Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

So don't buy the doll if you don't like it electronictonic. There's plenty of other dolls out there without facemask included. You'll still be alright in your choice of dolls.

At least you're consident with the large majority of people who posted in here over the last 18 months or so e.g try to ridicule the poster thus invalidating what they say by default, oh well.

Spending 18 months posting in this thread to be met with the same mick taking responses 99% of the time makes me not in the mood for a joke.

You want a serious reply on that video? No problem.

I think an ad where a toy manufacturer is trying to cash in on current affairs is a little far fetched to show proof about a "cult".

All of the fear porn we are subjected too when the figures speak for themselves

One of the biggest problems over the last two years is predictions on the science. Medicine and Science is an ongoing discussion between different experts with differing views. When one side is shut down and canceled and not allowed to be heard then it breaks down.Furguson warned there could be 6000 deaths a day in the uk in January. look at todays figures 28 deaths "with it" yesterday I believe. They where told by South Africa that we would follow a similar pattern to SA with this new variant and it is shown to be true. London's figures are coming down. They are not following the data

*shrugs
It's a doll. No vaxx, don't buy it for yer kids. It ain't saying 'go empty mommy's medicine cabinet'

What I meant is that it is even creeping into something as innocent as a childs doll, they way they are forcing it into every single facet appears cult like.

I dunno, Barbies and their ilk follow trends. She was a homemaker then a nurse and pilot and had her own car and didnt need to ride passenger-side of Ken's mid-life crisis.
Easy bake ovens became science labs.
Just buy the bloody toy you want your kid to grow up with

Children are being indoctrinated into a compliant mindset. At school and in play and sports.
The way censorship and brainwashing is going folk like Galileo and Emily Pankhurst would have been banned by fucking Twitter

I woke up this morning to the news of Djokovic being denied entry, and am really unsure how I feel about this, as it just another example of the hypocrisy our Government chooses to preach.

"Since the criteria for the Australian Open became clear, it always appeared that Djokovic intended to find a way to compete at the tournament and continue his push for history at a critical moment for tennis, but only without compromising those beliefs."

So to a certain extent, he is the author of his own fate, due to his arrogance, as he has frequently described questions relating to his vaccination status as “inappropriate”. Which of course has has only made his stance on vaccination that much more conspicuous. And newsworthy.

BUT... "The exemption applications were reviewed by two independent panels of experts, one assembled by Tennis Australia and another by the Victorian government, which were described as a more rigorous process than for regular citizens."

Something the Federal government chose to override.

And the question must be why?

Particularly as although our government states 'Rules are rules and must be followed", there are so many examples when they don't follow this themselves.

During the pandemic, Australia has become "Aussiewood", due to the number of celebrities who have fled to our shores. To give you a taster: Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Ron Howard, Tilda Swinton, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, etc. And throw some homecoming Aussie stars into the mix as well, such as Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Kylie and Danni Minogue, Rose Byrne, Isla Fisher, etc.

But where has been the compassion extended to the 40k ordinary citizens stranded abroad? They have effectively been blocked from returning home, and there has even been a Human Rights complaint lodged with the United Nations, as our Government has demonstrated very clearly it cares more about the tax breaks it is offering Hollywood, than it does to its own citizens.

So for the decision made by the Victorian Government and Tennis Australia to be overridden based on "Rules are Rules and must be followed" is hypocritical in the extreme. And regrettably, not uncommon for Scott Morrison's fraud of a Government.

Although I believe everyone should be vaccinated, if a vaccine exemption is granted, then it should damned well be honoured. To have the Government trying to weasel out of the consequences by stating that "the wrong visa was applied for" is despicable in the extreme.

Shame on you, Scotty from Marketing. Shame on you.

Scotty really comes across as a 24 carat plonker. His plan of waiting out the virus with lockdowns and shutting off all normal tourism, until a herd immunity gaining vaccine arrived, has sailed.

Imo the overarching tennis authority and possibly sports adjudicator in switzerland should be involved, this is deranged politics meddling with world professional sports.

The science is clear the vaccines do not prevent transmission, therefore djokovic defending his title while unvaccinated adds no quantifiable risk to the public on top of what exists out there already. He could also take regular daily tests to make sure he remains covid free etc..

Well, that is certainly an unusual viewpoint, and not one I have encountered before.

Not one I agree with either, I'm afraid.

The suggestion that Sporting Associations should have the power to challenge - or even override - a country's entry requirements is implying that World professional sportsmen/sportswomen are a breed apart from us lesser mortals, and should be subject only to the rules of their own Sporting Bodies, and not the laws of any country they wish to gain entry to.

You have no idea. We have to live with this idiot and his nonsense every day.

The science is clear the vaccines do not prevent transmission,
Very true, but that particular statement tends to be misleading without context.

To explain further: the efficacy of vaccines in preventing transmission has raised concerns in recent studies, which show the highest viral load - appearing within the first week of infection - is similar in both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

However, vaccinated people clear the virus faster, with lower levels of virus overall, and have less time with very high levels of virus present.

The conclusion is that vaccinated people are less generally less likely to be contagious, which is why vaccination is a far better option than non-vaccination.

therefore djokovic defending his title while unvaccinated adds no quantifiable risk to the public on top of what exists out there already.
There is a 'quantifiable risk' contained in his unvaccinated status, as explained above.

He could also take regular daily tests to make sure he remains covid free etc..
I agree, as long as he tests and remains COVID free. Assuming he is allowed entry, and really didn't try to 'run the border'.

I would love to see Novak play, as I am a major fan - a great tennis player, a philanthropist, is actively trying to help lower-ranked players by changing the way prizes are distributed, and appears to have a lovely sense of humour.

OK. I agree he can be sulky and petulant when playing, and has some very outlandish views - 'mind power' to purify water - but as far as I am concerned, his strengths outweigh his weaknesses.

However, many of the tennis players who have already arrived are expressing 'anti-Novak' sentiments, as is much of the Australian populace, so even if he is allowed in, I would imagine that will be a tough one for him to overcome.

True, more and more breakthrough cases but it does stop the hospitalization stage.

Found out yesterday my sister has Covid and she has both doses of the vaccines. She was also tested iirc way back in like Feb of 2020 and was positive for anti-bodies.

I'd need to see peer reviewed studies (multiple) on this transmission issue before agreeing, the last I heard the viral load is no different. But that could be referring to the initial phase of the illness, if an unvaccinated person was unable to fight the virus off during that period, the viral load would gradually increase and they'd be coughing/breathing it out and spreading it. (if not staying in and away from others)

The point about the sporting bodies is the host nation should apply logical and fair rules to who can enter the country to take part, I can't remember what happened last year - did the tournament go ahead?

The ultimate end would not be that the wta would override the australian govt but they would no longer recognise the tournament, if they had any ethics for the players and sport that is what they'd do imo. Unfortunately many countries are looking to adopt similar deranged, health choice discrimination policies, so there wouldn't be much of a tour left.

[What happens when a 4th booster shot is required for visa entry to australia etc because of the 'science'... more and more players may not want it.]

It is a blatant form of coercion on a professional athlete, that he's not permitted to take part in his sport (and earn his living, set records etc) within that country on the tour. Unless he agrees to a medical intervention he doesn't want or decides he needs.

The Biden Vaccine mandate is being heard by the SCOTUS. If upheld 1-3% of the US workforce could be unemployed.
It's got to be unconstitutional, how can you have freedom of speech and gun rights but no right to decide medical interventions for yourself.

Still not overly confident about the so-called 'conservative' judges, Thomas will probably vote against but not sure about the others.

Funny how that works for republicans with their anti-abortion bullshit. But carry on.

Obesity is one of the largest health problems / killers in the country right now, higher I believe than cancer.

They've just taken yet another opportunity to link something else to flamin Covid.

Interesting read and something I would, from the right source tend to find believable mate.

Interesting read is the least you could say.

"Get full details in today’s podcast, which also features jaw-dropping news about dating-aged women lying about their vaccine status in order to pretend they are still fertile. Since vaccines make women infertile, men are dumping women once they find out they’re vaccinated"

Sex without consequences yay!

Fixed. ;)

Fair enough. There has been so much misinformation being spread around that it never hurts to read as much about it as possible from reputable sources before making a decision one way or another.

the last I heard the viral load is no different. But that could be referring to the initial phase of the illness,
I am assuming you also need to see peer reviewed studies (multiple) before also agreeing this point of view is accurate? Simply stating 'The last I heard" tends to imply the answer is 'No'.

So your saying that taking care of your health has no impact on the effects of catching covid? Ok.

The possibility of it spreading enough as to creating a worldwide immunity is being mooted a fair bit

The poor nurses appear to shit scared to answer his honestly. Well done to Dr Steven James -who is an anaesthetist and has treated covid victims from the start for telling him how medical staff view the jab situation. Jabbit must have shit himself.

Javid very dismissive of the logical and professional opinion of the anaesthetist.

They only want to hear people who fall in line with their plan of making a killing from the event. Sacrificing health for wealth, from all the media and coverage ive been watching of late, im glad I skipped the vaccinations now to be honest.

Still a bit nervous over the whole situation though. Hopefully, we will all be safe and well and somewhere along the way, in the not too distant future, some real politicians get into power instead of the dictators currently in power.
