to disappear quickly. My bedroom was directly above the sitting room and I could hear the muffled sound of the commentary. I lay there for a while plucking up the courage and then I did it went back downstairs opened the sitting room door and was met by a glare that would shatter lesser men from my Dad. “What are you doing out of bed he bellowed”. Bravely I said I have decided to have a good thrashing and watch the football. If I remember right I think I got to see 10 mins courtesy of Mum fighting my corner:laugh:.

Well I have just about recovered after the heartbreak of last years FA Cup semi against Watford. A game Wolves lost that was hard to take.

Not quite the FA Cup but I have just listened to one of the most exciting games I ever heard on radio. Up against last years champs who were reduced to 10 men after about 10 mins I thought this will be interesting. It didn’t go to plan though as it often doesn’t in that situation and after 50 mins Wolves were 2-0 down.

But this Wolves team never gives up and I always felt a goal back quickly and a draw is a distinct possibility. It duly happened thanks to Traore the player everyone wrote off as having pace and nothing else. What did Sam Allardyce say at the start of the season? Oh yeah “he’s the type of player that gets managers the sack”. Not the first thing you’ve got wrong Sam. Judgement doesn’t seem to be your strong point.

Traore then makes the second for Jimenez and I am thinking if you could write the perfect football match that had everything (from my point of view) all that is needed to complete the story is Wolves score a last minute winner.

Step forward Matt Doherty you superstar. I am surprised my neighbours didn’t call for the men in white coats as they must have wondered what the hell was going on as I celebrated like a man possessed.

Football is either in your blood or it isn’t I think and if it is you know where I am coming from. To Anfield on Sunday where I hope Wolves play well, it should be a great game. I actually think Liverpool are a great side and it will be nothing short of a miracle if they do not win the title this season. Even a draw there would be a good result but as long as we play with desire, passion and commitment then I never moan and this Wolves side never lacks any of those qualities.

Holy crap. Ederson doing a Schumacher
Actually talking World Cup that was the best match I have ever seen. That game had everything (think I have mentioned it but can’t be bothered to read back through). A superb French side that played beautiful football against the grit, determination and organisation of the Germans.

One of the greatest travesties ever that France were robbed of glory. I was really routing for them that evening. Whether they would have beaten Italy in the final who knows but that semi final game will live with me forever.

What a game and comeback from Wolves last night.

Man City got what they deserved - The referee / VAR seemed extremely biased IMPO. Dive from Mahrez for the penalty and the retake :what:. Ref not giving Wolves advantage when they were through on goal also...

Dubious officiating but they pulled the double over City.

I was so chuffed, I always had a soft spot for Wolves as I have friends living over in Wolverhampton and been to a couple of games as well.
Great to see the gazillion squad being outplayed again, also great result for Liverpool!!

And yes the ref was quite bad, all pro City decisions.

Atkinson is Liverpools biggest enemy. He will do anything to ensure they are not successful.

Just look at his antics when Liverpool played Man Utd.
