Desperate times...

Dom, did you have any good luck while you were there ? Or did you see anyone else hit any big jackpots ??

I didn't see any big jackpots hit, but then I wasn't paying much attention to others except my friends.

I played for a week many hours a day (too much, lol, didn't get a bunch of the things done that I planned to do while there) on an initial $200, went up and down and had some nice wins like $600 on a $1.20 bet and repeatedly so.

When I win while playing with someone I tend to share, so I gave away a bunch of money to friends as I went.

At some point The Palazzo/Venetian gave me a $200 bonus, which you have to play through once and on one machine only (almost all machines qualify, so you pick one you like). I walked with $100 cash on that one.

I think overall in the week of play I ended up some $500 ahead, most of which I ended up giving away or buying presents for hubby with.

It's actually been my best play value stay ever. Vegas doesn't tend to pay well for me.

I found the Chinese theme slots to be paying out the best, but that of course can be coincidence.

We all had a ball and I can't wait for spring when we will do it all again.

That's great, sounds like you had a good week and a fun time without suffering any real losses !!

Since our ever friendly, non sensical bot has resurrected this post, I'll add something...

We visited Tunica at Xmas time. I have received NOTHING from Sam's Town Tunica (a Boyd Gaming property) other than an invite to a slot tourney -- no food or free night included. (they changed their slot club, if you'll remember, and I went from VIP to Who?).

However... I have received repeated offers thru mail and email to Boyd properties in Las Vegas. 3 free nights and race tickets at any one of 3 Boyd LV properties, etc.... 3 free nights and show tickets, for March, 3 free nights and $100 slot play... etc... Vegas wants me, but Tunica doesn't? LOL

I think the Vegas properties are seeking warm bodies any where/way and just hoping some of them will have a few bucks in their pockets.

From what I see, the Vegas casinos are going back to the "Old" days when gamblers were king and no one ever thought to bring their kids to Vegas.

The idea of turning Vegas into Disneyland has not worked.

From what I hear... The casinos on the strip would rather have a gambler than a family come stay at their casino now days.

Currently your most likely not going to see a lot of Comps at the land based casinos, till after you have gambled a sizable amount.

At Tunica, they require X$ within 6 months to reach second tier. I got halfway there in one trip. I know how much play it takes there, and, unfortunately, when Sam's Town changed to the Boyd Gaming system wide comp system, not only does it take more play for less in comps, they ate (deleted) over $300 in comps and my VIP status. Everyone is 'starting over from scratch'. Pissed me off after playing there faithfully for years. At any rate, they must think I'd blow a few bucks if they put me up in Vegas for free. LOL

And yes, I do hope Vegas goes away from the Disney in Vegas attitude. Stands to reason that Mom and Dad with 3 kiddies in tow are going to spend more time and money at the pool, in the buffet, and off property than Mom and Dad alone would spend on gaming floor.

I tend to believe that it won't happen, at least until our economy and unemployment rate is in better shape. It'll be years before that happens.
