Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Here you go bud. She is obviously not a medic but she does do her research well. I enjoy listening to her even if I don't agree with all that she has to say because she gives me food for thought. And she does love to ramble. In fact I may propose to her next year :p
I have read other stuff on India too but I can't stay on this thread forever :)

Well thats just grim reading :(

Getting pretty dire in NI now, according to the latest figures only 6 unoccupied beds in the whole of the country.
Plus another side effect from the " flu" less and less staff to man ambulances and call stations, meaning long delays for non urgent patients.

BBC MSM lies.

(I'm practising INDEPENDENT THOUGHT and not being a 'sheeple' by challenging the narrative of lies and oppression made possible by government sock-puppets such as the BBC.)

Email sent to staff at the Royal London Hospital today.

A 1:3 ratio of staff to patients for ICU is into really scary territory, they are running out of staff.

This of course is why the Nightingales never did much of anything, an ICU bed is just a bed without the staff to tend to the patient, merely a place where someone will die.

The worst thing about all this is that we're a long way from the peak of this wave, Christmas infections will only be starting to present themselves, and we've got New Years Eve tonight where we know full well lots of people will be mixing and spreading infection.

It does not surprise the post Chopley made with the email sent to Royal London. Im not South but they are preparing now at a rapid pace and a massive surge over the next 3 to 4 weeks in our main hospital. I know 2 key staff working their. And they are really concerned. ICU units are being made again in operating rooms and they emptying none critical beds as fast as they can. But the margin of what is now being classed as none critical and critical is getting slimmer.

On a personal note a family member very close to me is undergoing cancer treatment which from mid january is being moved to his home where he will self administer his own chemo tablets. Something normally not available. They have informed him they can not guarantee continuity of medication outside of the home. This is going to get much worse before we see any improvment and it will make the "first peak" seem like a walk in the park. The next 2 months will be hell and the powers that be know it.

My own personal fear is the virus mutates to such a degree that it becomes "immune" to current vaccines. Then its kind of what now ? Our econmony is already on its knees in the UK. Thanfully I can work from home but I know many who can not. Its going to get very desperate in some regions. Happy fucking New year ......:what:

Plus the NHS has 1.3 million employees.

If they cant look after 120,000 or even 200,000 people, including staffing the nightingales, then we may as well disband the fucking thing

I know it’s terrible, had to remove the dead from my drive earlier to take my daughter home..

I must be the only one left alive in Middlesbrough, it’s like 28 days later...

Going to be honest here mate, I think you're being extremely disrespectful to the people on here who have had loved ones die from this. Whatever your thoughts on things, there's no need to take the piss like that, you know there's people on here who have had family die after catching it, so they are the 'dead' you are talking about. This is the third or 4th time you've said something like that in the past couple of days :(

With all due respect the anti trump jokes where fine. Nobody cared, yet many of us on the other side where barraged with abuse.

a joke is a joke, we can’t pick and choose what offends us to suit.

There's a time and place for jokes. Joking that Belgium isn't a real country doesn't hurt anyone. Joking about a deadly disease is not done.
Belgium isn’t a country.

and as said mate it’s a joke. We can’t pick and choose what people find offensive or not, as said jokes for 9 months plus about trump where fair game, but this not so much?

pretty sure I’m the only one here who volunteered and did work for the nhs also, you would be surprised the dark humour a doctor or nurse uses to get through a average day..

de-snowflake guys ffs

de-snowflake FFS.

You are making jokes about people dying, in a thread where people have had immediate family die due to the virus this year.

Are you telling them to de-snowflake?.

I'm sorry Ben but you have been way out of line for about a week now, some of your comments have just been downright disgusting, Followed by an apology the next day.

To then just continue to spout utter bile, from where you left off, without thought or regards to anyone in this or any other thread.

Who here has lost family directly to covid? I wasn’t aware there was any?

I don’t agree with the whole premise of Covid nor the over reaction.

it’s a joke, I’m not a nasty man as most here should know..

Again if those that lost folks are so outraged then by all means contact me and I’d happily re think, but to be outraged on behalf of others and do it publicly is a whole new ball game.

It doesn't offend me, I think it's disrespectful. You have made the same 'joke' three or four times in the past couple of days, if I was offended by it I would have said something the first time.

Not going to go into what I was doing during the first lockdown in detail, but I was out delivering meals to the elderly and vulnerable every day I didn't have Ellie here. I also did some overnight shifts for the Samaritans from around mid April, but couldn't do that many as I was having El 4 nights a week at times, and it was too much.

Neither were for the NHS, and I'm fully aware that doctors and nurses have dark humour, but I bet none of them would tell jokes about say a dead nana to someone who's nana has just died.

Members on here have had loved ones die because of this.

Ben you have been told exactly who has lost family on one or more of your recent outbursts, which you were deeply sorry for, yet carried on with the diatribe daily.

Do you honestly think that folks that have lost loved ones are going to contact you personally so that you may have a rethink, get a fecking grip.

You say your not a nasty man, but the only thing that has come from your mouth lately is Poison.

You have seemed to have done well since your last ban, yet your true ugly colours are shining through, yet again.

Every one who died is someones immediate family. My friends dad died back in March. Yes he was old but he was doing ok until he got covid . He died alone in hospital .

However i do not need to personally know those who have died to feel sad that they have passed and left behind a family now grieving. It is called empathy . Human kindness . Compassion.

Of course you are entitled to your views about lockdown and vaccines and masks etc. However it is not at all nice to be so dismissive of those who lose their lives. What does it matter if anyone on this forum has lost anyone does it mean if they have not you can be nasty about stuff . I must be missing something .

I dont think it matters how many people on the forum have had someone close, a friend, a colleague, an associate or whatever pass away from this, its the fact that 1,822,000 people so far have passed away in the world from this virus and some people think its appropriate to joke about that.

Look clearly I won’t and don’t have a leg to stand on here.

I’ve not had a single person PM me, if they had regarding how I’ve been insensitive then so be it, but I’ve not.

I don’t just as I find corona not as seriously as others take it as a joke... some of us deal with things differently.

clearly many here are upset with my posts, so for that minority I’ll not comment no further on the subject, call it cancelling me if you will.

i will not however stop my corona cooking posts as many enjoy those.

so those wanting me silenced, you win (yay)

We should not joke about people who have perished.

I don't care about what other people think about the pandemic.

2020 was a shitty year.

Here's a song to remember those who didn't make it through this year.

The house we lived in
Stricken with blight
Finding ways to kill the pain

The road to the grave is straight as an arrow
I'm just staying around to sing your song, baby

Stay safe people and all the best to everyone in 2021.

Fair play. I have said sorry, again.
Took it too far so sorry to all it’s affected.

Looking at the UK infection numbers for the last day around 1 in 100 people caught it, doesnt sound too bad
until you realise that if it continues at that rate (which it shouldnt), the whole population will have caught it in
just over 3 months. If we didnt have vaccine it could actually happen.

Anyway stuff it all ,Happy New Year to everyone, If I drank I would get pissed out my head tonight.

Don't worry Shadow. I'll take the bullet for you. I might not like it, but I'll do it.

Happy 2021. I know you had a rough year, all the best in the new year.

Well the year has came to an end.

Now worse of figure wise than start of pandemic.

In Glasgow been near enough so called Lockdown for months and figures rise.

Hate to see them in another few weeks after Christmas. All the people going to new years parties tonight and the amount of people i know that will be packing into friends houses Saturday for the football.

That is why i disagree with the lockdown as such. Unless you are in a country where you actually enforce the rules hard and nearly everyone follows them then it is pointless.

Go Back to last March where everyone was told Lockdown now for few weeks and we can beat virus. 9 months later we are still getting told the same.

Least we are not getting the scaremongering about how we would be getting 40,000 deaths a day if we did not lockdown.

To be honest the whole thing is a farce. Even now in England not the whole country is yet on strictest tier. Why the hell not as even if they did not have the cases yet they probably will soon. Scotland cases were down and hospitals no where near under pressure when we got told lockdown was happening. Few weeks later figures are at highest ever.

And all we have to look forward to is this vacination. Given that most of the people spreading the virus will not even get the jag till spring at the earliest it is going to be a long year. Also fact way the virus is mutating so much who knows if vaccine will even work in couple months time.

Yeah i can see both sides of the argument as to why so many are for or against lockdown. But personally if it had been a full scale lockdown like China i would have agreed. But in a country where Leaders have not got a clue. Where a lot of people do not care or follow rules then Lockdown is pointless.

The economy and people livelihoods are getting destroyed by a pointless Lockdown.

Yes people will go no Lockdown saves lifes and protects NHS. Yes maybe it would if done properly.

But i am sure many areas are like Glasgow. In full Lockdown. But look at the streets. Plenty people about. Plenty hang around shops and go in without masks. Buses are busy. Even in Lockdown so many people still work. I work and personally i would not say my job is Essential.

They close all non essential shops. But allow them open for Click and Collect. So you have all these shops open that should be shut. Still have all the Security , Staff Cleaners etc. working. Had schools open most of time. Still allow places open for people to go in for takeaways. Many other things people do that you would thing would not be allowed.

Think people seem to have an idea that oh the country is in Lockdown so virus should be hard too spread. Do not think people actually realize how much actually still goes on and how many people are still out mixing at work and how many places are actually still having staff working.

So yeah way this country does a Lockdown is indeed a waste of time. Shut everything for a month. Stop the public transport. Enforce all those breaking the law then you might have a Lockdown that works.

Anyway like too wish everyone a Good New Year. Hope everyone stays safe and makes the best of things that they can. If anyone is feeling depressed and down then try find someone too talk too or send a PM to someone on here that might listen.

The amount of people lonely and depressed tonight is frightening. Mental Health has never been as bad as since this virus started.

May 2021 be a better year for all. Hopefully this virus will slowly die away . Brexit might not be as bad as thought and even Chopley might find a positive too it. Okay lol maybe that's going too far.

Happy New Year everyone.

It was a long read Paul. I had to have a beer in the middle of the reading assignment.

So I kind of skipped to the end. Happy new year to you too. :drink:
I don't read the crap i post either. Just type it and send lol.

Anyway hope all is good in Finland. Have a bottle vodka for me and watch some Babymetal. Enjoy your night.

I think that folk have been very harsh on Dealer.
I have read many posts in this thread recently that I do not agree with. Bravo, keep it up folks :)
I get it, many people on here disagree with me.

Only 2 things I believe in. 1 our very fundamental basic and human rights to see our nearest and dearest, and 2 not compounding covid with also destroying jobs, businesses, mental health and our very financial future as well.

Whether covid kills 60,000 or 6,000,000, neither of those should basic rights should ever be denied to us, it should always be for individuals to decide their level of risk in their lives.

We are turning what is reality is a very mild pandemic at best affecting mainly the elderly, into a crisis of millions of job losses, business failures and borrowing on an absurd scale.

I believe that our government are not just woefully incompetent, but are complicit in the destruction of our society and way of life as we know it.

The shit will hit the fan soon, and deaths from poverty and deprevation will make covid look like fun.

I was shocked when I first came back in here and read all the anti-us anti trump comments.
It's not like that here in USA, no one bad mouths any ones country or leaders, maybe some media people now and then but not any of us regular folks.

UN says lockdowns have driven 270,000,000 to near-starvation, 100,000,000 more dropped into sub $1/day poverty. This dwarfes any effects of covid and any domestic lockdown effects by over 100x.

Mom got her vaccine yesterday (well, first of two). Said she didnt even notice the shot. I was expecting a horse needle. :)
Surprised it even rolled out tbh

"At breaking point, overwhelmed" hmmmmView attachment 148322

Whats your half filled chart supposed to be showing? Wheres the variables that are missing?

Even with the rest of the data it doesn't show if hospitals are overrun or not as

1. It doesn't break them down into different trusts/hospitals
2. It doesn't show how many available beds there are
3. It doesn't break them down into different types of beds, ie, ICU, Ventilation etc
4. It doesn't seem to be up to date

"Trolling, again" hmmmmm

Another U-Turn from the shambolic government

I bet Gavin Williamson the education secretary is going to be furious with Gavin Williamson the education secretary who threatened schools with legal action if they remained closed. :D

London, yet again, get different rules to the rest of the country. The Tiers were supposed to make things simple, so everyone followed the same rules depending on which Tier you were in.

Teaching Union have just, in the last hour, sent emails to all members telling them to refuse to go to work Monday, so just thought I would give a heads up to anyone with kids in England you might have them another couple of weeks at least.
Fingers Crossed

With a daughter in High School (off till 18th at least) and a Son in Primary (expected to return next week) I would have WWIII on my hands for sure!

Brighton and Hove council have advised all schools to delay opening Monday, not sure how legal that is like considering what happened before Christmas. As usual, not a peep from the government, probably announce something tomorrow night giving people a few hours notice to arrange childcare

While being very pro vaccination, i find the prospect of having 2 jabs, one from each type of vaccine rather
worrying bearing in mind no one has any idea what the effect will be as the mechanisms of the vaccines
are totally different, Think it needs a lot more research and testing and if I have to make the decision whether
to have a second jab with a different vaccine i would pass at the moment and hope the first jab has given
sufficient immunity.
