Just been reading Hancocks explaination of the new rules and why they are not confusing and I am
er rather confused,you can have a cleaner come round to your house but not your granny,begs the question
what if your granny happens to be your cleaner.
Worse one is the could be helpful masks,dont need them in certain shops, could help if you are on public
transport as you will be in close contact with others for a while,useless in schools as you will be in close
contact with others for a while (longer),Guy is a joke.

I think they are ok, what would you do differently? It's about getting the country moving again whilst also limiting the spread

There's only so long you can do a voluntary lockdown, people are already ignoring it, roads are much busier now than a month ago, as are parks and beaches.
 
I would have put some thought into what I was going to say before opening gob.
Also I would have done have a properly enforced lockdown in the first place, ours was and still
is a joke, people will not take it seriously without police spot checking cars and mass fining those who dont comply with regulations.
The only way to get the country moving is reduce the infection rate with sensible,understandable and enforced
rules.

And how long would you have a full lockdown in place? As if its lifted before a vaccine the cases will jump up again (as seen elsewhere) so your solution is to lock everyone up until 2021 or so? The infection rate is dropping so what they did has worked.

I agree enforcement should be stronger, the police are managing to get speed camera vans out daily so they can stop and check people more than they do. I was at the beach on Saturday and a group of 7 lads and lasses were walking along, clearly not from the same household, drinking, 2 police walked straight past them. The beach is a no drinking in public area, so should have been stopped for that let alone being out together.
 
We all want the same result,return to a normal life,its a matter of how we can safely do it.
If it means a extended lockdown then thats what we are stuck with,we should be looking
very closely at the countries where the lockdown been eased and the effect on the r rate.
Problem with the UK is give an inch,take a mile,if everyone would just be sensible it would
make life a lot easier for those who are charged with finding a way out.
 
With UK numbers is quite long illusion to wait until there are no new cases or very few of them. Locking people down for months after months maybe is not an answer as people seem to be fed up to it already and also in many countries there are some human rights that people have rights to do also something else than stay home.

It will going to kill people yes, but there's no any way to get over it. Waiting 2-3 weeks more, what could be expected to happen meanwhile?

But people with heart conditions and serious illnesses are the ones the lockdown is for. They are the ones that are not meant to be leaving the house at all.

But you are saying there should be a full lockdown, yet going out?
No one is forcing you to go out to walk the dog, if you believe a full lockdown should be in place, which would exclude you from doing that, then just stay at home.

Most people are being sensible, the roads, although busier than a month ago, are still MUCH quieter than they were 3 months ago. I was at the beach and park on Friday, it was busier than it has been recently, but it was a red hot bank holiday. It was MUCH MUCH quieter than it would be usually on a red hot bank holiday. I left the house at 8.30 this morning to pick a friend up, usually at that time of the morning it would take me half an hour to get there, it took 7 minutes today. So much quicker I had time for a cup of coffee before we left.

It's going to be a long time before things return to normal, in fact if the virus doesn't die out and no vaccine is found, it never will. You can't put people in a full lockdown forever.

Easily, you just need strong enough army to keep control..... It's just fact that everywhere people start show signs that if there are no even any plans done for stop lockdowns but only wait, wait, wait... they are not willing to listen that forever.

It's been seen already that corona don't kill majority of people, actually only very fcking small amount of infected which mainly are people who are in high risk group (which are quite well recognized by now) so it's kind of understandable that people don't endlessly buy horror stories about how terrible killer this virus is.

This comes as local volunteer group, Keep Brevard Beautiful, which picks up trash from beaches across the city, noticed a steep increase in the amount of junk being left by visitors.

my hometown is a resort beach and it's always bloody disgusting

where i am now, beach is beautiful but the town crew is always about cleaning up

At least could have added two; Charles and Boris!

Maybe you should be a little more human when responding to those who you disagree with as part of your clan in here given how touchy you seem to be at the first critisism that you yourself recieve

I certainly won't have a go at you.

The original Lockdown meant for over 70s and vulnerable people as in those who had a letter to say they are in that category from their doctor or whatever are not supposed to go out at all for anything. If you or your wife fall in that category you should not be out .

If you are not in that category then yes once a day for exercise was permitted. Now we can go out for exercise as we wish respecting social distancing.

It is not have a go at you day.

The exercise and leaving house was meant for not at risk people.

The people at high risk were told not to leave the house at all.

Why do you think people are leaving messages at their door etc. so they do not need to go out at all and risk catching it.

You have said yourself many a time how at risk you are. You have also said many times that amount of people out is a joke and how you are at risk because of selfish people.

Members are merely pointing out the lockdown is for people like yourself.

The majority of people that have adhered to lockdown are very low risk. But they are doing it . The government clearly stated high risk groups should not be out at all.

Sorry do not mean to come across nasty but you have not kept to guidelines either. Vast majority of people started off well but as time goes on they realize they are not at great risk and start to venture out more.

Who can blame them. The lockdown was originally so NHS could cope nothing more. It coped . So why should everyone stay cooped up when this virus is here to stay. People have to move on. Those at high risk can stay at home if they wish it should not be forced on everyone. Especially when you are out and about yourself.

Dunno who I have ever been disrespectful or unhuman to in anything I have posted on this thread apart from
a couple of postings which really deserved a sharp answer, I can take founded critisism but in this case
the glass houses remark was unfair as you dont know my personal circumstances.
 
There now has to be a balance between ensuring the 2nd wave is managed and doesnt overwelm nhs and restarting the economy.

At the moment the people out and about are mostly not at work they are enjoying the weather. So whilst that is comoleyely understandable it doesnt actually help restart the economy or contain the virus.

If vulnerable people must still stay in then for those who would normally work they need financial aid. Furlough would need to keep going for them.

If the numbers go up again like they did today we are in danger of Boris either attempting to lock us up again or at the very least him refusing to open up businesses again. Not good all round.

Who's had a go at you? Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are having a go, I was discussing it I thought, and haven't seen anyone else 'have a go' either.

So what do you think a total lockdown is? How would it be different to what we have had for the past couple of months? Most people I've seen who say the same think exercise outside shouldn't be allowed as it allows people to take the piss, you obviously don't think that as you think thats acceptable.

Spain had what I would call a full lockdown and you certainly wouldn't have been allowed to drive about to take the dog for a walk there. You weren't allowed out for exercise at all, apart from a brief dog walk.

So from what you have said, it seems you want a full lockdown, but not really, as you want to be allowed out.

I know exactly what the lockdown in Spain is like I have a cousin who lives there, up to recently you could only
walk a dog for 50 metres and could not go anywhere accompanied and without a good reason.

Nobody here can say that they have not in some way broken the lockdown rules maybe unintentionally or unavoidably getting too close to others in shops.

Thats a million miles from the shit and selfish behaviour that I have posted about,our lockdown rules are fine
but not properly enforced.

btw I have just double checked the self isolation guidelines and I am fine to go out,my wife is over 70 and vulnerable, I had a heart attack 10 years ago but did not get a gp letter telling me to self isolate, I can
go out to get essential meds and food and exercise like anyone else.Discussed this with the dog and he agrees :). Sorry not being flippant and I hate going anywhere but sometimes its unavoidable,esp to get meds at short notice when the chemist wont deliver.

The problem is, how to enforce? The police can't attend every house they get a report about saying someone has just visited. You can't realistically spot check cars as you suggested, you might catch the odd person 100 miles aways from home, but if I were ever stopped I would say I was on my way shopping, and the local supermarket didn't have any bread left if away from home, or I'm going to see my friend to get them some supplies. Impossible to prove otherwise.

I've broke the rules, numerous times, driving for exercise, usually a walk down the beach or through the park, just as you have, not sure what your point is. The rule was you couldn't drive for exercise, the police guidance that was leaked a few weeks ago wasn't a change in the rules, it was them saying what they could reasonably justify a charge/fine for. The fact is, you're complaining about people breaking the rules, while you are doing the same thing. I don't have a problem with you doing it, I think it's reasonable, especially if you live on an estate, people want to drive somewhere nicer, but you can't then have a go at others doing the same thing.

Why, the rules don't change until tomorrow, so why were so many going to work? The police should have been there fining them all.
 
It's all one big mess isn't it.

Personally I'd have gone full lockdown for 6 weeks and enlisted all the army personnel I could to help.

With a total lockdown we'd have seen new cases into 3 figures and we would have been able to fully open up by now...with an effective ability to track and trace such low numbers of new cases.

Instead we've had a half hearted lockdown, economic turmoil and still a high number of new infections.

Sorry you are wrong, driving to exercise has never been illegal, the police overstepped their powers and decieded it was, the new rules just clarified the situation, and as you say wasnt a change in the rules.

There is nothing to stop the police setting up roadblocks as they do in other countries, I would be quite
happy to be asked why I am out.

Agree.
A half assed lockdown casues more or less the same blow to the economy as a full-on-china lockdown does, with almost none of the benefits.

Can you link to where an official government statement is showing driving for exercise was allowed then please? Not the guidance by the police, the actual policy document. Thanks.

Of course there is, there are hardly any police, they don't have the manpower to set up roadblocks. I imagine most people would be happy to be asked too. 'I'm off out for a walk' 'ok sir, on your way'. What would be the point?

But that method would have only stored up problems for when the lockdown ended. They wanted to delay the rate of infection in order for the services to cope. And it was based on 10 times the figure than what actually died.

At least 4 weeks ago it was suggested that we may have already of reached something like 60% of the population already having been infected. Today I have no idea what that figure would/could be. It was stated that once 80% was reached it could be expected that the virus would decrease in its potency thus reaching herd immunity levels.
What would have been devastating would to have been full locked down for 6 weeks then it kicking off again with the nation having a far less robust immune system.
Have a quick google search for the flights into the uk any mid day. It would take nothing for it to kick off again.

It appears to me that the worst is over if most of us who where likely to get it have already got it/had it

I didn’t make assumptions you were the one who was slagging of other people on the roads like your self maybe they had good reason to be driving.
 
There was never any mention anywhere specifying if it was legal to drive to exercise which is what caused
the confusion,I searched everywhere after i was stopped and warned, all it said was you were allowed to
exercise once a day.It was down to the police to decide whether you had a reasonable reason to be driving
some forces said it was not. The only time it was clarified in black and white was in the new guidelines which
state it is acceptable.

The police must have more time now the roads are clearer and they dont have to spend almost all their
time at night dealing with drunken behaviour,If there was no point why do other countries do it

I think I said that one sunday the roads were as busy as pre lockdown, if they were all following the rules
it shouldnt have been that busy, there were and still are very few reasons why you should be driving, they could not have all been walking dogs, like I was legally, maybe some were shopping, not many were going to exercise as the routes were going out of town away from parks

We are nowhere near those figures.

Estimates have London between 10-15% and 5-10% elsewhere.

If we assume a rate of 10%, on current death figures we could reasonably expect 300,000 dead if this was left to rip unabated.
