Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Just travelling anywhere or any of the current hotspots? In the former case half the country might be on its arse...
Either, any, all. Hope that clears up the confusion

Well let me tell you this today I was in a room with 100 GP's and nurses and the person in my office who organised the event said to me "I don't feel well today". *cough cough* :eek2:

Bear in mind this woman has a child who went on a holiday to Italy last week and is now in school ordered quarantine at home.

Either we will all be fine or you could be reading this with a huge scandal that could break if it turns out that she had infected half of the GP's in the town and they end up in two weeks quarantine.

Ive never needed much of an excuse to bunk off work. Whats wrong with some people, why not just quarantine the family and relax, read books, play music, films, slots etc.

There's an unfortunate 'stiff upper lip' trait here in the UK which, all it has done has ensure we work more hours on average than most countries and have less public holidays. Go figure.

I actually get a great feeling when i am working flat out or have pushed myself to my limits. I quite like the stiff upper lip trait but 'work hard, play hard' is a better fit for the soul i think.

need To adopt the Swedish model to working; Kroffes on here so much that he must only punch in 15 hours a week at work:p

we still have a mindset in this country, though it’s slowly changing I think, is that employees arses need to be on their seats in work to be ‘seen’ to be working and that if you work longer you’re working harder or better etc

My jobs such that if I do what I need to do I’m off at 230pm, work to 9pm one night, take half day the next day etc; quite lucky in that respect as some of my pals are still working under 80s micro managers. Oh, 3 minutes late, to HR you go? Piss off

A bit controversial but what do you think of the equality directive?

I've always thought the best person for the job is the best person regardless of race, colour, sexual preference or any other quality unrelated to the work.

I see that in itself as equality gone mad. Its fundamentally flawed and beggars belief that its progress, in my opinion.

Work from home.
Work requires computer.
Computer has CM.
Kroffe work little, CM alot.
Everybody happy.

I actually put in 3-5 hours most days, up until i have procrastinated everything to the limit.
Gotta make time for enough nature documentaries to create balance.

I dont remember where i saw this, probably reddit.
But there was a firestation in Usa (i think) that had an easier entry-test for female applicants to promote equality or whatever.
And when i say easy, i mean easier as in the dummys they "saved" weighed less, were not required to wear full gear when taking the test etc.

I think equality is good, but obviously not in all places.
Id prefer if the person who comes to save me from the fire can manage to carry me outside.
Otherwise we are back to the damn hamster being saved again, and thats bullshit.

Things should be awarded based on merit, not bleeding heart inclusivity for the sake of some faux-equality, that applies to pretty much most things, and certainly positions of responsibility

To me equality means everbody equal and seeing everyone as one family i.e. the human race.

For the benefit of the human race when considering the utopia of - everyone is equal - then the best person for the sake of equality should be based as you say, on merit.

Bruce Lee - Under the sky we are all one family :)

It's just that, a utopian pipe-dream that humans will never attain so long as there's humans around. And for every generation that seems to be making strides in the right direction, along come the next to repeat the same human mistakes.

So ultimately the only advancement has and always will be survival of the fittest and best man for the job so to speak, and the only guaranteed thing

If you like kung-fu movies you should watch Ip Man.

I like the idea that the internet will educate the world but yes maybe a pipe dream.

As Bruce Lee also said: There are no limitatons, only plateaus (old age would disagree with that as well as my back, which does not feel like a plateau).

Have seen it, a brilliant film. You may have guessed i love Martial Arts films. My little girl used to ask to watch Tony Jaa though she has only seen his less brutal stuff plus many funny ones. I am saving this scene for her........

Northern Ireland operates with the old positive discrimination model, for example. It's really fair.;)

Personally, i think it's tosh. If i'd my own business I'm giving the job to whoever i thinks going to do it better - to be told, nope, you need to award it to someone not as good, or even shite, due to an under representation, tests even my leftisms :p

Very! Trump cares alot about the stock market.

Or Ham, which ones?

Every good democracy needs somebody like the old Harry Enfield character Angry Frank.

His job in parliament could be Chief Tosh Whip, sat next to the speaker. They could have a list of complete Tosh and regardless of left or right if somebody mentions anything senseless and devoid of logic he tells them 'Nooooo!......

Think the big danger is if the virus takes a serious hold in countries where there are mass populations
and for whatever reason the health facilities and govenments are not up to coping with it, thinking of Pakistan, India and Africa to name a few.Iran seems to be partly in denial, the death rate there is reported as 13%.

Our small city has four military college cadets in isolation. One was on a flight with one of the confirmed cases in BC on Feb 13. BC board of health informed him Feb 23. I assume the other three are his roommates. All employees were sent an email. So for 10 days he was out and about going to class, downtown, shopping.
There is one student in Ireland waiting on results from the test but showing some symptoms just came back from a ski trip in Italy. Not to mention we had one lady that checked out of the hotel in Tennerieffe just before the quarantine, got on a plane and flew home and now self-isolated. That's a major case of closing the barn door after the horse is miles down the road. For a while restricting travel within the EU would be a good idea but the powers that be don't want to do that. Idiots the lot of them.

You should be fine as you are a man in the guise of a bear so the furry outfit should be enough to protect you.

Thats what you think.
Actually im a bear in the guise of a man.

But im not all that worried to be honest.
If people start dying all over the place maybe ill change my mind, but as it stands now, if you are a healthy young-ish person, i dont think there is need for concern.

I have been kind of wondering if thats what people think.
Not really my cup of tea that.
I cant tell you exactly how i became Pooh, but i know it was not my intention from the start.
And now its too late to change =(

And dont all the furries choose cool animals to be?
Wolfs, foxes,dragons,unicorns etc.
You never hear about someone identifying as a Snail or earthworm.

Now... If i had to become a furry, i would choose a much more chill animal.
Like a sloth or something.

One of the uk health trusts has asked all the staff to shave off their beards so their masks fit properly
but those who object on cultural or religeous grounds are exempt, thats bloody disgusting when it affects
the risk to patients, its either necessary or not.Typical of this country, shit scared of offending minorities
even when it could seriously affect others.

If I had a beard I would not shave it off just because a clueless trust asked me to, you can tell I work in NHS and always be wary of what these non-clinical, sit in an office never get on the front line types tell you.

Don't have a beard either but beardie-weirdies are known to harbour many a germ in them, that's actually proven.

However, if told to shave it off because of some BS directive I'd probably grow it out further into full-tramp mode just to piss them off, with strategic crumb placements
