Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

IAbout this virus we will know by time, one thing which is quite sure is that loads of decisions have been made and probably will be made based on quite poor accuracy data available. None of us can know much about this virus even some virolgists would be CM members but even all they know more by time. Modelling these is shit hard and forecast things right is pretty much same than make whole summer weather forecast accurate.

It's nothing new and people with accurate crystal balls would be worth of billions, just none happen to exist yet.

There's one story about COVID forecasting failures, inlcuding link to "full opinion paper" with more details about it but think that story itself gives quite good opinion that forecasting COVID is not gonna be much better or easier than these quoted examples.

It's pitty that we onlu usually can be sure about things afterwards, would make everything easier to know in advance but it is what it is. Especially when we speak about deadly virus, not many experts want to be ones who underestimated it. Future will tell how forecasts will do this time.

Failure in epidemic forecasting is an old problem. In fact, it is surprising that epidemic forecasting has retained much credibility among decision-makers, given its dubious track record. Modeling for swine flu predicted 3,100-65,000 deaths in the UK [11]. Eventually only 457 deaths occurred [12]. The prediction for foot-and-mouth disease expected up to 150,000 deaths in the UK [13] and led to slaughtering millions of animals. However, the lower bound of the prediction was as low as only 50 deaths [13], a figure close to the eventual fatalities. Predictions may work in “ideal”, isolated communities with homogeneous populations, not the complex current global world.

That is what i was trying to say.

I only quoted the 3 countries as they are the 3 with the highest daily cases. But like i was showing and you have just backed up the deaths are not that high.

Which is why i was saying looking at all the cases in the world why are we still getting fed the crap that if we do not lockdown we will be getting 4,000 deaths daily.

As you just showed even with a lot more daily cases than UK will probably ever get your death rates are still less than a quarter of the figures we are getting told will happen in this country.

I agree, no way 4000 deaths a day there or anywhere. I use March as the litmus test when little was known.

I aint no Ben but good enough for me

It appears that there are studies that suggest that there has been a viral drift of covid19 and there are many mutations of it and its pathogenistics and there is a lot more cases but a lot less deaths. In short it is a family of viruses from the original covid19 and they now have a very low pathogenicity. They are less deadly but more contagious.
If this is true then it could be considered as some relief to those that are scared about it

Dio, I don't know what that is supposed to be.
a kitchen-sink dinner ...quiche
some veggies (tomato, broccoli) and cheese in a pie shell with eggs
think of an omelette but round :D

No fruity drink to accompany it? Ben will show his Trump card in his next corona cooking pic later I'm sure :p
Nope, left the fruity drinks for you; cold beer here

Lazy cook here; never much enjoyed spending an hour for something I scarf in 2 minutes; half always goes to the dogs
I knew it wasn't Ben's corona cooking without looking at the poster because the contents of it was a quarter of Ben's light evening snack that he posts :P

In all seriousness about 90% of the time when I post my culinary delights at a late hour I’ll have had at least 3 full meals before it.

most of my corona cooking is just a late night snack.

ill post one in a bit, just doing a risk assessment for work tomorrow (yes I know it should be done on the job)

also good to see others embracing corona cooking, @dionysus what the hell was it though haha!..

I do a lot of training so need to eat regularly.
when I’m bulking I eat loads of shite, but it tastes good so tend to bulk more often than required.

i hate the slimming part of it as all my cheese and sauces and crap are at a minimum.

Maybe the risk assessment for your workmates should be centered on your flatulence? :P

Oh it’s terrible, the protein shakes are the worst.

poor sox on a night on my bed literally sometimes takes to her rug on the floor haha

I never had that issue with protein shakes when I was a gym bunny. But then I never ate anything that wasn't healthy either.
Most my farting was done at the gym and while playing squash as my core expelled it at will :p
PS. I went through many squash partners for some reason :(

Oh I’m terrible on the wind scale.

But I eat loads of carbs and protein too in winter, I’m a lot better in summer.

not played squash in years, bloody harder than it looks that sport btw!

Try an hour spin class after your gym session. A beautiful lady at the gym (going back 8 years or more when I was last on a fitness kick) suggested I should go along to her spin class the next evening. I did. Little did I know it was not intermediary spin class but a full on hour of fucking yourself up!
A few guys who where used to it has pools of sweat on the floor and I was determined to show her that I could keep up!
It nearly killed me.
A few years later I learned that I had a heart condition from birth that has killed sportsmen on the pitch because they did not know about having it!

My old pal who I sometimes used to take public transport with on pub fruit machine runs was a literal asshole.
I'd be sitting there enjoying the scenery, then suddenly be snapped out of my day dream to the muttering words "ffs, stinks of shit on here".
Wondering then for a moment where ma pal has dissapeared to, I'd look down and find him lying down, curled up on the seat out of view, crying with laughter - of which seeing made me instinctively start to laugh too, as I was sat there being given the stare of death by whoever was unfortunate enough to have taken that ride with us.
Bloody protein drinking gym bastards.

Corona late night 4th meal of the day cooking is here!..

marks and Spencer’s prime cod fillet nuggets, roast potatoes and beans and a good old fashioned bread roll with full salt lurpak...

Also topped with lemon, salt and vinegar

For seventeen hours a day (from 6am to 11pm) and more than 7 straight months CNN had wall to wall covid19 coverage along with that fearmongering world and US death chart, now its nothing but election coverage.

It will be interesting to see if they remove the chart once the election is over.

yep, thats pretty telling. Also funny how they waited till a lot of people were made redundant on the 30th before announcing it, and if you weren't employed on the 31st you don't qualify.
Honestly it’s a disgrace.
I know loads of lads now without a job or any sort of support.

thankfully I fell lucky, just feel for those now looking for work especially in these times as there’s nothing out there at all.

That was exactly what crossed my mind too Col. A cynic would suggest that they want to ruin small businesses where taxes can be manipulated. Will the same thing happen in March?
I have taken a job in a nursing home which is way below my pay grade ( no disrespect to cooks in nursing homes) because I could see the lock down coming and I have never been scared of the virus.Plus I happen to love being around the elderly.
My industry has been decimated and it will get worse before it gets better. Although I was quite comfortable during the first lock down financially I decided that for my health and sanity I need regular work and a structure even if (and it has) a second lock down happened.
I feel so sorry for those who may have to endure many more months of these restrictions, but I am prepared to see how things develop over the next month and see if the NHS needed these measures before I get on my high horse

If its not obvious by now the criminal acts our government are committing on us, it never will be.

My advice is, resist, keep all businesses open, and defeat this evil government with its "destroy our way of life" agenda!!
I just know from a personal level how much this sweet and sour virus affects people, not those whom have had it but those who lost there jobs, cars and lively hoods due to the nonsensical restrictions imposed.

its the majority of the time those who a lockdown doesn’t affect that are the most vocal about it.

past 3 weeks I’ve been working/re training..
Sharing ppe, gathering round a PC etc..
Group exercises and the like... classed as a key worker..

but if we go to the toilet we have to wear a mask, nobody will be there.. if we get a coffee we need a mask..

when I sign out of the office I need a mask...

It’s utter nonsense...

As always I’m aware it’s a thing, but the management of it is utterly laughable, it’s like a fawlty towers sketch it’s that idiotic..

not to worry however come the 2nd of December it’ll be ended and the conservatives (well fake conservatives) will save Xmas...

The lockdowns and piffle won’t of meant a thing, won’t of solved a thing..
Many more suicides, jobless and people going mental in the meantime...

i agree to resist this nonsense, protect the fatties, the vulnerable (pre existing conditions) and let the rest of us get on with it...

sorry if anyone disagrees, but tough.

Not taking away anything from the fine staff at the NHS, but they knew what the job was before they trained and signed up for it..

A ‘wobble room’ for goodness sakes...

What’s wrong with manning up or being a bad ass women and just doing your job?

A job you knew full well wasn’t emotionally easy throughout your many years of study and training..

What next a ‘wuss room’ for those in the armed forces when it gets a bit tough?..

We are breeding a generation of over sensitive and over emotional workers that should be able to rise above emotion and pressure, this is exactly why they get the respect they do as it’s not just a normal 9-5...

Covid: NHS staff helped through crisis by 'wobble room'

Had a touch of the late night wuhan wheezer, a dab of the old corona...

So we have... drum roll please!

A pepperoni pizza, ham topped with garlic and herbs and 2 cheeses.

A jacket potato with more cheese as cheese is good and fully salted butter.

Some onion rings..

A drink of my usual juice.

In the background my slow cooker for tomoz, got a gammon joint to put in whilst at work.

Hope we are all well!

Ben and sox
