EXPERIMENT WITH VP

Hi everyone. I did an experiment this past week. I played extensively at my local B&M casino as well as online. In my 3 visits to the B&M, I only had one 4 to a royal in all the play which is pretty normal. When playing online ( MG ) I hit 4 to a royal on average 4 to 8 times every 60 to 90 minutes. It has been like this since early Dec/07. By the way I hit 4 aces twice back to back the other night at the B&M for 6K each on a game called triple bonus where you get 1200 coins for that. Too bad they do not have that VP online. The more I play online the more I realize something does not smell right. For you VP players, how do you find the other sites ( non MG ). Cheers

i find most vp online does not sit well with me. in b&m it is my game of choice but i have yet to find any online to compare. micro was close but cant play there anymore. i have tried 3dice vp but it plays like a slot. if you switch games they seem to be "connected". all dead or all good at once. very streaky also and they dont disguise the losses well. example... draw 4 to a strait, if you dont catch the strait the card drawn seems to be one of the cards you hold all the time. hold 3456, next card is always a 3456. no problem not catching the strait but disguise it better. same with the double down. mix in the losses better. no need to lose to an ace every time. if you have a 7, and you are not supposed to win, show an 8 not an ace every time. the outcome is the same but the dress up is poor. rtg plays halfway decent but the graphics are poor. i like the option to double down, on multihand, that rival has but am still up in the air as to the casinos themselves and have not given it enough play to form an opinion. i did royal at cocoa the first time i played but that doesnt mean it's ok. no matter what the online casinos say the payouts and play are no where near b&m.

Hi,

I love playing VP online too, and although I have no where near your volume of play, I highly recommend WagerWorks casinos for video poker. The games "feel" fair and I have never noticed any anomalies like you have at MG. The distribution of hands dealt just feels really random. Thinking back I'm also sure the number of royals I have hit at JoB is pretty much on expectation considering the number of hands I have played.

Check out Skybetvegas.com (fat GBP 250 cashable bonus) or bluesqcasino.com (GBP 75 cashable bonus) as they are the only WagerWorks left that still allow Canadians. Comps are also given at a good rate and are immediately withdrawable.

Only downside is they only offer three variants: Jacks or Better, "Bonus Poker", and "Joker Poker", but they do have single and multi-hand versions as well as many coin sizes.

Hi RobWin and thanks for the response. I think I will try 3 Dice. I don't see things changing very soon at MG. When you have played VP for as long as I have and as much as I have you tend to be able to corner a pattern quite easily. It is sad to see that MG has gone this route. Thanks all for your advice. Cheers

It's a shame this kid of thing is so hard to prove. If this could be shown to be true, that MG is "weighting" the deck in VP, then it will be a SERIOUS blow to their credibility.

It IS possible to do some experiments with MG, due to their "autoplay" and game stats features. I did this once with 50-hand Jacks or Better. I had results for more than a quarter of a million hands, but did not see anything too odd, although I was not ever dealt a pat straight flush, and I worked out I had played about a quarter of a PAT RF cycle, so although my total payouts were below the expected 99.54%, these high hands would have made a huge contribution to the total payout percentage.
Using this method to count "4 to a royal" cannot be done, as it only logs the final hands after the draw, not the dealt hands. Playing enough hands manually to create a sample big enough to withstand accusations of "within the realms of possibility for a random game" would take a very long time, and would probably need several million hands to be tracked for occurences of "4 to a royal" and of those, how many failed to make RF.
