Interesting article at EGamingReview regarding affiliates, and the power they can carry in the industry. The part about the WH acquisition of the 70,000 strong affiliate database, and how that played into the pricetag of 144 million Euros (when acquiring Playtech's CPays group), is especially telling IMO.
I found it interesting simply for the fact of what I was saying in one of the Gambling Wages threads...how important these super or mega affiliates are to an affiliate program, and thus the casino itself. Again, all about marketing, and zero to do with players.
The first link is to the main article itself. The second link is to the top Casino affiliates. Monday was top Bingo affiliates, today was top Casino affiliates...tomorrow and Thursday are Poker and Sportsbetting affiliates, respectively. Links to each of the "top" lists are at the bottom of the main article.
If you notice, both Casinomeister, and Games and Casino (Dominique's site) made the list for casinos. Thank God neither one of them advertises GW, lol...now I just gotta work on CasinoBonusGuy.
I posted this in hopes that maybe some posters here will understand why we are so hard on affiliates that promote rogues such as the Virtual Group. They have ALOT of influence within the industry, and by sheer volume alone, account for many new player signups.
