Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Yep the whole thing is crazy, will probably let her come here for cuppa, fuck em.
Just deny everything if anyone asks questions like Hancock in the Westminster bar,
Cant imagine any police will be walking round checking, never see them here.
Bit sad you cant even meet in your garden, thats really going overboard.

Well all corona cooking is back this evening, it’s been missed beyond words..

It’s a genuine pleasure to be back on these hallowed halls.

this evening is a basic chilli, i wanted to attempt the genuine Texan version but had to collect my little lady from school and didn’t want to take her shopping after a hard days learning.

so done my own...

Beef mince, average fat content.
tomatoes, kidney beans and onion..
then the spices which where paprika, hot chilli and cinnamon (yes cinnamon)

also used green chilli from my home grown plant, as I did with the most attractive sprinkles of parsley.

the rice was cooked heavily salted, as it should be.

the bread is garlic and cheddar, topped with a fine olive oil and lightly grilled (burned them a bit)

and to drink a pint or black currant juice.

Also made a garlic and mint dip...

Mayo
Crushed garlic
Lemon juice
Tad of mint sauce
Olive oil
White wine vinegar
Seasoned (salt and pepper) for the amateurs.

bloody lovely home cooking!..

All the best guys, stay safe and well!..

Now that 2020 is almost over, I've had enough of this virus too man. It's really eaten away at my mind but hopefully, everything will be finally be okay when 2021 rolls around.

Well happy corona Wednesday folks!..

Yes the presentation isn’t the greatest regarding this feast, but that is the point!

It’s a british winter warmer! So british infact I’m sure I heard a spitfire fly overhead!..

We have pork and leak sausages, mustard mash potatoes, green beans and sprouts done in butter and garlic and a lone Yorkshire pudding..

The gravy is controversial and may get me banned, it’s a fine onion gravy using the sausage Stock and caramelised onions, but.. yes but I’ve added horseradish..

Massive overkill with the mustard gravy?.. perhaps... the English mustard on the side for extra kick maybe..

But it’s came together lovely and most filling for a miserable October evening.

Drink is the old black currant juice with ice.

Best regards
Ben and a jealous dog after the spare sausages!

The arrival of a second wave and the realisation of the challenges ahead has led to renewed interest in a so-called herd immunity approach, which suggests allowing a large uncontrolled outbreak in the low-risk population while protecting the vulnerable. Proponents suggest this would lead to the development of infection-acquired population immunity in the low-risk population, which will eventually protect the vulnerable.

This is a dangerous fallacy unsupported by scientific evidence.

Still rising cases here, moreso in the GTA

Pff, its not a "dangerous fallacy" its the Swedish model.

Ignoring all viruses and pretending they dont exist is the only way to turn this:

Of course you need a steady diet of Swedish meatballs and fermented herring (aka surströmming).
Thats what really puts hair on your chest, and immunity in your dna.
I just wish the women here would stop eating it.
Oh well, its warm and fluffy during times of winter i guess.

Was this guy Swedish?..
heard many a rumour...
many say Swedish, some German...

but let’s have it right he’s a proper dude lol!..

Has test done today.
5 days ago started with a sore throat cracking headaches fore head and behind eyes, next few days started to lose my voice, sound hoarse and getting thick mucus up, also blocked nose, Headaches now gone and so has blocked nose, I now have an awful cough and still distraught voice, No time did I have a high temp in past 5 days, ranging from 36.8/37.7 oral.

Just thought maybe I had a cold or sinusitis, but this cough suddenly coming has worried me tbh :(

Don’t worry about it you will be fine, I’ll get my corona cooking out and that will straight away lift you into a euphoric state.

Smells about as good as you think it would.
Or a bit worse probably.

Surströmming (pronounced [ˈsʉ̂ːˌʂʈrœmːɪŋ]; Swedish for ''sour herring'') is a lightly-salted fermented Baltic Sea herring traditional to Swedish cuisine since at least the 16th century. The Baltic herring, known as strömming in Swedish, is smaller than the Atlantic herring, found in the North Sea.

Traditionally, the definition of strömming is "herring fished in the brackish waters of the Baltic north of the Kalmar Strait".[1] The herring used for surströmming are caught just prior to spawning in April and May. During the production of surströmming, just enough salt is used to prevent the raw herring from rotting while allowing it to ferment. A fermentation process of at least six months gives the fish its characteristic strong smell and somewhat acidic taste.

According to a Japanese study, a newly opened can of surströmming has one of the most putrid food smells in the world, even stronger than similarly fermented fish dishes such as the Korean hongeohoe or Japanese kusaya.[2] At the end of the 1940s, surströmming producers in Sweden lobbied for a royal ordinance (Swedish: förordning) that would prevent incompletely fermented fish from being sold. The decree that was issued forbade sales of the current year's production in Sweden prior to the third Thursday in August. While the ordinance is no longer on the books, retailers still maintain the date for the "premiere" of that year's catch.[3]

Ohh that... I’ve seen a few cookery programs on this.

Imagine a playford corona cooking with this involved... i would do one happily but sadly in the U.K. we can’t get such a delicious meal mate, so sadly I’ll have to pass on this occasion..

:-(...

For some reason this is something thats eaten outside... :P

This is how its traditionally eaten.
Flatbread, potato,onion,sour cream & surströmming.
Its actually pretty good if you eat it like that.

Smell is something else tho.

Hmm, they may have something similar, or maybe they were talking about lutefisk.
Thats made with lye and whitefish, and also has a pretty distinctive smell.
Surströmming is as far as i know a Swedish thing.

Possibly, it was a smelly fish from your part of the world however, or well close to it lol.

Give me a moment, I’ll cleanse this thread with a corona cooking post

Tonight we have a lovely meal, it’s a homemade chicken pie, a jacket potato and some veg..

The pie is chicken and tarragon with some herbs and a white sauce, the pastry is homemade.

The pie was frozen a few weeks back, but it’s home cooked.

The jacket potato is just a jacket potato.. nothing to get excited about..

The veg is carrots and green beans roasted in garlic and butter and a tad of rosemary.

Gravy is a red wine base drizzle...

Also had a option of three condiments before serving, I’ll let you guess my chosen one.

If your producing a lot of mucus I would highly recommend cutting out all dairy, including milk as dairy produces a lot of mucus
I had the test last Friday and got the all clear on Wednesday

I'm curious how accurate it is at determining someone is wearing a mask. I wonder if the most cunning of deviants could bypass the system by lifting their top above their mouth as they walk past. What happens if someone walks past with a legit mask, but takes it off after entering? do 10 automated uzi's drop from the cealing and release hell fire upon them? ;p

Is getting the test as bad as some people say? (heard people go 'oh it's horrific' and didn't know if just over egging a swab etc)

My mom working in a nursing home has to have them fairly often; a bit discomforting maybe, but she says shes not much fussed

Its not bad at all ive had 2 , at worse it makes you gag as its tickles your throat and as for the nose one you only go up till you feel pressure twist it around for a few seconds and thats it, makes me sneeze thats all not painfull in the slightest

As many know I’m dubious in regards to this virus, don’t get me wrong I’m well aware it exists, but I do believe the reaction in the U.K. is a massive overkill.

I lost my job over it and it’s taken me since March to get another one, means re-training but I’m more than happy to do that as many mates can’t find a thing.

the rules are utterly bonkers (if you stick to them) and make no sense whatsoever, as to doing more harm than good I think they are.

Depression, unemployment, loneliness not to mention suicide is through the roof.

let those shield whom are vulnerable, but let the rest of the country get back to some sort of normality, this can’t go on forever..

Yes I voted boris, but as many say vote a clown and get a circus, so reaping that right now, just a shame the alternative was utterly unelectable.

I was allowed to do my own test in front of the nurse. first push the swab to the back of the throat as far as possible then the same swab up my nose.
It was as easy as can be and I will do it every 2 weeks

The virus totally ruined my plans for the year work wise as I had bookings in the south throughout the year at venues like Royal Ascot,Epsom,Henley,Wimbledon etc plus I turned down some work in case I got stuck down south.
I actually viewed it as temporary semi retirement and I hardly troubled my savings. Now I am working at a nursing home which is a big departure from what I'm used too but I am enjoying it. I think that I got in at the right time because I fear that most of my mates in my line of work will struggle to find any work for a very long time.
The fact that the Government are advertising for folk to retrain suggests that they know that this will go on for a very long time. I fear for the mental health of my friends and family

Just put him at the door.

Stricter measures in place over here starting Monday: all pubs and restaurants have to close down for a month (only takeaway allowed), stores aren't allowed to sell alcohol from 8pm until the morning, curfew from midnight until 5am, working from home is strongly recommended and families are only allowed to have 4 different visitors a month.

Numbers have been terrifying, I really hope they're slowly getting better in a week to 10 days... :(

Still can be without mask at home....

Moreover, as from Saturday, the use of masks will be compulsory everywhere, including at workplaces and outdoors, with a few exceptions. Fines will also be going up from €50 to €100 but a week's grace will be given before fines will be applied.
The exception includes when one is indoors alone or in his or her private vehicle.

Ignore the masks and restrictions for the time being folks, corona cooking is upon us!..

I have got this evening a bacon and pepperoni pizza, cheddar and mozzarella and some basil and garlic.

also some paprika chips (fries to the non English) and some onion rings.

simple meal for a simple man, to drink is 4 beers (for now)

I will, only 24th onwards start to get fines, until that only warning. Probably don't even have to wear one due my asthma... Just fcking nosense to were them outside, this small island is not crowded during winter time and this year all around.... Hopefully it helps some people panic reactions but that's all help it can make, wear masks outside alone, wadda great idea.
