Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Vitamin D absorption is not a factor. The reason is socioeconomic and is unique to the US. Otherwise we would be seeing higher rates of infection in darker-skinned people in all countries, not just in the States.
Lets see if that is true or not given that you have determined that conclusion without anything to back that up

Yes for sure it would you are right.

What none of these conspiracy bods will answer is why are the hospitals full and extra hospitals being built if this is the same as the flu? We don't normally have to cancel normal operations to keep beds available or get beds from private hospitals or build temporary hospitals so why do we now? We don't normally run out of ventilators so why have we now? We don't normally need more morgues so why do we now '? If this is less lethal than the flu (which it isn't ) then surely none of these things would be happening.
Yes its a bit strange that they seem to ignore all of the above, always ready to post more theories, post more youtube videos of the theories, post endless reasons to try and back up their arguments, but never answering the fundamental questions......

Can I be the devil's advocate (or next conspiracy theorist :))?

Why everyone is so certain that the COVID19 is so deadly and we need those lock downs when many scientists (who are experts in this field) are not?

I know, because of the hysteria created by media showing crowded hospitals, counters of Corona virus cases and death toll.

About 90 000 people died up to day, which is sad. I guess it is a common knowledge by now that about 250 000-500 000 people die each year in flu (according to WHO).
Some seasons are more severe than the others. Like in 2018, when 33 000 people died in England and Wales.
Here is how the current outbreak compares to that.

At the moment I am not fully convinced that the lock downs (and its consequences) were really necessary and they are not counter productive.

More and more content is being removed by all main social media no matter how emminent the provider is. It is suppression

My niece actually said that to me once.
We were playing some weird memory game where you were supposed to make a rhyme about the picture you picked up.
And she was just freestyling rhymes for every damn card she picked up.
"Potato" "Snokato"

So i asked her i we were allowed to use made up words.
And the lil devil just looked me straight in the eyes and told me, "All words are made up"

I proceeded to lose the game and have not played it since.
It still hurts.

I need to read the last few pages or more cos im going slotting. But something I do find disturbing is that a leader of a country has warned for the first time that I know of the realistic possibility of at least a second wave of the virus and that things may not imrove for a very long time.

Its almost certain there will be a second wave, its not going to go away until theres a vaccine. When we get into the winter there will be relaxing of all the lock downs and as the virus will still be around it will build up again.

You called me out on lack of evidence!

I like it. You’re right, I‘ll revise. :p There is no conclusive evidence that vitamin D plays a role in the higher infection rates of African Americans. But we’re in luck. Someone at the University of Granada is planning a Vitamin D-related clinical trial in June.

There are certain territories in the world where the hospitals are full. In Italy, in Spain, in the UK and in the U.S., but not all hospitals even in these heavy hit countries.
And there are several other countries in Europe or other part of the world where there is no congestion at all even in some countries who did not do lock downs (Japan or Sweden) and they are still doing fine (I know Sweden will suffer soon as per the projections of the lock down supporters).

I expect those temporary hospitals and more morgues are just precautions and would never be used.

We will see in a couple of weeks who was right and who was less right.

I so look forward to what is revealed in June given how fast things seem to be moving.
And yes I said I was off but I happened to go respond to my pm's
Have a good evening

They are already using the temporary nightingale hospital at Excel. So not just a precaution.

I have, in almost any severe case of OD youd be looking at worst, diarrhea and nausea; maybe some bloating and abdominal cramping
there can be other effects but seriously, youd have to be ODing on a general basis

ex
Toxicity

Taking high-dose vitamin C supplements (> 2 g in a single dose) for an extended period might increase the risk of kidney stones, although findings on this topic are mixed. If a person has preexisting kidney disease, renal insufficiency, or kidney stones, it may be best to avoid taking vitamin C supplements.

Another risk of taking high doses of vitamin C on a long-term basis could be iron overload and toxicity. High doses of vitamin C can trigger hemolysis in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Hi Lockinlove. I hope that your well?
Have you any data on which groups are effected the most by this virus? I have read reports recently about obesity being amongst the worst effected alongside ethnic minorities, immunity compromised, Very poor diet and the aged. Does that correlate with your findings?
Also, what medications are being used to treat those who are most ill? Does Hydroxychloroquine play a part?

Thanks in advance
@lockinlove

Well here mate a bit of research for ya go and eat 4 oranges and let me know how u get on.
Oo and the field hospitals you’re so concerned about that’s called (prior planning preparation prevents piss poor performance)
Please try some research before posting
Do you expect a reply to that?

Who thinks the Chinese figures are complete BS?

It doesn't make sense - yes, their figures from Wuhan seem kosher with the extreme lockdown which long surpassed any incubation and recovery period, so all that were going to be ill would have been by now.

But there are 1.7bn people there, and huge conurbations that were infected BEFORE the Wuhan lockdown such as Beijing and Shanghai. So we are expected to believe that the rest of China has not followed the pattern of all the other nations and nobody is dying any more?

Something doesn't add up when you look at the chronology of COVID events there and its behaviour everywhere else, it's anomalous to say the least.

Now they've ended lockdown, they haven't a clue who has had it and is immune, they have no vaccine or done mass screening. The virus hasn't gone away so if we do NOT see a new outbreak in China something is definitely odd?

Unfortunately china have lied from the outset. Delaying telling the world that the virus was there and killing people. Silencing the doctors who tried to tell what was really going on.

They are used to controlling their citizens and limiting what they know and can do and they are used to managing what they tell the rest of the world to keep themselves where they want to be.

The figures will be wrong. Plus as you say if there is even one infected person it could start up again . It would have been really helpful if they were honest as the rest of the world could have learnt from what happens in a full lockdown and then again learnt what happens when the lockdown lifted. Instead we will be fed whatever China want to feed us. This is the way it works there. Simple as.

This doesn't sound very promising.

That's what I was alluding to about 125 pages back. What's to stop someone warding it off, only to contract it again, albeit in a considerably weakened state?

On another note, with the triple Bank Holiday weekend coming up I'd bet my bottom dollar Brits'll be swarming the beaches in their thousands, as well as annoy the elderly with pointless visits.

Who knew Easter was such an important landmark all of a sudden :D:rolleyes:

I wish they would start reporting properly as its hard to tell if they are going up or down. Out of those 980, only 117 died on the 9th, the rest were between the 1st and 8th. But of course, due to the way they are reported, there won't have been only 117 died yesterday, that figure will massively increase over the next 10 days.

Yes. People with weakened immune systems are most vulnerable.

Science is funny with some things, they never want to commit to certain studies and ideas.

I understand though, the immune system is a tricky thing. It's hard to comment because when you are in med school or around most lead doctors, they do not recognize immunity boosting. Yet, studies show that people who lack vitamin D are more prone to respiratory infections. We know that lack of sleep can increase risk of sickness. We know stress and anxiety can takes it toll too. So do whatever you can to change those.

Smoking is another huge risk factor for obvious reasons.

On a personal level, you do what you feel works for you in the past. For me, I know vitamin C doses has worked. Any time in my life I have ever had a cold, I always got them real bad. I never had a "little bit of a cold" it was always full out. Once I started using things such as vitamin c, ginseng, ginger, honey and lemon, I very rarely ever have a full out cold. It's funny though, Once I start feeling something coming on even the slightest hint, if I catch it soon enough, I seem to get through it in 3 days. If I don't it's a good solid week with terrible symptoms. It's entertaining some medical professionals will laugh at the thought of immune boosting and using vitamin c etc. Yet I have seen reports and videos of doctors who were lead specialists in the ebola and SARS fight saying they take an increased dose of vitamin C a day, especially right now.

We all know a proper diet makes a difference. Eat a large bag of chips vs a large chicken salad. Which makes you feel better? lol.

I have sat there with a sore and scratchy throat and feeling lethargic. I have put unpasteurized honey and lemon in warm water, and within an hour or two felt much better.

Anyone interested in this should research the immune system or watch videos. I am sure there is a lot out there and it's pretty fascinating how it all works.

Ethnicity? No, I can't confirm that at all.

Treatment here? Supportive care mainly. Some are using other methods that arent approved and risk being sanctioned so I cant speak about that. I can say that remdesivir, Hydroxychloroquine and plasma therapies are having large trials done right now. There are remdesivir trials taking place here and those results should be available in May. We need time to pass by.

Is weight a factor?

If anyone here has had surgery, if you are overweight your doctor will tell you to lose weight before the procedure. Why? Because it proves to be dangerous. It causes much more stress on the heart/oxygen levels and leaves you more prone to infections. Your airways are more prone to close and trying to get a breathing tube with all the extra tissue can be difficult. So you can understand why this relays to covid-19. A lot of the last ditch efforts are the use of breathing machines.

Yep, there is some level or time period(s) of bullsh*ttery for sure.

The data I find most complete and trustworthy is South Korea. They tested indiscriminately and they started early. Their testing was so thorough and widespread that they are the ones who discovered the extent of asymptomatic infection in younger people.

Cheers for the extensive reply Lockinlove.
For the past month or so I have modified my diet to include all of the immune boosters that you have mentioned except Ginsing. I've also been using Zinc as I understand it combines well with my intake of Hydroxychloroquine. I had covid symptoms for the best part of two weeks and towards the end of it I called emergency services. Not because I was that ill,but due to being it lasting so long. They did not confirm what my symptoms where most likely to be. I hope that my diet kept things in check?

I would love to know what alternative treatments are being used other than the ones layed out in the guidelines :p
With the weight I guess it would be reasonable to conclude that Diabeties would also be a big risk factor?

Being indoors so much has to have a very big effect on us both physically and possibly mentally too.

@lockinlove Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.
Q. I have been reading lately that physicians are reconsidering early intubation as well as using ARDS vent settings for COVID-19 patients. What are your thoughts and what have you been seeing?

Q. I’m also interested in knowing what is your best guess for the mortality rate of COVID-19 patients who have ended up on mechanical ventilation? Or what is the percentage of patients who recover once they’re intubated?

Stay safe and know that the country appreciates and is so thankful for all the work you and your staff do everyday.

I try not to think on race in any form affecting a major crisis but it does happen. It is sad but i saw on you tube where some black men were asked to remove their masks or leave. As far as the coronavirus i don't think it hits just one race worse. Its up to interpretation why it is that way.

As for me, i have been sleeping off and on for days now. I hope its just stress. No fever as of yet. Just complete and utterly feeling drained.
I suspect that stress is taking its toll on a lot of people right now. I am feeling like having a break over the easter from all things covid related. Sometimes I only have to look at a covid related article and I start coughing!

Horrendous UK figures today, time our leaders admitted they f**ked up big time in the early stages not
locking down for weeks.Sick of the bloody graphs and experts saying its flattening down, any idiot can
see it is still rising exponentialy.
Even now they are not testing arrivals at airports, spokesman today more or less said it wasnt worth it
as so many people are already transmitting it between them it wouldnt make much diiference, dont
they realize or care that just one infected person coming in could kill one or more people.
Sorry my confidence in the authorities is at an all time low, god knows how they think they will end it.
I can really see massive social unrest if they dont get their act together fast.

End of rant

Scary yes.

But again to put into a little perspective. There are 290,000 to 650,000 annual flu deaths. Which without the flu vaccinations would probably be seven figures.

Not to take away from the seriousness of coronavirus but many diseases would kill a lot more than it and spread as fast if not for vaccines. Just hope they get a vaccine for this sooner than later.

Even take measles. there were over 140000 deaths from it in 2018. Imagine how deadly and how fast that spreads if it was not for most countries vaccinating loads against it.

The important thing is they have managed to keep the NHS from overloading. The lockdown was intended to " flatten the curve" and it looks like it is working. I think every country was caught out by this, I think the government mostly did what they could but I do think the public have a bit of responsibility as when the government started preparing the lockdown so many people rushed to socialise when they should have been taking a step back.
Also the idiots who were partying 3 weekends ago and 2 weekends ago have been transmitting it like mad, and thats why we are peaking next week.
