Yep, it's a stinging way to lose, we had the first half, they the second, extra time pretty even and we finished with the 3 shittiest, tame & flaccid penalty kicks that have ever disgraced a major penalty shootout. So we deserved to lose. But that said, it was nice to experience a final for the first time in my life and they did well overall. Congrats Italy, the old Italian guile of fouling mixed with quick precise play helped them along and they held their nerve at the vital moment.

Was thinking before they took the penalties they missed that it was a huge ask to sub those youngsters on, essentially adding to an already immense amount of pressure after sitting on a bench for 1.5 hours and then to be told their first touch of a ball is going to be one of the most important touches they might make in their career, essentialy multiplying the presure tenfold on what it was already. Glad Lineker and Shearer mentioned the same thoughts after. Managed to predict where each of them would shoot too that ended up missing or saved. (Yes, like ive been saying for the past 20 years when England play, i should have been the manager)


Credit to Italy though on the whole. Some dirty play here and there, especially the pull back on the half way line on Saka that would have probably let him run on towards goal with his pace if it didnt happen (id of probably pulled him over too lol)

To be fair to England the opportunity to win it was in the first half (esp the first 1/2 hour) where the Italians didn't look like they'd gotten out of bed; felt like if they'd went for their throats, could have had a few but, after that, it was reminiscent of the Italians of old. Kane going awol in the second didn't help.

Other disappointing thing was having to listen to that dipshit Ferdinand for longer than one should.

Well end of the day the Italians deserved to win. They had a much harder run to the final. They did what they are best at and played their style of football.

As for Southgate i like his demeanour. But i think he screwed up big time. Penalties should have been for his experienced players. Not bringing on a couple of youngsters and putting the pressure on them. I could understand having an experienced striker on bench and saying put you on for a penalty. Not a youngster with no experience in a situation like that.

What a shame it had to end on penalties. Italy deserved it though. England did goto sleep in second half though too! Southgate made some bad decisions this game which is a shame as well. As he has done very well in this tournament. Oh well. Congrats to Italy and at least us Brits managed to witness us in a final in our lifetime if your younger than 55 that is lol

Right a few observations. Marcus rashford what the actual fuck was that run up so so bad he missed before he even took it. Sancho has hardly kicked the ball the whole tournament. Then Saka who is still a baby he had the balls to take it but why no senior players a 18 year old taking the last one questions need to be asked of Southgates decisions tonight. Henderson would of scored a penalty and Sterling too.
