Schools out until Feb

Yeah just been reading her wonderful new rules. Basically she is just copying everything she did in March.

One difference being max of 2 people over 12 this time allowed to meet outside.

Still means i will be at work even tho my job is hardly essential.

All legally enforceable. Oh good means i can go to shop tomorrow and no one will be hanging about outside them. Oh wait that was meant to happen in March. Basically means she has spouted all these rules but the usual ones won't give a toss and they will never be enforced.

Complete waste of bloody time.

I've not been in our office since March but Mrs has been the last 4 or so months and i've gotten too used to it (opening a beer at 1pm, playing Bonanza at the same time), so she just said there 'i don't think i'll be going in': Nicola's ears will be burning :p

The whole place was like a ghost town, not just the urgent care centre we went to. Hardly any cars parked, no people to be seen etc.
So people are following the rules, and there aren't any visitors allowed either. Most hospitals are like that on Sunday nights though, apart from A&E, but as people aren't really supposed to be going out then it's not surprising they aren't busy either.

In short, i dont think if anyone had any kind of cure it would be withheld

I wish i had your faith in the powers that be and respect your opinion. Maybe i've become the stereotypical old cynic about the megalomaniacs that run this world. I do have a lot of faith in human nature and the average man though but these people are not average from what i can tell.

And yet from the uk govt and lockdown docs & academics silence, it's never been mentioned.

They cant make as much money from fish and eggs. The culture nowadays is to treat rather than cure from the pharmaceuticals im afraid. You can bet their all getting their Vit D though.

It certainly was the opposite of being "overwhelmed" and at "breaking point". And we're talking North London here.

And before it is said, no I am not a denier of the virus, conspiracy theorist, fantasist, troll etc. Just putting it out here what I seen with my own eyes and is the opposite of some of the twats lifted from Twatter as I call it being posted in this topic.

Got it in one, repeat customers till death versus 1 time customer.

Maybe in future we should have separate 'virus hospitals' for flu, covid, winter vomiting bug etc.. one in each region, reduce the risk of inhospital transmission to patients in hospital for other things like cancer, stroke, heart ops etc...

BTW The NHS is the fifth largest employer in the world according to the bbc, so it's unlikely lack of money and manpower is the primary issue but how that is managed most effectively.

In Scotland, when they put Health and Social Care together, one of the things that has fallen out of it (and still early days) was the disparency between the two. Money that was meant to have been saved (on the acute/hospital side) was meant to have flown through to the community side (social care) to offset things like increased home care costs - it never and hence the frictions between the two sides continues.
unabated.

Having worked in both the NHS (i won't attempt to answer here :-p) and Local Authorities (not for, in) there has always been the perception that health has always been protected/given more leeway that their LA counterparts - to an extent it's right: NHS can set budgets with overspends, LA's, legally, can't here. Budget management was always a challenge when i was there.

What i would say is that there has been a lot of trimming of fat across a lot of places in recent years - under the current structures set up, in some cases, as much as can be without radical change. I touched base with a few colleagues last year and some departments etc have completely gone, for example. Certainly been a move to shove more admin functions onto front line staff. Works fine in some areas, some not so much.

I do get the sense the NHS is paperwork mad, and nurses have to split their time between filling in forms and actual patient care. However how much could be scaled back without causing errors in care etc... I don't know.

This from the nurse's website is a worrying pointer to the scale though:

A study undertaken last year by the Royal College of Nursing discovered that, in Britain alone, some 2.5 million hours a week is spent on non-essential paperwork and clerical tasks.

Using the minimum starting salary for a registered nurse of £21,388 as a guide, this means non-essential paperwork is costing the NHS around £53.47 billion every single year.

This, of course, is assuming that paperwork comes out of a nurse's daily hours.

Many of those within the profession, however, argue that they end up putting in countless additional hours or working through their breaks in order to get everything done.

Problem was always that of culture - we used to continually ask the question 'why is this being done, can you not cut this out as it offers nothing etc' but it was hard work: you used to get over zealous legal departments as well (hello SOW?) who used to insist x,y,z was needed to negate liability. There was definitely a fear culture of doing something different/ripping up the status quo. No one liked change and even when it came, getting them onside was the next task - no one likes change but maybe the difference between private/public sector bodies was that, maybe due to the fact there was long tenure in public - they were engrained, didn't like doing anything out of their comfort zone - tricky one.

Improved now but in my first few years of nhs working you'd see the SAME supplier selling to 2 NHS Trusts, some only 10 miles apart, at double the price. Asking the question...er, is that right, you'd get the head bitten off you for daring to suggest folk were taking the piss (or worse, on the take)

Probably easier to answer the Local Authority issue of waste - frequently you'd see very good management teams being at the mercy of elected officials: whether they needed to be stronger with the councillors, is one argument, but frequently you'd see things being done because Mrs Jones contacted Councillor Pinnit etc - meant good ideas etc were mothballed at the (ego?) of others. Very frustrating.

One thing that always hindered the whole paperwork thing was the fact that so many IT sysyems were shite. NHS and IT systems haven't had the best of relationships. That was a tough one - you could say 'get a new system and you'd only need 1/2 the staff as manual input was reduced' but obviously for some that was like Turkey's voting for Xmas

PM will be directly addressing the nation. It won’t be a press conference. Tier 4 restrictions will be imposed everywhere. Schools closed. No more team games in parks. But outdoor exercise will still be allowed.
..
So let the kids go back, pass it around after the Christmas free for all, then keep them off! ffs I REALLY hope no one votes for this fucking idiot next time round.

Regardless of what anyone says, if a treatment for coronavirus was to be found in an existing medicine it would be a silver bullet and it would make the company that markets that treatment a lot of money .
So far, to my knowledge, no treatment has proved to be the silver bullet, so I think what @Gaz237 is saying is that it’s pretty reckless to risk your health by taking medication that hasn’t been prescribed by a recognised professional. With the greatest respect to all the fine internet doctors we seem to have garnered over the past several months, I personally will still take the lead from proven science and the professional’s who should know what they are taking about.

I think i have been misunderstood, i would never advise to take any drugs that are not professionally backed.

Confusion might of been over the use of re-purposed drugs and me saying drug companies will try and get theirs used to get the share prices up.

I wasnt saying you were advising anyone to take medicines without prescription @Gaz237, I was saying that you were pointing out it was reckless to take drugs from the internet without medical supervision, we are singing from the same hymn sheet on this one.

Apologies if my post gave you the wrong impression.

I pray to god coronavirus never effects your family like it has a million others
Anyone thinks corona isnt taxing - emotionally, mentally, physically, financially...is far too removed from society to have an opinion :)

Please find a more acceptable way to express yourself.
A million, a very dubious 66,000, out of total deaths of 650,000 this and every year. Hardly the bubonic plague is it.
Like I said you moron I pray your not affected or anyone close to you because I wouldn’t wish it on the worst person in the world even tho you are an absolute fucking dick

Part - of duties - say - play nice, be nice, everyone get along
But it's so very nearly reaching 'flat Earth' territory here and jabs and jibes are...acceptable?

But there's a point, yanno?
When statistics, laymen, world governments, health officials all agree on singular points
And contrary points come down to suspicious dubious youtube vids

I mean, where do facts lay?

Well, it's a contentious thread and I'm hardly about to report or lay infractions; it's all been very civil :)

I'm just saying - it's become a Trump/ N Korea thread of late
Better the discussions and debate that HAVE been going

But honestly, anyone hasnt grasped this isnt a flu/chinese/wuhan/kungflu needs to open their browsers outside youtube confirmation-bias links :)

He should be banned from the thread. All he does is comes on once a day to post either blatant lies, fake news, fake figures or shite like he just posted now.

I've said it before, I have no problem with anyone having opposing views to me, Ben has polar opposite views, Colin's views are not the same, Mack's aren't, and plenty of others, but none of those come on spreading lies, and are open to discussing things.
Dealer posts things as FACT then when asked about the facts, just ignores all discussion and the following day posts more absolute shite he's found on Facebook or Twitter.

He's a troll and when he doesn't get the attention he's seeking, posts more and more outlandish comments until he does, until what's just happened, happens.

Apparently a disease is now political and knows the difference between right and left.

Not acceptable in a public forum, not an acceptable way to treat your fellow forum members.

Im here because I have been a gambler all my life, but on this thread the way our governments are dealing with what is nothing worse that flu is as criminal as the Nazis in the 1930s.

And we have millions of people losing their livelihoods, sanity and ability to keep their homes.

But we have several smug bastards who havnt suffered at all (Yet, it will come to us all) who think that continuing lockdowns are the answer, how fucxking thick and stupid and evil do you need to be to think this is the correct strategy.

He's been like that since the start of the thread, I was constantly challenging him way back in April/May as he was constantly sprouting BS, time and time again I was asking for evidence, and guess what? Not one shred of evidence just conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory, in the end it was pointless feeding his need to troll because I knew there was never going to be one shred of evidence produced - how can he produce it when it doesnt exist.

Still waiting for proof lockdowns work, 10 months and counting . Several things they are really good at: , destroying businesses, jobs, mental health, cancer and heart treatments, mental health, kids education, child abuse. They are wonderful at these things. I know, lets have another one.
