Coral gambling advert broadcast on Cartoon Network

A TV company committed a "serious breach" of rules by screening an advert for a bookmaker on its children's channels, a media regulator has said.

The advert for Coral was broadcast nine times on Saturday 25 May between 06:42 BST and 08:42 on Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said Turner had explained that the advert was broadcast in error, and had "apologised unreservedly".

Coral said it was "horrified".

Coral always seem to be on the receiving end of bad luck. This was obviously not there fault, but that won't stop Mum's and Pop's thinking they are bunch of scumbags for being on the TV at 9am cartoon time.

It should pass without too much damage to the brand though.

I think if someone did a survey on how many under-10's saw the advert, realised what it was for, went and got their parents credit card, logged onto Coral's website, signed up an account, deposited some money and played casino games they'd realise that the whole thing is a load of bollocks and just more fodder for the OMG!! mob.
