Why go to all this trouble of covert operations using under cover agents, surveillance, insider information, and every other technique used in the high end world of crime - and basically give those responsible a slap on the wrist. Any involvement in the world of drugs is intent to supply, from growing, distribution, safe housing, money laundering. I defy anyone to step into the dark world of class `A`drugs, get them self arrested with just over the amount of what is deemed for personal use on them, and see what the results are...........
1). An absolute minimum prison sentence of 5 years.
2). Seizure of property, belongings, anything that is deemed to have been bought from the proceeds of selling drugs.
3). Certain countries will impose the death penalty.
A break down of the punishment HSBC received is nothing more than a few months interest from their vast wealth, paid for by the stock holders and pension funds.
Absolutely changing nothing whatsoever for the perps who done this, as those responsible walk away with no criminal charges against them, due to being charged as an entity (HSBC), and not the individuals in charge of the operations.
America spends 53% of it's annual budget on the military, to which a high majority goes towards it's war on terror, here was an ample opportunity to recoup some of the huge losses these wars cost and put people behind bars whilst doing so, thus decreasing funding for these wars considerably, resulting in less deaths and less expenditure on their behalf.
The war against drugs and terrorism showing it's true colours once again, for those that actually believe in the true cause of both these wars.
Why wasn't those responsible for these crimes subjected to all the Patriot Act stands for, and whisked away to Guantanamo Bay like you or I would have been, regarding the link to terrorism and funding it?.
In perspective - A Swiss bank was recently forced to shut down business for the heinous crime of opening accounts for those, whose sole purpose was US tax evasion.
